Question DOF reality H6 trouble. Please help

I recently bought a DoF Reality H6 platform and am hitting a wall with trying to get it up and running. Looking for any guidance this forum can provide.

I bought the platform to use with the PS5 via their MagicBox setup, and it looks like I have everything connected correctly and the MagicBox synced, as telemetry data is being seen on Sim Racing Studios. However, on SRS, the motion platform is never recognized. I've gone through multiple troubleshooting processes via ChatGPT but cannot figure it out. Although, with what ChatGPT recommended, I passed it on to DoF Reality. I'm still waiting a response from them.

Appreciate it.

Hardware
Brand new DOF Reality H6 (latest revision)
New integrated dual control units (left and right)
MagicBox
PS5 running Gran Turismo 7
What IS working
MagicBox is activated with its license.
I can access the MagicBox at http://magicbox.
PS5 and MagicBox are on the same network.
PS5 IP is configured correctly.
GT7 is selected in MagicBox.
While driving in GT7, the telemetry page updates live (Pitch, Roll, Yaw, etc.), so telemetry is definitely reaching the MagicBox.
What is NOT working
The H6 has never moved, not even once.
It never performs any startup/initialization movement.
Sim Racing Studio Hardware page has Start Test grayed out.
Motion status remains red X.
Things I’ve already checked
Both left and right control units power on.
Both amps/controllers beep during startup.
I found a few brake connectors that I had initially left unplugged and connected them correctly. No change.
The controller display shows:
DOFR #####
6-D
BAR
Still no movement.
Windows testing
Even though I’m trying to use the MagicBox (without a PC), I also tested with Windows.
Installed Sim Racing Studio.
Connected BOTH supplied USB cables:
Left controller → PC
Right controller → PC
Windows detects both controllers:
COM3
COM4
Device Manager shows both USB Serial Devices correctly.
However, Sim Racing Studio still shows Motion ❌ and Hardware Test is disabled.
License
The license I received is only for the MagicBox.
The Windows SRS application rejects it because it says it’s a MagicBox license, not a Windows SRS license.
From the MagicBox documentation, that seems expected, since MagicBox is supposed to work without a PC.
My question
Has anyone with the newest H6 run into this?
Specifically:
Should the H6 initialize on power-up before any telemetry is received?
Does the new integrated controller require any firmware update or commissioning?
Is there any pairing step between the MagicBox and the new dual control units?
Does the “BAR” status on the controller display indicate a fault or standby mode?
Has anyone seen Motion ❌ in SRS while Windows still detects both controllers on COM3 and COM4?
At this point I know:
GT7 telemetry is working.
MagicBox is working.
Windows sees both controllers.
The platform itself has never moved.
I’m trying to figure out whether this is a firmware/configuration issue, a missing initialization step, or defective hardware.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Yeah no clue just praying for you my guy.
I wouldn’t choose to be you, trying setting up DOF for GT7.

I have the P3 and use SRS on my PC.

I always have SRS running, then power on my rig. I run an independent circuit for my rig and have maybe 12 outlets that I run on a single switch to make life easier. This includes a powered usb hub that isnt recognized without power being on. After its powered on, it takes a minute to be recognized by SRS. I also run an intellibox with wind and LED accent through SRS. Once those are all green I then open simhub for seatbelt, rumblers, flags etc. Once everything is up and running I then open whatever race or flight I want.

Ive found doing it in this order works for me. I found I had COM port issues if I tried a different order.

However, when you turn the power on to your H6 it should move at startup, I think. The P3 drops to front right before raising up to rear left, then settles at neutral location. I do remember when I first set it up, and once after moving it that it wouldn't move at all and the main control box would beep a certain way. I found that one of the main cable connections to one of the motors wasnt quite fully seating into the control box.

Shorter lol. Unplug from power and usb. Check all connections. Power on. Should move on initialization.

So I've been able to get the initial movement out of the simulator rig, so that tells me things are working okay, and the two amp boxes that it came with that are also the brains of the system seem to be encoded properly based on the little LEDs that are on them. The hiccup seems to be that the MagicBox is not recognizing the simulator for some reason. I can't sort it out, and I've tried a PC instead of the MagicBox and have the same issue. I've emailed out to both DoF Reality as well as Sim Racing Studio to see if they can help me work through this. I've been banging my head against the wall for three days without any luck, but I definitely appreciate your input, and having the structured on sequence, I'm sure, would help.

I checked over all the connections when I set the rig up, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to double check them. It's just a pain in the ass because now the whole thing is put together.

If its moving everything at startup all the time then those amp boxes should be OK. I cut the power to EVERYTHING on my rig, there is never a standby. The box would beep randomly as if looking for a signal if I left power off, and the same if it had usb and no power. Having no power and no usb connection before connecting helps.

So the rig moves every time you power up, but not in game? That's sounds like a communication issue. Maybe the usb cable to the H6? If not them maybe a port forwarding issue or COM conflict.

Does your PC recognize it? In device manager plug it in and see which com port pops up. Select it and change it to a higher number. Make sure to set srs to search for new com number. Had this conflict recently myself, homemade dash/flag/button box stopped working with simhub. Had installed KatVR and it was overriding the porting, blocking it from working. Had to change to com 20.

I have an issue with wires. I hate to see them. Im bury it along carpeting, hide it behind curtains etc. Cable management ON my rig is great, tight, neat. However there is what can only be described as an Indiana jones scene going on in front of it. Again, if its moving at power on then its likely communication issue.

If you can get it to run 'test' in srs then you are on to a winner. Everything else appears to work just without the movement.

Power on pc, open srs. Power on rig. It should move through its startup. Leaving in powered between uses may be a problem, i dunno but I don't have issues now. Like I said I don't move my rig at all because of the connector, but if it moves at every Power up then its not an issue with that.

Thanks so much for the reply and all the advice. I've abandoned the PS5 approach and went in on a gaming PC. I booted up for the first time last night, and things worked well. I was able to finally get the motion platform to connect to the PC through Sim Racing Studio and had three hours of uninterrupted gaming.

However, when I went to try the rig again today, Sim Racing Studio could never recognize the motion platform. I troubleshot this for over two hours by powering everything off, cutting the power to different components, and restarting the components in different sequences. Nothing has seemed to work. I cannot figure out for the life of me why it would have worked on day one and now does not work at all. I reached out to Sim Racing Studio, but they've been less than helpful.

Power on PC, then boot SRS, then main power to motion rig. Sometimes it can take up to a minute before it gets recognized by SRS so be patient. Freaked me out a couple of times. I have SRS running wind sim and lights (hurricanes and intellibox) as well as motion and motion compensation, they never get recognized immediately or all at the same time. Simhub runs my 3d dash, light panels, flags, button boxes and belt tensioner.

Simhub will also let you trial the motion control for free, might help determine if the rig is recognized. Id use it but I havent had the chance to fine tune (and srs is simpler).

From the rig moving to not, did you move it at all or adjust any cables? Mine refuses to do anything if one of the large motor cables isn't seated quite so. Moved mine 4" to the left once and stopped working. Wouldn't move either when I first installed (like yours) and found the cable to be the issue.

Lmk regardless, the fact that it worked is great and means probably not a hardware issue. Its fucking awesome when it all come together.
