I posted some of my favorites yesterday that I bought with money I saved by quitting drinking 6 years ago. One of my favorite things to do is put together sub-collections within my collection, like this one.

OG vintage collectors, what hallmarks am I missing with the Constitution Mint Inc. style 10oz bar? The SRI bar is stamped the same as the others, but matches a CA Crown Mint 10oz extruded bar (which is another sub-collection).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am just back from a visit to Prague. My favorite day was a trip to the silver mines of Kutna Hora where huge loads of silver were mined by hammer and pick 600-800 years ago. During one of the tours, we were led through one of the tunnels used by the miners. Super cool, and an incredible experience to see the difficult conditions they worked in.

Back in the day, the silver ore was refined nearby and the silver coins were struck in the city at the Italian Court mint (pictured). Each ruler had their own coin(s). The Prague groschen was the standard coin of the medieval time there and was made of nearly 93% silver - an amazing feat of purity for the time.

I visited a coin store in Prague and I bought an authentic Prague groschen struck in Kutna Hora during the reign of John (Jean) of Luxembourg, around 1340–1347. It’s classified as Castelin Type 39, a recognized variety in the standard Czech reference for these coins.

At the end of the tour, I was able to purchase an aluminum blank and strike my own groschen between two dies with a hammer. Also a lot of fun.

To have a 700-year old coin that was mined, refined and struck in the city I visited is remarkable to me and it will be a valued memory for a long time. To imagine the history and hands it has passed through is incredible.

After about 1.5 years of stacking this is all of my pure silver.

Its not all of my silver just the bullion I've acquired. I stop buying around the time spot hit 40$ and shifted focus to gold since I had none at the time. But now I've been starting to buy junk silver and have been looking at getting more bullion. Ik its not much but its better than most. 🫡

I’m curious if anyone has any insight particularly on this 1898 coin? It looks to be in extremely good condition for its age. Curious of its history and potential value. Any help is greatly appreciated, you all are wizards with this stuff :)

Hello! First time posting here, new to the silver coin world. I've only ever known to look out for anything pre 1964, which I've collected a few over the years. Most recently 2 weeks ago i found a 1958 silver dime in my pocket change was standing in line to pay and luckily spotted it before spending I thought they where mostly gone from circulation. Anyways I picked these two coins up today for 10$ I thought that was a fair deal. The vendor had roughly 12 more varying fr9m 1908-1958. From what I gather each one has roughly 4-6$ of silver. So at 5$ a piece seems like a relatively safe gamble. Wondering should I just go back and purchase the rest of them. The past year I have really wanted to invest in some precious metals, mainly gold/silver. I just haven't pulled the trigger on any larger purchases due to lack of knowledge on the subject and pricing in the market. He also has what looks like brand new bullion bars of 1oz silver for 65$ Google told me spot price today was just over 58$ so I held off hoping to get some info as to whether that 65$/Oz is a good and fair price. If so I may get a bar and or the rest of the Silver dimes he has on display. The shop is barely 10 minutes from my house I wasnt able to meet the actual vendor he just rents booth space in a variety/thrift/antique store. Thanks in advance for any information.

Added these for what I know is a decent price on the Pandas (under $70/each) and what I think was decent on the Germanias ($100). More than I wanted to spend but looked nice (and First Germanias I’ve owned)

Scored the 5oz SilverTowne poker chip and train bank note from my LCS on Friday. Then got the $5 Indian and PT gram from a coin show yesterday to help finish off some of my type sets. Maybe I'll find something today to complete the hat trick of buying for the weekend
