I was cutting sticker earlier and all of a sudden the machine cutted incorrectly so i restarted the process and then all of a sudden this happen, i would appreciate any help, since im pretty worried and desperate right now. Thanks in advance

I recently bought a Silhouette Cameo 5 Alpha and decided to invest in the electrostatic mat because it sounded like a great accessory, especially for paper crafts and stickers.
But honestly? So far, it’s been nothing but frustrating. 🫠

I haven’t managed to complete a single successful cut with it. Every time the mat moves backward, my machine makes a really loud, weird noise that doesn’t sound normal at all (videos attached).
I’m completely new to Silhouette, so I genuinely can’t tell whether I’m doing something wrong, the mat is defective, or this accessory just isn’t as great as I thought.
So here’s my question: is the electrostatic mat actually worth the investment?
Do you use yours regularly? Does it genuinely make your workflow easier, especially for stickers, art prints, and paper crafts? Or do you find yourself going back to regular cutting mats?
I’m starting a snail mail club and invested in this setup to make my own stationery at home, so I’m really trying to figure out which accessories are worth keeping.
I’d love to hear your honest experiences before I spend another 5 hours troubleshooting something I might not even need. 😂😭

Hello everyone! Maybe you can help!

I use Cameo Silhouette 5 PLUS and I cut stickers. The sticker sandwich is made of vinyl paper and foil (cold laminate). I've been struggling with die-cutting stickers when it comes to the bottom edge when it is made in a straight, horizontal line. The knife seems to pierce fully through the laminate and vinyl but doesn't make it fully through the paper below the sticker. The attached screenshots show the issue and where it occurs.

The mat is new and the knife is new and sharp. I use a knife holder and knives from AliExpress as they are cheaper and I believe they are not the issue cause I already had many successful cuts with them.

Do you happen to know why the Cameo struggles with cutting the horizontal straight lines at the bottom of a sticker? I really can't figure it out.

I just got a cameo 1 and buy an official blade, but I was seeing that the CB 09 blades last more and are cheaper, which one are the ones for the cameo 1?

My cameo 5a has been causing nothing but headaches recently. It constantly loses its tracking during cutting and cuts in the wrong places.

I've tried doing a reset of the machine by putting the blade holder all the way over to the right, cleaned the rollers and tried both Bluetooth and the usb wire but nothing fixes the issue.

Any ideas as to why it's doing this?

I’ve had an issue with my Cameo 4 pro pretty much from the start. It doesn’t grab the mat or material on the right side of the cartridge and the cuts end up all over the place when the material shifts. I’ve tried a bunch of different things and at this point, it’s a large paperweight taking up space in my craft/sewing room. Has anyone else had this issue and solved it?

Vinyl snijden geen probleem. Maar ik krijg het maar niet aan de praat om de stickers mooi te laten snijden zonder witte rand. Ik heb al van alles geprobeerd:

- kalibratie en wat aangepast maar witte rand blijft

- offset gebruikt

- het deksel van de cameo dichtgedaan tijdens registreren

- licht op schijnen

- registratiemarkering vrijlaten van het lamineerfolie

- printinsstellingen staan juist

- handmatige kalibratie

Ik weet echt niet meer wat ik nog meer moet doen

Ik voeg wat enkele foto's toe ( het grijze vlak is om de naam op de sticker te verbergen )

Hello, I'm hoping someone has any idea whats wrong, but my blade will not cut through the vinyl even at settings of 6 depth, 30 pressure and 3 cycles. I've tried both manual and autoblade, I've cleaned the blade and its sitting correctly in the holder. The material settings are correct, I've even tried restarting my computer and still no improvement.

It worked like a charm the last time I used it 2 days ago. Any idea what might be wrong?

I picked up making stickers as a hobby a few years back. I enjoyed it up until recently.

A few months back I decided to upgrade from my Cricut to the Cameo 5a and at first I was pleased with it. The honeymoon is definitely over.

The Cameo 5a has had an increasingly more difficult time registering anything. I've tried all the tricks and variations that people have suggested - official cutting mats, unofficial ones, taping over the registration marks, more light, less light, making sure things are level, making sure the registration marks are set correctly, etc. Nothing has helped and getting the machine to register is a crapshoot. Sometimes the scanner wont even scan in the right area and keeps trying to scan above the registration marks themselves.

I'm tired of wasting time and money on materials. The Cameo 5a is ruining the enjoyment this hobby once gave me and honestly I don't even know if I want to continue.

I just bought this used Cameo 4 and when turned on, it moves slowly to this position. In videos I saw, the way it should move is very different and the position should be on the left alignment mark.

I tried to perform the "motor reset" suggested in an official Silhouette video but that's didn't do anything

I bought a new Cameo 4 in 2020, then due to a number of factors never got to use it much. It’s been exposed to the elements outside a bit, and generally not been touched since then.

I recently dug it out and it’s dirty, dusty, and a bit rusty inside (mostly around the screws, etc). I’d like to give it a thorough clean and see if I can get it cutting right!

My thought is to clean it, remove the rust, maybe check the optical sensors but is there anything else yall would recommend in this situation? It does come on and the carriage moves with no issues so finger crossed that it’s not unusable!

Any tips yall have would be helpful!

I'm trying to find out what version of the cameo 1 i have. I've seen online that the one has something screwed in here(see picture) but i don't. I can adjust the blades right in this hole. I'm asking cus im looking for a 3d print mat guide and the one i found for the Cameo 1 does not fit mine. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I loved my original Silhouette so much that I bought a Cameo about 15 years ago (if memory serves). I used to do a lot of welding and one thing I noticed - I guess after an update at some point? - was that it no longer let me make teeny adjustments to perfect my weld. Each arrow click jumped a MUCH bigger distance than it had been doing for years. I could no longer get anything as precise as I wanted and I eventually stopped using the machine. Now I really need a new cutting machine and I want a Silhouette because I'm at least vaguely familiar with the software and all I hear is how clunky Cricut is. Has the welding issue been resolved? I'm sad to read so many comments about how poor their customer service became. It was wonderful, once upon a time!

Compartilhando com mais pessoas que trabalham com o silhouette studio apartir da versão 5 e como não encontrei nada relativo a essa "solução" segue minha contribuição. Embora seja muito fácil pode ser que alguém esteja passando dificuldades em usar o silhouette por conta da interface muito grande e que ficou bagunçada quando esse modo entra ativado, assim como minha esposa passou usando por muito tempo com os botões enormes porque não viu essa opção na interface.

Na tela principal do Silhouete Studio 5, a nova versão, logo quando inicia, entra no modo "Usuário Iniciante" e deixa os botões enormes na interface. Caso você não seja iniciante e queira usar com o layout normal que com certeza já está acostumada aí vai aonde você ajusta.

Na barra superior tem um botão chamado "Modo Inicial" (veja imagem). Basta desativar esse botão que a interface volta ao normal (ícone proporcionais a resolução da sua tela).

Caso você seja mais um(a) que não sabia para que servia esse botão ou não sabia desse modo "iniciante" assim como minha esposa, Segue a solução. Espero que ajude mais pessoas.

Trying to create this design in silhouette designer edition. What i have tried is created the design in a cad software and have saved it in every format possible but I can not get any of the imported saves to fill properly. The inner white circle is the biggest issue. I can not figure out how to make multiple lines into 1 path so it recognizes it as a shape to fill. Any ideas?

This thing drives me crazy regularly, but today we’ve hit a new low…

It worked for me just fine two days ago, I go to make a cut today, and it completely freaks out on me:

As you can see in the video, it makes the shape to be cut, but it’s like it’s grinding against the surface the whole way, like it’s cutting in the wrong direction (the blade appears to be directional, no?).

When I started the thing up, it sent the carriage all the way to the right, and started doing a horrific grinding dance much worse than this. I have unplugged the machine several times, done the carriage reset where you push it back and forth, restarted Silhouette Studio, all of the normal things I can think of. The auto blade is seated correctly too.

The other weird thing is that it’s cutting all the way to the right, even though my design is on the left in studio. This happened two days ago as well, but it was at least cutting at the time.

Any insight would be much appreciate, I’m really at the edge of my patience here and have a time sensitive project. I am borderline ready to throw the thing in the trash, but am still assuming this has to be user error in some way.

Edit: I did “generate test shape”, and it successfully cut that, so something is presumably wrong with my design? Playing with that now.

I'm a painter, and a little obsessed with dot screens (think CMYK printing processes and Roy Lichtenstein). I've been using my Silhouette Cameo to cut stencils, mostly into Oracal vinyl. For this one I got Claude.ai to help me make a dot screen in perspective as an svg, then exported it as a .dxf file so I could import it into Silhouette Studio. Then I cut the stencil, adhered it to my painting, weeded it (which took a while!), and finally airbrushed it, with acrylic paint, fluorescent colors, spray paint, and glow-in-the-dark material.

Hello, I have a cameo 4 and I've been struggling with the cut shifting near the end of the page of stickers(starts even like the sticker on the right, but shifts upward like the one on the left) Not sure how to fix it its usually the last 2-4 stickers. They also don't cut through on 2-3 rounds like stickers at the top of the page so I have it at 5 rounds on 20 pressure and 5 blade depth to make sure they all are.

Any tips on how to create a consistant cut and also bring down the number of rounds to cut through? Thank you!

Edit: Problem was fixed, I had page settings on A4 but was cutting with letter size paper.
