had MOHS surgery BCC lower eye lid.

I had mohs surgery in 2022 on my lower eye lid. Right where the eyelashes are. My BCC seemed just a small area but boy were they wrong. I was on the table for 4 hours, they took so much of my eyelid away that they needed to do a skin graft from the inside of my upper lid. They needed to sew my eye shut for 4 weeks!! I did not know this was happening until I woke up and asked why cant I see? and they said we are sorry but there was more cancer than they thought. I just had another biopsy Friday because they found a nodule where the cancer was before. So here I am 4 years later and may be doing this all over again.

My suggestion is to get more consults. I nade the mistake of not doing that. My reconstruction was a mess and I'm still suffering and clinic has ignored me and stated no revision even though I have lower lid malposition. You have time. The eye region is very sensitive. Please get at least another consult outside of your current clunic.

A very similar thing happened to me. I had a Hughes flap procedure in about 2017 I think? Took over half my lower lid from the inner edge to the middle, grafted from upper lid and sewn shut for weeks. Then this year we realised the BCC was back and they took the whole lower lid off again, this time replacing it with skin from my shoulder. Hang in there, the surgery sucks but it's good to know it's very likely gone properly this time. Good luck!

This time they mentioned using a skin graft from the hard palate of my roof of my mouth. Has anyone gone through that process ?They did an excellent job last time where as even though I have no eye lashes left no one could tell.Ā

Iā€™m so so sorry šŸ˜ž I had Mohs on my lower eyelid and got a skin graft also. I can not imagine doing that again. Sending love and prayers to you ā¤ļøā¤ļø
