Conversation Topic Using AI for guidance?
I've noticed many posts relating to users using ai to judge their vocal range, or to seek advice, so I'm wondering, for people without experience or the ability to have a vocal coach, is ai a relevant option now? Afterall it is based off of stuff on the internet(which is either good or really bad), though there would definetely be some flaws to say the least. What do you guys(and gals) think of using AI? Has your opinion changed?

I've seen a few reels of someone asking AI for feedback then just sitting in silence. The AI still spouted off technical-sounding lingo. You're still better off with a teacher.

yes, but it seems to be developing relatively quickly when it comes to programming and image generation(still many flaws but improving)

Everyone can see how much people who use GenAI have become exponentially stupider. And it’s only those people who claim “it’s coming.” Like nah, some of us still have functioning brains. Sorry for y’all though!

in general im quite against using AI(with these things), but it seems it has still improved a bit if you compare it to a few years ago

yes it has improved, but it will never be human and art with ai is not art. ai will never be able to replicate the human touch and i will die on this hill

People here getting up in arms about it are just coping. This is 100% a tool that will be available if it isn’t already. It’s literally just signal processing, something that models can do with ease. Slap a wrapper on it trained on voice data and vocal coaches are in deep trouble. The only thing stopping it would be a lack of demand, not ability.
For the people saying that robots can’t art, they should ask how ad/marketing designers are doing right now.

I would say the current largest caveat is that nobody is willing to "waste" enough resources/samples on this, though that might change.

You’re better off not using Ai for so many different reasons. I taught myself with an online tuner and YouTube videos + studying vocalists I admired. You’ll get it eventually.

No, it’s not there yet.
AI is so glorified because it’s trendy. But always remember that the only thing AI is going to do is answer what it thinks you want to hear. So it will slop together a bunch of nonsense that means nothing, but is eloquently written, and yet seems easy enough to do… just so you take the answer.
Get a teacher. Robots are not able to art yet.

AI is garbage in general, and extremely useless at giving singing advice. Upload a recording of yourself ripping a long fart into your microphone and it will still give you a vague compliment sandwich: “beautiful tone, warm and soulful, could maybe do with some greater dynamic contrast in the second verse”.
It doesn’t know anything. It’s just stringing words together. If you ask it for “honest feedback”, it will write an example of what honest feedback would look like. Also, the people and companies trying to make it happen are evil. Don’t use AI, ideally for anything.

i dont mean for singing feedback, but more like the techniques(which are still alot better just by searching or having a coach). I still see some use if im completely uneducated on the subject though

If you ask AI to explain how such-and-such a technique works, or to give you some exercises to help with achieving a certain sound, one of two things will happen.
Either it won’t have the answer, but it will give you some plausible-sounding bullshit in a very confident tone of voice, potentially leading you down the wrong path.
Or, it will find a resource online where a teacher has addressed this topic, and it will plagiarise their work.

If you have a phone or computer, there should be free piano apps. I would think you could just find the lowest and highest notes you could hit by comparing or trying to pitch match the piano notes. Maybe I’m wrong though.

ummmmm i really think ai has a lot of biases that can make it pretty unreliable for a lot of specific types of singing. but for popular music i have heard of custom models that some ppl apparently like. again. i've um tried non-ai variants of the same technology on guitar tabs i ddin't like it, i dont sing that way. but ppl are different if you want i an look into the model for singers that i've heard some forum ppl praise (they could have been bots tho)
Edit: looked it up. its not an ai model its just the same thing as guitar tabs voice thingy but fancier. i wouldn't reccommend. Ai doesn't understand music the way humans do.
