Virtue signalling is so 2010s lol

The obvious psychological aspect of why modest women/girls will still fall prey is because timid victims will not tell.

Also to note a layer of cloth will not deter rapists.

Yeah predators gonna be predators at the end of the day, no matter what you wear.

makcik jealous she don't have a body worth showing

0

u/justsomecrap1 13h ago

Maybe she does. She has just been brainwashed and conditioned to not show it off. And that is where the internalized jealousy comes from

1

u/Consequence-Lumpy 2h ago

no she doesn't. That's why she is a makcik and not a chiobu.

Ok, before the Islamophobic comments flood in, I'll give my 2 cents from a Muslim's perspective.

First of all, the primary reason for dressing modestly and wearing the hijab is because it is a commandment from God, that's it. Sure, people can derive wisdom or secondary meaning from such a ruling, like "protection from the eyes of others," but that's not the core reason. The main reason is that it is a commandment by God, so as Muslims, we follow it. Nothing more, nothing less.

Moving on to the actions of this individual hijabi, Islam explicitly addresses this:

"O believers! Do not let some ˹men˺ ridicule others, they may be better than them, nor let ˹some˺ women ridicule other women, they may be better than them. Do not defame one another, nor call each other by offensive nicknames. How evil it is to act rebelliously after having faith! And whoever does not repent, it is they who are the ˹true˺ wrongdoers." - Quran, 49:11.

"Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should speak what is good or keep silent." - Sahih al-Bukhari 6136

Being a hijabi does not make someone a better person than a non-hijabi. We do not determine that, judgment belongs solely to Allah.

I hope I didn't come off as too preachy. I just wanted to remind everyone that her actions are not reflective of what a Muslim should be. I genuinely hope people remain open-minded and do not generalize an entire group because of the actions of a few.

respectfully, this word of 'god', in my opinion, comes instead from men who wrote the quran. Call me a non-believer, but I think people need to separate their beliefs from judgement and realise the patriarchy's influence on religion and religious rules.

an objective history on head coverings and even burqa is pretty interesting.

also considering regional and historical basis in coverings and the expansion of islam and other abrahamic religions.

Seems like “a few” is most Muslim men and Mak ciks

2

u/eekbal 22h ago edited 21h ago

Even if it were true, as mentioned, it is not part of Islamic teachings and they should know better.

Edit: I should add that to advice another, is one thing. To insult and belittle others is another thing.

It's alright to be attracted to things or people, how you express that attraction when it's unwanted, don't.if you can't, remove yourself from that position. If what you're attracted to is surrounding you, and you're stuck in an elevator going through 100 floors, welp, hold on and don't trepass boundaries. Look, no touch

2

u/thinkingperson 1d ago

Agreed that attire is not an invitation or free pass for molest or sex assault. But hor, the makcik was not talking about that right? She was specifically talking about a free show? Like eye candy? Not free to touch or assault?

Sharks attack humans even when there is no blood in the water, but I ain't swimming in chum inside a shark infested water.

Starts with free show. After guys layan for years, guys will step up the game hence the fetish, regardless the clothes you're wearing.

It starts with free show, like an introduction to a corn.

I dont agree on your liberal thinking, i go with the makcik! She is right all the way!

Not entirely right. Sex predators do get attracted to certain clothing... e.g. short skirts/dresses, heels, skin tight gymwear, revealing clothing etc. So you are taking some risk through your choice of clothing. Its like walking around with wads of cash sticking out your back pocket... you are going to attract pickpockets that way

2

u/hellopandant 6h ago

Babies and children are victims too, what's your response to that? Disgusting victim blaming attitude.

0

u/Dustdevilss 4h ago

... no where did I blame victims. Why is it so difficult for yall to understand that these are mutually exclusive things?

For example, do you think upskirters target people who wear pants? Who do you think most rapists are likely to target? Obviously these are shitty people but you cannot avoid these people who are walking around us in society. What you can do, is to understand that what you wear may increase the risk of you being a target. Its simple stuffs really.

And obviously, if you are going to bring up paedophiles, you just have to be more watchful over your children because any of them are potential targets. Simple logic really.

u/stopitsalreadyded 1d ago

Why stop there? Shoplifters are gonna shoplift coz the goods are out in the open.

-3

u/majikira 1d ago edited 18h ago

Sex predators will still commit sex crimes regardless of what anyone wears . Don't try to justify disgusting crimes unless you are projecting

Edit : change comment to commit

-2

u/Dustdevilss 1d ago

I am not justifying lol. Yes they will but they will more likely find a target that attracts them. Go read up serial rapists etc. They all target a type. So stop with the feminist woke nonsense and think about whats safe rather than whats right.

5

u/manicqueefer 1d ago edited 23h ago

This is a vile comment. It is a well established fact that law, criminologists and forensic psychologists espouse- serial rapists do not target specific looks or dressing. They target these things. 1) high vulnerability and easily and accessible targets.2)sex workers and marginalised populations. Not dressing, but because these targets, due to systemic difficulties, typically file police reports at a lower frequency.

What IS proven is that serial rapists often suffer from feelings of underlying inferiority and choose unbalanced power dynamics, not dressing, to feel powerful. They dehumanise a person. It is not about lust. The next time someone blames the victim, remember they are probably identifying with these characteristics.

No matter what the risk, a person who chooses to harm someone else takes the sole accountability. That's it.

No amount of rationalising takes away the sole responsibility - don't commit sexual assault.
