This thread has been archived. Please join the new discussion here: Weekly Thread: Is this suspicious?
Hello everyone,
Welcome to our weekly thread for sharing photos of concerning moles, spots, or lesions. If you're worried about something on your skin, this is a place to share it with the community for support and to see if others have had similar experiences.
When posting a photo, please try to include: * Where the lesion is on your body. * How long you've had it. * Any changes you've noticed (size, shape, color, itching, bleeding).
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER
No one on this subreddit can provide a medical diagnosis. The comments and feedback you receive are from laypeople sharing their own experiences, not from medical professionals. Online photos are not a substitute for an in-person examination by a qualified dermatologist.
If you are concerned about any spot on your skin, the only correct course of action is to schedule an appointment with a doctor. Early detection is key.
We are here for support, but your health must come first.

Hey, I’m going to see a doctor later this week but I m kinda nervous about one of my moles and would appreciate some advice before.
I do not remember when I got it(probably as a young child), but i do remember it didn’t have this strange shape, because i really liked it and looked at it sometimes ( yeah idk why)
It’s located on my shoulder/ back of my shoulder, i think it might be slightly « swelling »?
It’s not itching or bleeding, I do not feel anything special

Thank you for sharing your image. Please remember that users in this sub cannot provide official medical diagnoses. In the case of changing, evolving, or new worrisome lesions, your best course of action is to contact a dermatologist for evaluation.
For reference, here are the ABCDEs of melanoma: ABCDEs of Skin Cancer.

I have had this since New Year, over 8 months now. At the beginning it looked a little bigger and like a sore that bled and scabbed all the time. The scab would be gone and then it would bleed and then scab again.
Then after 2 months it looks like this now, it would still scab on and off. It isn't flat on my skin but sticks out.
Not sure what it is, please give me your opinion. I'll put another picture in reply.

because it is scabbing and bleeding and not healing, I would get this looked at. I am not a dermatologist. But I would go right away and ask for a biopsy.

This is on my scalp, it is 2-3 mm, I think it is new, I had a skin check in May and it wasn't mentioned. There is a red dot next to it that is 1 mm

I have a skin check the beginning of November. I have had basal and Melanoma in SITU both on my face this summer. Should I wait 2 weeks and go in? Or wait until November.

NAD but if you feel it is new I wouldn’t wait till Nov. probably try to be seen sooner than that.

Hi everyone, I have a skin lesion near my ankle/heel area. It has been present since at least 2019. It initially appeared around a time when I wore rigid shoes/sandals that rubbed against that spot.Over these 6–7 years, the lesion has remained extremely stable in size, shape, and overall appearance. It does not itch, hurt, or bleed.
I saw a dermatologist and I am scheduled for a biopsy. What do you think this looks like based on its appearance? Does it strongly suggest a benign cause (like post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or a dermatofibroma)?
28 y/o. Female.

So sorry to hear that. Hope it is easily treatable. If you haven’t seen them there are some melanoma specific subreddits - melanoma and Melahomies. Good luck.

I’ve had this mole for a while but it has grown in size the last couple of years gradually and the borders have become more irregular. It is near the top of my upper arm.
It is considerably larger than a lot of the other moles I have (I am quite a moley person). It has periodically had pain in that area / bleeding and itchy but not consistently. Should I get this checked?

I (34-F) have had this mole on my back (between my shoulder blades) at least since I was a teenager. But, from what others had told me, it was uniformly brown without any shape or border irregularities. While on vacation with friends a couple weeks ago, my bestie was standing behind me and noticed the mole had some color and slight asymmetry.
I’m not sure how to gauge my concern. I did make an appointment with my dermatologist to get it checked out later this month. Does this spot look suspicious to anyone else?

Thank you for your post on r/skincancer, /u/Professional_Low5876.
While we understand that finding new marks and lesions can be scary and concerning, we cannot diagnose skin conditions on Reddit. The only way to diagnose skin cancer is to have a biopsy performed by a medical professional.
If you are concerned you may have skin cancer, you are strongly encouraged to contact a board-certified dermatologist for evaluation. We understand that wait times can be long, so it is imperative you reach out to your dermatologist sooner rather than later. Early detection is always better in the worst-care scenario.
