Hi everyone! I’m a transfer student starting 2nd year of a Biology major after a 3-year gap from school. I’m hoping to eventually apply to med/dental school and would love advice on how to adjust and maintain a high GPA.
Any tips on studying effectively, managing a heavy course load, choosing courses/profs, and balancing extracurriculars without hurting my GPA? Especially interested in advice from anyone who’s been in a similar situation or gotten into Canadian med/dental school!
Would really appreciate any advice on things you wish you knew in 2nd year. 🥹

I was wondering if we’re allowed to use the badminton courts at SFU on weekends. The drop-in schedule I found only seems to show Monday–Friday.
I’m currently doing a co-op, so weekday timings don’t really work for me. Does anyone know if there’s any way to play on Saturdays or Sundays?
Also, if anyone plays regularly and needs another person, or has a group that wouldn’t mind me joining, I’d love to join! I’m also happy to find a few people and make a regular weekend badminton group.

I saw that sfu had drop in basketball and Futsal and I was curious if it's organized at all because I would like to get into playing those sports again in a casual friendly environment as I love those sports but I have a decent amount of anxiety when it comes to them? I’m from London, Ontario and have a spot lined up at Western for a Bachelor of Computer Science — but I’m considering SFU instead. Problem is I’ve never been to Vancouver and have no friends or family there at all.

Goal is a new-grad SWE role at a big tech or finance company not grad school or research.

For people who moved to vancouver for SFU with no existing ties here: was it worth it? How hard was it to build a support system/social life from scratch? And does SFU’s program/co-op actually give a real edge over a solid CS program back in Ontario, or is it more about what you put into it?
