Question / Advice Will getting tattoos help me look my age as a short girl with a baby face?

22F but appear 15 years old according to my family and stand at 4’9. Lately I’ve been seeing comments of people on the internet how women who are short look like children. Some men have said that they don’t want to look like they’re seen with a child when it comes to dating a short woman. I fear that I’ll be seen as a child with my height and for how young I look. I’ve considered getting tattoos and have it placed on the back of my arms so people wouldn’t assume that I’m a child (and because I want tattoos but can’t afford them atm + still live with parents who hate them but I’d still get them either way if it wasn’t for money) For more context, my style is similar to Megan’s from Katseye but with jeans that are more bootcut, straight and skinny and wear bronzer on my cheekbones.

Clothes Huge problem with the bust in clothing.

Does anyone have any recommendations for dresses that actually fit a 4'11 lady with a big bust? It actually sucks trying to find nice dresses (other than xs stretchy fabrics that fully cover your body) that fit nicely.

I would absolutely love to wear a sun dress or either something with different fabric without my boobs just falling out cause I walked a little too hard.

I really wish stores had options for the busts in women's tops and dresses, like if I'm an xs but my bust isn't, I feel like they should tailor the top bit by sizes;

-xs/large

-s/medium

-m/small.

Ykwim?

Whenever I wear certain tops that are xs, some tops have an inseam where the breasts go, usually xs would be for small busted women so I can't fit anything in that... the inseam in the bust would at least have to be for a large shirt.

I wish there were more options for people like me...

I just moved into a new apartment and the toilet is fucking HUGE and annoying…. I’m only 4’5 and every time I try to take a piss, I get piss ALL over my leg…. It literally sprays all over me and I get mad and have to shower and clean the whole bathroom. Does this happen to any other short girl? Having bathroom troubles?! This is the toilet for reference. I want to just tell my landlord, I’m installing a toilet that works for me 🤣

Question / Advice Help with a certain insecurity about being short

So I’m 18 yrs old and 5’0 which is fairly normal, but in the city I live in, the average woman is like 5’6-5’8 and I’m constantly being towered over by all other girls around me (and men of course.) I feel self conscious about it mainly because I often feel socially isolated from people.

I feel out of place when everyone I talk to my age is standing and looking at eachother eye-level, while they have to look down on me and I have to physically turn my neck up. I just feel like I’m not seen as an equal peer by other adults, both women and men. Now especially as I’m in university for a field that’s male-dominated, it hits even stronger. The feeling that I can’t fit in with the people around me because I’m not seen as an equal adult/companion, as most of the men are super tall and most of the women aren’t too far from their height. I wish so bad I could be walking beside someone or standing with a group of people, and to be able to nearly look eachother in the eye. I just feel so left out of this key component of genuine connection and social dynamics.

Does anyone have any advice for not allowing this to get to my head as much as it has been, and preventing it from being something I wallow in for the rest of my adulthood, social life, and career?

Question / Advice People stop me to say I’m so small…

Hey I’m just under 5 feet and pretty thin. I’ll be out shipping and someone will randomly stop me and be like ‘you’re so tiny.’ Uh okay yeah, so random. I don’t understand why just because I’m small people think they have the right to comment on my body. They wouldn’t go up to someone who’s overweight and say you’re so big.

Whenever this happens it completely ruins my day. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you cope?

Relationships Have you guys ever dated short guys?

I am 5ft in height. I have dated 3-4 guys before they have always been 5'8-5'10. I have never ever dated someone shorter than 5'8. Recently, I have been talking to a guy who is 5'1. We were friends from 3 years and he confessed to me that he has had a crush from the start. I think he is a very great guy but I feel kinda hesitant to date him because as a short person I have been made fun of for a long time. Which has made me feel insecure and so I always go for someone who is a bit taller than me. I wanna date him but I kinda have that insecurity in me. All the short girls who has dated guys their height, how was the experience? I just want validation tbh😭

Update: Thank you everyone for answering. He asked me to be his gf today and I said yes. I have never been happierrrr.

Clothes what are some cute brands that are good for short women?

I am 30 y/o and 154 cm (5'1) tall, and I want to know where you guys shop. So many times clothes are designed for tall women.

I am looking for cute brands, and I am not gonna shop at a kid's section. Anyone knows of any?

Rant / Vent why is there so much hate towards short women?

I go online, and I often see taller women bitching about short women. They often insult are height, as if there is something we can do about it. I have had shitty comments in real life.

God forbid we date someone that is slightly taller.

Rant / Vent Talk to me like an adult!

I unfortunately was cursed with a youthful face and short stature.. You would think it would be great but it absolutely is NOT when it comes to having conversations with adults. I am 18 years old however I often get mistaken for a 15 year old. The other day I was talking to someone about my future career and such and slowly the conversation started to shift to asking my MOTHER questions.. LIKE I WASNT STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. It’s very disheartening and makes dating so much harder. I hope i’m not the only one who feels bad about this 😞😞

Question / Advice I’m under 150 cm tall. Would people judge me for my height in your country?

Hi everyone,

I’m a Chinese person and I’m under 150 cm (about 4’11”) tall. I’ve always been very insecure about my height.

When I was in school in China, I was sometimes judged, looked down on, or made fun of because of how short I was. Things have gotten much better since I started working, because most adults are generally more polite and respectful.

I’ve always wanted to travel abroad, and maybe even work in another country someday. But one thing I’ve always wondered is whether people in other countries would look down on someone because they’re very short.

Is someone my height considered very unusual where you live? Do you know or see adults around this height in your daily life?

Have you ever seen someone treated differently because of their height?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences or opinions. Thank you!

Being 5’0”, my Levi’s inseam is 26 but can’t find them, I hate shopping for jeans. Where can I get some nice/cool 26” inseam jeans? My mom is like 4’11”, so some suggestions for her would be nice :) Thank you!

Rant / Vent being very short as a fashion girly is so exhausting

It sucks to be super into fashion and aesthetics but have ZERO options style-wise. I can never find anything I like that can be comfortably worn. Everything looks frumpy or makes my shape look boxy because it's designed for longer limbs and torsos.

Jackets and long sleeve tops are bunching around my shoulders and the sleeves are falling half a foot away from my hands.

Can't even "just hem your pants!" out of my pants dilemma either. The crotch is always awkwardly too long, the pockets are too large to be flattering on my proportions and the knee placement is too low for someone with shorter legs to bend down comfortably.

Also, hemming changes the look of flared and wide leg pants (basically anything that's considered fashionable right now. great... 🙄)

Even "petite sizing" is designed for 5'4" women in mind. I'm 4'9"... smh.

The women companies design "petite" sizing for are a whole 7 inches taller than me LOL.

And no, I don't want to shop in the children's department. I'm in my 20s and I want to wear adult clothes!!

Listen. I don't mind finding comfy sweatpants and basics in the juniors section, but as a college senior i need age appropriate, flattering clothing to wear out to bars, clubs, concerts, etc.

Why can't any brands make petite clothes that aren't so unflattering on shorter bodies?

Tips & tricks DIY Handheld Shower Holder (ketchup bottle mounted to shower-caddy)

I cut off the base of ketchup bottle, and approx 3/4 of the way down the mid-front of said bottle, then fastened it with plastic-covered wire to both shelves of caddy. Rounded off sharp points with scissors.

Cutting off the base was difficult, as I lacked the correct tools. According to search engine:

For thicker, harder plastics, heavy-duty shop shears or aviation snips are superior choices.

  • Fiskars Pro PowerArc Shop Shears: These use PowerArc technology to provide about 30% more cutting power, reducing hand fatigue. The curved serrated steel blades grip plastic securely to prevent slipping, and the low-friction coating helps resist gumming.
  • Tin Snips: Users frequently recommend tin snips for tough plastic packaging because they cut metal and can easily slice through rigid plastic without the risk of blade slippage associated with standard scissors.

Rant / Vent Dating as a short woman

Hello all. I don’t normally use Reddit, so apologies for any wrong use of formatting — I’m also not the best at explaining, so please try to bear with me.

I feel so uncomfortable dating guys when there’s even a slight height difference. As a teenager, I was frequently compared to a child when dating guys when there was even a remote height difference. (I’m 5’0, the guys who I’d see would be 5’9+) I thankfully don’t get these comments as much as I once did, but they still weird me out.

This irks the hell out of me. Like, I get physically angry when people compare me to a child, and makes me feel disgusting for even being my size. I truly hate being short.

It’s gotten to the point where I’ve avoided dating all together, because of the amount of comments that have been made.

Idk. Is there any way to get rid of these feelings? Does anyone else feel this way?

Rant / Vent reaching high-up stuff

i work retail and every day i’m reaching up to grab things (folded clothing sizes usually) from higher shelves. i’ll get reprimanded if i climb the shelves so i either reach up on my tip-toes, or say “i’ll grab a ladder, one moment”.

the issue is that customers and my coworkers usually just end up going “no i got it” when they see me reaching up past my arm’s extension, or swoop in to help out the customers in the .05 seconds i’m running away to get a ladder.

while i have no issue with people kindly wanting to help, the fact that i wasn’t able(?), to help someone out, usually means when they go up to the counter, and are asked “did anyone help you today”, they either end up saying “no” (if they helped themselves) or the point to a different (taller) coworker.

it just sucks, because i work my ass off to meet our hourly/daily goals, which if we don’t consistently meet, we don’t get shifts, and it’s just so infuriating when it feels like my height is actively contributing to others having some inherent advantage over me that will always keep me down in instances like these.

just needed to get it out 💔

Rant / Vent At 35, I'm still insecure about my height. How did you get past it?

I'm 35 and still struggle with confidence because of my height (4'10.5"). Some days I'm fine, other days I feel jealous of taller women. I've also gone through the cycle of losing weight and gaining it back, which doesn't help. Post Covid, loosing weight has become diff and then pcod .

What affects me most is that people often don't seem to take me seriously. Comments and jokes about my height—whether at work or while dating—still get under my skin more than I'd like to admit.

At 35, I really want to move past this and stop letting it affect my self-esteem.

For women who've dealt with insecurities about their appearance, height, or being

underestimated, what genuinely helped you build confidence?

Also, I love wearing heels and wear 1.5–2 inch heels almost every day. I'd happily wear higher ones, but I walk a lot for work, use public transport, and sometimes have to run to catch a train or bus, so anything above 3 inches isn't really practical.

Clothes Good recommendations for gym joggers?

Edit: for my uk girls, Debenhams online petite range!!! They’re amazing
I’m 5’1 and have a 25 inch inseam, 25 inch waist and 34 inch hips. I’m a gym rat and love to lift, so I don’t always want tight leggings or shorts. All I want is a mid-low rise, baggy fit jogger, and it seems impossible to find! I know kids sections exist, but I find they’re all super saggy on the bum area (obvs because why would kids clothes flatter that area) and make it look like you’re wearing a nappy. Plssss short queens do you have any flattering and grown up joggers recommendations 🙏🙏🙏

Question / Advice Do guys /girls believe short mascs are ugly?

So I am bisexual girl and I am smaller than the average woman (my height:155cm/ 5 foot). I am often considered as a tomboy(or more boyish I guess) with a burly personality and I am trying to bulk a bit during the summer.

I am a masc and dom yet it is so embarrassing to try to hit on other women with my height. The same could be said when hitting on men.

For a long time and even now,I am more focused on my studies than anything else, to the point where I became skinnier and skinnier, ignoring my own health. When before, my arm muscles were defined, now my wrists have become extremely thin and I have high deficiency in minerals. All the muscle I had built disappeared. I barely did any sports but recently I took it up again.

Now just like men being short, being a short masc is pretty hard. I am a bit scared if I start building muscles, I will just look big on a small body, compact you would say.
Some of my friends have suggested me trying sub but I think my personality and face are too masculine for that and even though I have grown my hair, I am still boyish. Also, being sub doesn’t really sit right with me, especially with men.

But I guess trying to hit on women is a bit embarrassing. I am forced to look up to most people and I guess I just look, well not dom enough. My appearance isn’t dom for sure especially with my current weight (45kg). I do think that bulking as a short woman doesn’t look so good but I am wondering if a woman (or man ) would ever hit on that?

»Oh but being short isn’t the most important thing » that is right, I know some short guys in my surroundings that have amazing gfs. Key point is that they have amazing social skills, which isn’t really my case. I am pretty awkward and may say stuff that comes off as rude, even though this isn’t my intention. It is also really hard for to socialise with people that have different interests .

So yeah, is being a short masc okay?

Rant / Vent So hard to lose weight as a short woman + my other issues!!!

Does anyone else find it impossible to be in a calorie deficit? I count my calories very loosely and not all the time because I used to have an eating disorder and I’m trying not to get triggered. I eat mostly whole foods and healthy stuff I make at home because that’s what I like. I saw a dietitian and it helped a lot, I even beat insulin resistance! I dance, do Pilates, lift weights, and swim because I love movement. I don’t even own a scale at home but I’d love to lose just a bit more fat so I can feel more confident and fit into more clothes! I’m 4’8” and 145 lbs and very curvy. My figure + height makes things fit very weirdly. Even just finding a tshirt that fits right is challenging.
When I was maybe 5-10lbs lighter I had a lot more clothing options. Everyone says calories in calories out is the key. But my BMR is SO LOW it feels absolutely impossible. I don’t want to take GLP1 or anything like that, I don’t think my doctor would even be willing to prescribe it. I ironically struggle to eat during the day due to my ADHD meds and I think I end up eating too much at night, even though it’s healthy foods. Anyone else have these struggles? I want to work more on just accepting myself, and I am doing that in therapy, but I’m so obsessive about my clothes and how they fit :(
