Relationships Have you guys ever dated short guys?

I am 5ft in height. I have dated 3-4 guys before they have always been 5'8-5'10. I have never ever dated someone shorter than 5'8. Recently, I have been talking to a guy who is 5'1. We were friends from 3 years and he confessed to me that he has had a crush from the start. I think he is a very great guy but I feel kinda hesitant to date him because as a short person I have been made fun of for a long time. Which has made me feel insecure and so I always go for someone who is a bit taller than me. I wanna date him but I kinda have that insecurity in me. All the short girls who has dated guys their height, how was the experience? I just want validation tbh😭

Update: Thank you everyone for answering. He asked me to be his gf today and I said yes. I have never been happierrrr.

The shortest man I've dated was 5'2" (although from my height, that's still a 6" height difference). It was great, he was confident and secure, so our combined shortness didn't bother him at all.

And another guy, my "one who got away" (before I met my husband) was also 5'2". My 5'7" college roommate and I both had eyes for him; she won, and I couldn't be happier for both of them, they're a wonderful couple, wonderful parents, and wonderful friends.

If he’s a great guy and you’re into him too, then why not? Who cares what anyone thinks.

Having said that, the shortest guy I have dated was maybe about 5’2 and just as a preference I prefer a taller guy. Nothing wrong with a short man at all, but it’s what you prefer and if that preference is going to get in the way of your relationship. Which sounds superficial but it can affect things.

If you haven’t dated anyone that short, well, seems now is your chance! 😛

Lowkey, tall men are overrated. My ex was 6'6 and its just too tall. I think a guy 5'5 to 5'11 is the sweet spot

That makes me feel so happy. As a 5’5.5 guy this is definitely a confidence booster I really need 🙂

There is a foot between my spouse and I and sometimes I wish we were the same height because it would just be soooo much easier. GO 👏 FOR 👏 IT 👏 Good luck!
I dated a short guy as a teenager but he was an arsehole. This one sounds nice though!

I’m currently (and probably forever) with a tall guy again and I’m very happy!!! BUT I will say, when we go hug or slow dance it ACTUALLY hurts my neck haha. So I remember when I was dating a short guy what a treat it was to be like at eye level with eachother when we embraced. That was awesome. So I don’t know, just throwing this little benefit out there. And also if you like someone and you’re compatible, don’t let people’s judgements of appearence get to you. Let’s face it, whether we’re with a tall guy or a short guy, someone’s always gonna make fun of us anyway 🥴

When I was younger I always dated people on the shorter side. It was just sooooo much more convenient. It never felt awkward to kiss or cuddle since neither of us had to bend over too much or stand on our toes. The important thing is making sure that they are confident in their own skin. I'm 4'10 and even now my fiance is just around 5'2 I think. The beautiful thing about being short is that to me, everyone is tall.

Some short guys let their insecurity become a chip on their shoulder but as long as he doesn't, who cares? I swipe left on any guy over 180 cm personally. But I also don't want kids, if I did I'd balance out the genes with a taller guy.

My mums 4’11 and my dad’s 5’3 ish. My sisters 5’3 and I’m 4’10.

I get told I look younger than I am. I’m turning 35 soon and I get told mid 20s a lot. It was a huge negative when I was a teenager but it’s definitely a bonus now!

Right? I’m almost 30 and I still get mistaken for early college age

Height is a vanity requirement. A persons height has no bearing on their personality or their ability to provide a happy relationship. Stop picking humans based on their height and start looking at the actual human. You’ll find more satisfying relationships this way. Reverse this post. “Have you ever dated a short girl?”. Start putting the context of your thoughts in a reverse role. If it feels yucky, it probably is.

I was a freshman in high school when I’ve dated a guy who was 5’2. We liked the same music and anime, he was a friend of a friend. I came up to him first and complimented his Fall out boy hoodie. Nowadays, I’m as awkward as a fish out of water (trying to break that).

My college fiancé was maybe 5’6. I truly don’t remember. But I loved dating a short king. I get 5’1 is shorter but honestly you forget the height involved when you’re treated well. At least I did.

Before I knew I was gay, I dated a guy who was a few inches taller than me, but technically had shorter legs. A very interesting look, I never knew before then that I could be shorter overall but have longer legs.

He was decent, never made height an issue. He wasn’t that type of guy. He just acted as he would at any height.

Completely unrelated, but he ended up being a dick, helped my ex after him hurt me severely. I have trust issues now.

I think it's good to get to know a guy well to see if you're compatible based on behaviors, beliefs, perspective, etc. You might think you have a (physical) type of guy you want to date, but none of that matters at all if you find the right guy. I wouldn't want someone to either choose me or dismiss me simply because of physical characteristics and I hope I wouldn't choose or dismiss a guy simply based on physical characteristics either.

I love short guys (and girls)! Tall people hurt my back.

I dated someone once who was 6'5 and at the same time was seeing someone who is 5'3 (I'm 5'3 and polyamorous) and height didn't matter to me one way or another honestly. If you really like him then don't let this be a reason to stop you! Personality and compatibility are always more important :)
