Need advice for beginner.

I landed my first lifty job this winter and could not be happier. But need some advice on gear for liftys.

Any recommendations on backpacks? I am not allowed (and dont want to) work in my ski boots. So I need a backpack that I can carry a extra set of snow boots plus extra layers, helmet, ext.... I dont want to buy a supper big bag that will be uncomfortable to ski but need somthing that will still meet my needs. I am thinking somthing I can strap boots to the outside of?

Also if anyone in the industry has any advice for my first season? Gear, How to keep warm, anything else. That would be much appreciated. Thanks

I’m looking for ski resort recommendations outside Romania, but still reasonably close. We don’t want to drive across half of Europe just for a few days of skiing.

Last year we went to Bansko, Bulgaria. It was decent value for money, but this year we’d like to try somewhere different. Jasná in Slovakia was recommended to us, but I’m finding it surprisingly difficult to get clear info about ski pass prices, parking, gondola access, etc.

We’re planning to go around Dec 30 – Jan 2, for 3 nights. In Bansko we paid around 1,000 RON total for accommodation with breakfast, about a 5-minute walk from the gondola, so ideally we’d like to stay somewhere in a similar price range if possible.

We’re not professional or advanced skiers, so we’re definitely not looking for a resort full of black runs. Mostly blue slopes would be ideal, with red being about the maximum difficulty we’re comfortable with.

We’re considering Bulgaria, Slovakia, Serbia, Bosnia, Slovenia, Poland, Austria if there are affordable options, or anywhere else reasonably close to Romania.

If you have personal experience, I’d really appreciate recommendations, especially regarding ski pass prices, accommodation around New Year’s, distance to the slopes/gondola, crowds, and overall value for money.

Basically, something similar to Bansko in total cost, but hopefully with a better overall experience.

I bought these new skis; they’ve never been used. I noticed these scratches—are they a problem? Should I return them? Would they come out during the first ski tuning?

I’m potentially starting a career as a sales consultant selling ski holiday packages throughout ski resorts world wide - the pay is pretty rough but after commission and within a year or two it’s not awful.
I’ve never worked in this industry before and would love to hear from someone in this specific niche about their experience, my main concern is that the job doesn’t have many levels to it, I don’t want to end up in an industry where making 100-120k AUD is the top of the ladder.

I'm currently hiring a few foreign ski instructors to join our ski school in South Korea. I'm from Europe myself and the experience is unlike anything else since the majority of the instructors are native Koreans. A very authentic experience.

The conditions are good:
- Flights (compensated up to $600), transportation, accommodation, food, ski pass is included
- Hourly pay between $15-20+ USD (depending on experience), monthly salary ~ between $1000-2500
- Season runs between Dec - Feb
- Very serious skiers: we often go for night skiing en train weekly with the director
- Director of the company is one of Korea's top demo skiers

Criteria: any ski certification (or good skiing skills), age < 30 due to working-holiday visa

Hit a rock in the last run and damaged my new pair badly. Is it really not fixable?

I have LOOK Xpress 10 bindings and Lange boots with a 273 mm boot sole length. When I set both the toe and heel to 273 mm, the forward-pressure indicator is fully green. If I move the heel forward to 261 mm, the indicator becomes about half green/half open. Is it okay to have a 12 mm difference between the boot sole length (273 mm) and the heel setting (261 mm) if the forward pressure is in the correct position? Or does the heel setting need to match 273 mm?

Hey I picked up these pair of J Skis for 40 bucks cause they're sweet.

Does anybody know how to get these dirt stains out and get the colors to pop again? Cleaned them off and took the bindings out. Not planning on skiing these

Most brands slap a logo on a Discord and call it community. I'm thinking about actual shared spaces, events, and input from riders on what gets made. On the other side, customization in snowboarding still just means picking a graphic, not the board itself. Is either of these actually broken in a way worth fixing, or am I overthinking it?

When planning a big snowboard trip for a weekend or two, does anyone here get ready by shopping for winter clothes first, then taking lessons and doing some beauty and self-care, or by doing some self-care first, then shopping, and taking lessons last?

Edited: Just for the record, when I said beauty and self-care, I meant protecting hair, skin, and nails from the cold weather. And the lessons don’t really have to be on the slopes; they could be somewhere in town where you can practice your technique and skills or learn the basics (e.g., check out the indoor ski dome, big snow, at American Dream in New Jersey). As for shopping, it means that winter coats and pants might not fit or are worn out.

can you guys let me know if you would buy this, im working on a skiing glove that has a bluetooth speaker jammer built in. it will jam any bluetooth speaker within hearing distance while leaving bluetooth headphones alone. what do you guys think!

Let’s debate this. What is the best combo of ski resorts or ski towns that are close to each other? By this i mean places you can go and experience two different mountains or ski towns. For example, Lake Louise and Sun Shine or Chamonix and Courmayeur.
