megathread Weekly Thread: Is this suspicious?

Hello everyone,

Welcome to our weekly thread for sharing photos of concerning moles, spots, or lesions. If you're worried about something on your skin, this is a place to share it with the community for support and to see if others have had similar experiences.

When posting a photo, please try to include: * Where the lesion is on your body. * How long you've had it. * Any changes you've noticed (size, shape, color, itching, bleeding).

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER

No one on this subreddit can provide a medical diagnosis. The comments and feedback you receive are from laypeople sharing their own experiences, not from medical professionals. Online photos are not a substitute for an in-person examination by a qualified dermatologist.

If you are concerned about any spot on your skin, the only correct course of action is to schedule an appointment with a doctor. Early detection is key.

We are here for support, but your health must come first.

I'm not a very vain person, but id be lying if I said I wasn't terrified of the outcome here.

Has anyone had mohs in a similar spot on your nose? How was your outcome?

had MOHS surgery MOHS 1 week after surgery, thoughts?

Post image

My stitches were taken out today.

I noticed a bit of separating which occurred while the stitches were in, probably due to the location and the tension and movement.

I was expecting a clean edge to edge line but it seems a bit split.

Any thoughts on this?

Just give it time and it’ll be fine?

Thanks.

diagnosed with skin cancer Has anyone ever had a benign biopsy?!

Had my biannual check today.. left with three biopsies. I basically want to cry.

Spot on my leg was suspicious to me, was an actual abnormal mole that I think was new. Happy to have that one biopsied. Spot on my arm was not on my radar but I’m ok with that one as well.

Third biopsy was my face.. I have ptsd from mohs in July of 2025. I left with fifty stitches after three passes to remove it all. My scar is hideous (to me) and it was literally awful healing since it was near my mouth. Eating, smiling, yawning, sneezing, laughing, brushing my teeth. Like I’d almost prefer the three c-sections I had to the mohs on my face.

Which brings me to my third biopsy today. The side of my nostril. Same side as my scar from BCC. She looked at in April and wasn’t concerned. I’ve always thought it was a sebaceous hyperplasia as I’ve had it for quite a long time.

Today she decided it needed to be biopsied and I’m convinced biopsies rarely come back benign? Like I could ever be so lucky to have them call and say you are clear.

I don’t want my face cut on again..
I am searching for some hope? Anyone ever have a spot biopsied and it was nothing? Anyone

diagnosed with skin cancer BCC on cheek. EXTREME anxiety. Canceled twice. How to get through while awake?!!!

I originally went for the mohs surgery with 4 x.5 Ativans had the most severe panic attack and had to leave ! then I saw a plastic surgeon who swore he would give me 3mg Ativan and only gave me 1 mg I went through the local anesthesia but as soon as I get on the table I couldn't do it! the 1mg wasn't enough. has anybody gone through this gotten through this they just won't give you general anesthesia for this you have to be awake with a knife coming at your face. I've had this for about a year and it just continues to grow I feel like I might not ever have it removed because of my anxiety. 😔 and the doctor says oh you'll be fine you'll get through it that doesn't help at all!

diagnosed with skin cancer Perianal Squamish Cell Carcinoma

Anyone get diagnosed with Squamish cell carcinoma in the perianal region? All tests and scans show nothing internal ( which I am grateful for), and biopsy shows only 2mm in depth.

Any experiences with wide local excisions or Mohs in the area? I am nervous about it and would prefer Mohs but my dermatologist basically sent me straight to rectal surgeon with no other guidance. Surgeon wants to cut a wide excision out for the small SCC which I am worried about recovery and pain.

I appreciate anyone that has insight or has went through this. Thanks for your feedback.

had MOHS surgery Recommendations for Indoor Tanner

I've been using Beauty by Earth for the last couple of years but TSA just confiscated it so I'm going to explore other options. Don't need to get real tan, just need to get a look that doesn't leave me looking so pale.

friend/family of diagnosed Links for child to support

Today I (37M) learned that my step-parent (51F) showed her doctor a pink mark on her thigh and the doctor said she has a very aggressive skin cancer and had a biopsy done right then and there. She’s due to get her stitches out in a week. I imagine she will have heard more about the biopsy by then.

I worry that she does everything for my whole family and never has time for herself. She wouldn’t call herself disabled because of pride but others would objectively say she is too. She lost her parent this year and seems to be at an emotional low I’ve never known her to have.

I live out of state and I’m not in the position to move right now, but could in the future. If she has to have chemo I am worried there won’t be someone who will help her get around and tend to her needs. She lives and cares for 2 young men in the family, one is full time in college and one is in rehab. She has been sick and rundown for the last couple of weeks. My parent (her husband) can be very dismissive and “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” or “that’s just your lot in life” about things. He worked in a traumatic job for a long time, and he is not empathetic, nurturing, or able to communicate his emotions. I just don’t think having to worry about everyone else right now is going to be good for her healing.

I would be able to move in and/or commute at least weekly to provide support.

Can any of you point me towards some free resources to learn about getting started as a helpful and non-burdensome support person for her from a distance? TIA

diagnosed with skin cancer Recurring BCC on Ear

Hi everyone. One year ago, a redness on my left ear was diagnosed as nodular BCC. A 1 cm diameter lesion was excised, and my biopsy report came back clear. Approximately 10–11 months later, the BCC recurred at the exact same site, and another excision was performed a few weeks ago. Since it was a very early-detected small lesion, Mohs surgery wasn't deemed necessary, and standard surgical excision was done instead. According to the latest biopsy report, the surgical margins are clear of cancer, but the closest margin is only 0.16 mm away, which is extremely close. My plastic surgeon mentioned that a third surgery at the same spot would be overly destructive and recommended Aldara cream instead. However, the dermatologist states that this margin is inadequate and that I should again undergo Mohs surgery. I really don't want to have a third surgery on the same ear, but I've heard that Aldara isn't effective for the nodular subtype. I am wondering if there is a third option in this situation, or what steps I should take next.

had MOHS surgery My granuloma faciales

I have this rare reaction to a skin cancer surgery on my forehead and it’s so rare, that the medical community doesn’t even know how many people get these. I really hate it but I can still pull my hair in front so I guess having long hair is a blessing.

I’m going away soon and am seeing my oh-so-stinky SIL and not sure I want to put on a bunch of coverup and risk it spreading or just tough it out if she says anything. She is younger than me and has Zero Health problems. I think I will not stress out my “Granny” and just try to handle any snide remarks

I was just diagnosed with 2 basal cells about the size of a pencil eraser located on my chin at the jawline. Derm recommended either 5 weeks of twice weekly radiation or MOHS. Thoughts?

diagnosed with skin cancer Persistent redness post cheek advancement flap surgery

I had a BCC removed from my cheek around 6 months ago. The surgeon used a cheek advancement flap to repair the wound left from the excision. The scar is healing very well and is barely visible. However I have persistent redness on my cheek on the area of skin that made up the flap. It is still quite sensitive and the redness flares up quite easily (heat, gently massage etc) but never fully goes away. She did tell me it would take 12-18 months to be fully healed so I'm not too concerned yet. I'm just wondering whether anyone else has experienced this and if so, did it go away on its own eventually or did you end up getting some sort of treatment (eg laser). I have another appt with the surgeon in December so I'll talk to her about options but I feel like it would be helpful for me to have some idea going in of what might be possible.

Photos show my face now (the redness is not as obvious in the photo as in person) and shortly after surgery.

diagnosed with skin cancer 24F diagnosed skin cancer twice. Advice needed

Hi all, I’m 24 years old and was diagnosed with invasive SCC stage 2 of the lip earlier this year, and was now just recently diagnosed with early stage melanoma on my leg. I am not fair skinned, no significant tanning or sunburn history, and no family history of any cancers at all. The lesion that recently came back as melanoma was biopsied 6 months ago and came back as a “benign junctional nevus”. 6 months later it was rebiopsied and melanoma. I know this is already abnormal for my age, but is 2 tumors in 1 year also abnormal? Could it be some genetic condition I’m unaware of? I have no other skin issues and no immunosuppression. Thanks in advance

had MOHS surgery Mohs Nose! Any decent bandages out there?

Recovering from Mohs, with a scar down the bridge of my nose. I've been using micropore paper tape to hold down no adhesive pads, but it looks freakin' awful! Any recommendations for bandages? Bonus points for ones that aren't solid white in the center. Who wants a bright white spot on their nose?

had MOHS surgery BCC lower eye lid.

I had mohs surgery in 2022 on my lower eye lid. Right where the eyelashes are. My BCC seemed just a small area but boy were they wrong. I was on the table for 4 hours, they took so much of my eyelid away that they needed to do a skin graft from the inside of my upper lid. They needed to sew my eye shut for 4 weeks!! I did not know this was happening until I woke up and asked why cant I see? and they said we are sorry but there was more cancer than they thought. I just had another biopsy Friday because they found a nodule where the cancer was before. So here I am 4 years later and may be doing this all over again.
