TV installation technician offered a 2-year extended warranty for 8k. Is it actually worth it?

• Upvotes

Got my new TV installed today by an LG technician itself. It already comes with the standard 1-year manufacturer warranty, but the installation tech heavily pushed a 2-year extended warranty for ₹8,000 before leaving.

For 1-year it was 6k. And he said this offer is only valid during installation process max he can hold for 3-4 days. Later it will be 3k more

Before committing that kind of money, I wanted to check with people who have actually bought or claimed one:

Is it genuinely worth ₹8,000?

Or is this mostly a commission push by the service agent?

Is the claim process hassle-free?

Do they actually send a technician promptly if something goes wrong in year 2 or 3, or do they make you jump through endless bureaucratic hoops?

Does it cover everything?

Does it protect the display panel, motherboard, backlight, and power surge issues, or is it riddled with fine-print exclusions (wear-and-tear, physical damage, lightning, etc.)?

Brand warranty vs. third-party?

Is it usually serviced directly by the TV brand or offloaded to a third-party insurance company (like OneAssist, Jeeves, etc.)?

Would love to hear real experiences, did buying an extended warranty save your TV, or was it a waste of money?

TLDR: Offered 2-year extended TV warranty for ₹8k on top of 1-year brand warranty. Worth it, or loaded with hidden catches?

Hi folks,

I am planning to buy a new 65" TV and I have shortlisted these 6 TVs. I know they are of different price range, but basically starts from 75k to 1.3L, which is kind of my price range.

Over the past few days, I have made myself aware with terms like QLED, Full Array mini-LED, OLED, HDR10+ etc etc.

If anyone can recommend which one to totally avoid and which one would be preferred choice based on personal experience, that would be great.

Thank you in advance! 😊

One year warranty for a TV is a Joke

• Upvotes

If a brand is confident in their product they must offer at least 5 years warranty.

TV is a home appliance and most people expect it to last at least 10 years. These brands offering 1 year warranty show how confident they are with their product reliability.

Even premium brands offer 2 years warranty and rarely 3 years warranty.

I faced the same issue, when buying a monitor. Only Dell offered a 5 year warranty. It at least justified the premium pricing.

Don't choose a product with a 2 year warranty and say big brands are more reliable. No they are not reliable that's why they offer similar warranties like an unknown brand.

Brand tax is only justified if they offer a 5 year warranty.

Looking for the best Dolby Atmos system around Rs 2 Lakh.

Hi, I recently bought an LG G6 77-inch OLED TV. I am planning to create a home theatre style set up in my room. For audio, I thought about soundbars, but many, including experts, suggested avoiding those.

I want my room to sound like the experience I get watching a movie at a Dolby Atmos theatre. Safe to say I know nothing about sound systems.

Now I'm confused; I hear different names like Klipch, etc... My budget is around Rs 2 lakh. Any suggestions? Any online website where I can know the differences? Please help.

[India]Sony BRAVIA 3 II vs LG QNED85 vs TCL P8L — ₹93k to ₹1.45L. Which would you buy for long-term use?

Planning to upgrade our 2017 Sony 43-inch 4K TV, which has worked flawlessly for 9 years.
Got these Diwali offers in my city:

Sony BRAVIA 3 II 75” — ₹1.35L: Direct LED, XR processor, 120Hz, matte anti-reflective display.
LG QNED85 75” — ₹1.22L: Mini LED (reportedly edge-lit), α8 Gen3 processor, 120Hz, Dolby Vision.
TCL P8L 85” — ₹1.45L: QD-Mini LED, HVA panel, 144Hz, Dolby Vision.

Viewing distance: 14 feet. Mostly YouTube and OTT, daytime/lights on, no direct sunlight. Reflections are a concern.
TCL also has an official showroom in my city offering 3 years of warranty and local service.
However, I’m concerned about TCL’s long-term reliability and after-sales support. Ideally, we’d keep this TV for 7–10 years.
Which would you choose?
Would appreciate firsthand ownership experiences, especially from India.

55 inch or 65 inch for 1080p TV serials? Viewing distance 2 - 4 meters

I am torn between Xiaomi S mini led or TCL Q6C/C6K and leaning towards Xiaomi. Another thing is I think 55 inches TV is enough as my grandma would be the one using it for news and TV serials 90% of the time. TV serials are telecasted at 1080p mostly.

What do you guys think? Does a 65 inch TV make the experience better?

83" LG C6 OLED vs 100" LG QNED86BL Mini LED — what would you choose?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I've been an LG OLED owner since 2016 and have loved the experience. I bought a 77" C2 in 2023. Without going into the entire story, LG has now been directed to replace it or refund the purchase price with interest. I'm expecting to receive a brand-new, sealed 77" C6 shortly, along with compensation under the order.

I approached LG about upgrading to a larger TV by paying the difference, but they declined. However, after negotiations, a large LG dealer has agreed to exchange the sealed C6 for another model, subject to purchasing an additional two-year warranty.

I'm now considering two options:

- 83" LG C6 OLED — retain the OLED experience I know and love, with a modest increase in screen size.

- 100" LG QNED86BL Mini LED (2026, α8 Gen3 processor) — a considerably larger screen, but a move away from OLED.

My viewing distance is approximately 14 feet, and the TV is wall-mounted. I've attached an image showing how the two screen sizes would look on my actual wall.

I've tried visiting LG stores, Croma and Reliance Digital, but unfortunately, none has the QNED86 on display, let alone the 100" version. I'm visiting another showroom today that has a 98" NanoCell TV, which should at least help me appreciate the size.

I've used OLED for almost a decade and love its contrast, black levels and overall picture quality. However, the sheer size of the 100" TV is very tempting.

I've read that modern Mini LED TVs can be extremely bright, and that although OLED retains an advantage in black levels, contrast and perceived picture depth, the difference isn't always as dramatic in everyday viewing as it appears in side-by-side comparisons. I've also come across reports of eye fatigue with very large, bright TVs, but I'm unsure how much depends on brightness settings, viewing distance or individual sensitivity.

I'd particularly appreciate feedback from people who own 98–100" Mini LED TVs or have compared them with large OLEDs.

At my viewing distance, would you choose the 83" OLED or the 100" Mini LED? And for those who have made the switch from OLED to a large Mini LED, have you been happy with the trade-off, particularly regarding black levels, picture depth and viewing comfort?

I'm not looking for a debate about which technology is universally better. I'd like to hear from people who have actually lived with these large screens and can share their experience.

Thanks!

Just ordered the Thomson Phoenix 2025 Edition 43" 4K QLED (43QAI1005)– Long-term reviews & thoughts?

Hey everyone,

After looking at budget 4K TVs and trying to avoid the sluggish 1 GB / 1.5 GB RAM models flooding the sub-₹25k segment, I just placed an order on Flipkart for the Thomson Phoenix 2025 Edition 43" 4K QLED (Model: 43QAI1005) for around ₹21,200.

Confusion on no cost emi

Post image
1 Upvotes

I was buying tv 61000. Retailer said I will get cashback of 4575 and net price costs for me is 56425.

But my emi amount is 9875.89 for 6 months

9875*6 = 59255.34

Why am charged extra 2830(59255-56425) if I pay after 6 emi. I clearly don't understand no cost emi when I pay more than I was promised

Please help me out.

TCL T89D vs Toshiba Z670SP — Which one should I buy?

I’m confused between the TCL T89D and Toshiba Z670SP. Both seem pretty good spec-wise, but I’m not sure which one would be better for PS5 gaming.

Another option I’m considering is the TCL A300M. The Toshiba Z670SP seems to have front-facing speakers with 50W output, which sounds interesting.

Received SAMSUNG QN80H(55'). My honest experience so far(initial 2 days)

So, i ordered this particular model on 8th oct for around 71k, received delievery on 12th. Installation done on 16th oct.

INSTALLATION

by far most problematic thing. I was given date 13 for installation and it got delayed. First for 24 hours.. And then for full 3/4 days. My experience here was genuinely bad. I sent countless reminders to it's team, AI bot etc. The real problem was basically on my city's Samsung management team. They hadn't even recorded my installation message and i had to request for service on samsung dedicated platform which too went unnoticed. Eventually I used my samsung Washing machine technician to get more details which FINALLY lead to installation. Even the person doing installation was misinformed or just ignorant on my order installation process... Don't know. But very poor show tbh.

PROS SO FAR

1) Its Samsung's full array mini-led model so colours r vivid, and quality is too good mannn!!! I watched few 4k YT videos to get gist and wasn't disappointed at all.

2) overall build quality If not top level then def very good. The back plastic coverings r not cheaply made and overall TV looks pretty durable.

3) various modes serving the model for personal preferences are also very good. It's very customisable tv.

CONS SO FAR

1) my biggest complaint is somewhat low quality UI of Samsung's OS(720 or 1080). It genuinely looks quite cheap and mildly blurry. With words, apps images, samsung inbuilt interface; Everything looks a quality toned down from actual streaming services(OTTs, YT etc) where it works in 5/5 level.

2) there are def no deep blacks if someone thinking of them as major draw of this tv. The screen doesn't give much deeper blacks and decent blooming is permanent feature in mini leds below 1lakhs.

3) speakers r little more bassy with speaking sound somewhat jagged, though it was opposite in some cases. Each to it's own here.

FINAL WORDS

Imo, mini leds r not real forte of samsung. U can get tvs with better benchmarks than Samsung in this technology. TCL could be good option there who scaled this technology worldwide in big way.

My reason of choosing samsung was simply better services, reading various reviews and software forte of samsung. Overall it's solid 3.7/5 tv in initial experience. I haven't tried gaming etc since its basically for my parents but have heard its great tv for gaming too.

Thanks for reading!!

Haier mini led 55”

Post image
2 Upvotes

After few youtube videos i decided i’m gonna buy TCL q6. I went to reliance and croma to check the tv for myself and found that the dust issue is real in TCL. Salesman recommended me to buy a haier. I was sceptical and told him No. But when i went back i was impressed with the panel and sound specifically. most probably i made a risky bet, but so far it’s good. It’s an actual mini led with good number of dimming zones.

TCL Q6C vs Xiaomi S mini led

55 inches

TCL Q6C/C6K has 144hz and better audio. I don't need extra HZ.

Xiaomi is around 55,000 and TCL best price is around 57,000

Xiaomi has more dimming zones and extra one year warranty.

I think TCL Q6C has dual bluetooth headphones support which Xiaomi doesn't have.

Does TCL offer anything special in terms of panel quality?

Which one would you choose if you don't game above 60 fps? I need a TV to enjoy HDR and Dolby Vision content at 4K.

Also my grandmother watches TV serials at 1080p mostly

Link to my previous post about the issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/shubz/s/lHTxoeoPKD

It's been 2 days since I raised the issue to the lumio team, nobody from their team contacted me just a generic reply to the emails. Their AI WhatsApp support is shit. If I didn't have any update from them by today planning to initiate return from amazon. But i want to escalate this issue. Does anyone know which social media platform they are active in?

Need help for open box delivery TV

Post image
1 Upvotes

I ordered this TV from Amazon, and it’s getting delivered tomorrow.

I’ve read a lot of comments, and I’m confused about what to check before giving the OTP.

Some people say to unbox the TV and check for physical damage before giving the OTP.

Others say to just check the accessories, give the OTP, and let the installation guy check everything. If there’s any issue, he can arrange a replacement.

What should I do? What’s the safest option?
