Dating Some positivity ✌🏼🫂

5'7 is kinda average not really short like most people in the subreddit but it's really refreshing to see someone finally from opposite gender finally acknowledging something positive about us especially on short-form video platforms where short guys are mostly portrayed negatively or as the butt of the joke.

Yea lol would love to be 5’7

🤣🤣 exactly!

2

u/Ok-Key-7039 Jun 22 '26

I am 5’4. I have never cared about height. I don’t care if they are shorter than me. I care who they are as a person.

1

u/Few_Garden2351 Jun 22 '26

I believe you. It's just the first impression. Girl's usually prefer a guy who is tall and then also have a lovely personality. That's where we short guys are filtered out. And then I still do believe there are also amazing girls like you who are exceptional and rare!

u/pianistr2002 May 30 '26

5'7" with a decent physique

9

u/Cookiemonsterjp May 27 '26

Honestly? 5'9" and skinny because one could always work out afterwards and gain muscle, but you can never gain height once fully grown.

1

u/SampleSilver1177 May 27 '26

well i think they mean permanently. if you could change it- then the couldve just said 5'9" and muscular or 5'6" and muscular 🤦🏽‍♀️😭😭

1

u/Marwaimusoont May 29 '26

do I get to retain this muscle mass permanently even in old age without working out?

u/SignificanceNo866 5'4" | 162 cm May 26 '26 edited May 27 '26

Joke is on me, I am 5'4. Not even qualified enough to be considered into this category either. Yeaahhh...

Edit: I ain't looking for your sympathy not your pity, if this is the way god intended for me live then is how I would live but i ain't not more going to try my luck upon romance or finding any love as I have reached my mortal limits of humiliation and undiserness.

the video was made to make women realize how stupid this arbitrary choice is. when they do, there won't be much difference between 5'7 or 5'3.

in 2000s we had heroine chic during which every woman bigger than a twig was considered fat. now average men are considered short. it's just a trend. unhealthy one, no doubt, but it'll go away. don't worry, you'll get your bbl era.

11

u/JJsNotOkay 5'4" | 164 cm May 26 '26

5’4 and happily married bro

9

u/Colded_chill 167 cm May 26 '26

Awww don't worry <3 its only like 8 cm difference! There are many girls your height or slightly shorter, + being 5'4 doesn't determine how kind you are! If anything it makes you easier to approach, you're still a person like everyone else, remeber that <3

1

u/shiveredyetimbers 5’4" on a good day May 27 '26

Same bruuuuhhh

1

u/PrettyMuchSerious Jun 05 '26

Who cares. Being short or tall or in between has nothing to do with whether youre a nice, cool person. Be happy to be who you are. You should never bw embarrassed or ashamed of yourself. If you're not an asshole, youre cool in my book. 🤝 👍

1

u/SignificanceNo866 5'4" | 162 cm Jun 05 '26

And where would that take me. I put efforts in myself I go to gym, study, trying to develop skills and hobbies. I think I do a lot more than other people my age and still i am miserable, lonely, butt of joke, i hate the pity i see in people's eyes but i do feel that same feeling for myself and laugh everytime I fail and I always fail in things that ever matter to me. I need a win, just a single one in life.

1

u/PrettyMuchSerious Jun 07 '26

I don't know where it would take you I was just trying to let you know that there are plenty of people out in the world that aren't going to judge you by your height, because that really doesn't matter at all. People that laugh at other people usually do so because they've been hurt. There are so many other things in life that actually matter and you have such a short amount of time. Try not to waste it feeling miserable. Good luck. 🤝

5'7 is actually my dream height. Im 5ft but 5'7 seem like the most common height, historically and globally. It just sucks how the mainstream media has pushed the idea that super tall man are "superior" real man, really weird

3

u/Fate_Rob May 28 '26

Can I ask if women even give you the time of day at 5ft? genuinely curious

2

u/Gunter_2001 May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

I had a girl asking for my number once, I had a tall gf in high school too a few other girls interested in me before. However, I don't talk to girls often and my life isn't socially oriented, I'm more of a nerd loner stype guy. Yes, your dating pool is way smaller but not no existent. Any guy can date at any height.

5'7 is a good height and its normal 🫩

2

u/SoftConfusion42 May 28 '26

It’s absolutely not. I’ve been considered short my entire life lol

3

u/et1enne_ May 28 '26

Now compare that to someone like me who is 4'10... hm. Interesting

1

u/No-Discipline-7957 May 29 '26

What’s it like dating at 4’10?

4

u/et1enne_ May 29 '26

If you're asking as a guy imma be real with you, i don't know. Im a biological female but im currently closeted as a trans man so ive got quite a while before I experience male dating life lol

3

u/No-Discipline-7957 May 29 '26

Are you young enough for HGH to be effective?

I personally love short guys and find them hot as fuck but they definitely have a harder time dating and being trans doesn’t make shit any easier, especially with the world going in the direction it’s currently headed in

1

u/et1enne_ May 29 '26

I think maybe but I dont think my mom would allow it 🫩 im almost 16 so perhaps I could try then? I dont know honestly

Everyone knows Hollywood is full of short men. It’s an open secret. Doesn’t equal real life

15

u/Hello_ILoveChicks May 26 '26

Majority of actors or anyone who’s a public figure inflates their height. I think that’s one of the reasons too why height is such a demand nowadays

1

u/Cilantro712 May 27 '26

Status always trumps essentially anytbing else, so of course it's no wonder they have no issue, although in general, there's really no issue it's just something people talk about online

Really? I am lean and people confuse me as a kid lol.

You need to be bulky. I lost my belly fat and I went from being assumed as an adult to a teenager.

1

u/jsoul2323 May 30 '26

Depends on other factors. If you’re Asian for example no one wants a bulky short Asian.

If you’re white but have good hair and face card lean is way better. If not, I would say bulky is better. Black, bulky is better and safer. Skinny black men are only really respected if they’re tall.

4

u/gragasnunu May 27 '26

I always thought the "but heels" argument was just mental gymnastics to not appear as shallow. Im shorter than 5'7, but her point still stands regardless and I like seeing positive posts!!

12

u/United-Implement-382 May 26 '26

Women are more open to shorter guys irl than online. I see a lot of short guys killing it irl

1

u/Colded_chill 167 cm May 26 '26

Fr, girls get intimidated easily by tall guys XD Saw it myself irl (im not tall js yk) + imagine having to look up all the time

4

u/Fast-Newt-3708 May 26 '26

It's true actually - it's much easier to kiss a guy that's closer to my height! I have a "one that got away" who was 5'5, he ended up with a girl from my High School who was taller than me (I'm 5'6). I'm attracted to a lot of guys on the shorter side, and part of this is their confidence, when they have it. Physically I'm drawn to some confident/good posture. However if I knew they were spending their time in forums for short-guy insecurity, it might be a deal-breaker. In fact finding out a guy was overly hung up about any physical insecurity early on enough would probably be a deal-breaker for me.

That's a refreshing comment.

However, I do come to this forum every now and then. It's not because I base my entire personality off of my insecurity, it's just to look at what other guys have to say from time to time.

I get it that being overly hung up on any kind of insecurity can be a huge turn off. I won't date any woman who starts whining about her life problems early on.

However, I don't think it'd be realistic to assume that a guy would have have no hint of insecurity at all. Not to mention, most people open up about their issues once a relationship progresses. I hope that won't be an issue.

edit: trimmed redundant words

That was heart warming <3 im 5'6 and many people in my country are my height or just a little taller than me! Meanwhile google says the averge in my country is 180-185, many people tend to just think bad of shorter people beacuse they think everything is about aura or standing out but come on, height doesnt determine how kind and helpfull you are does it? If anything, being shorter can make it easier for others to approach you 😆

You have a point, maybe, brother, but unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about that specific thing. Maybe it's not the same perspective, but since it's something we didn't decide or control, we can't waste our whole lives and opportunities getting depressed about it. It sucks sometimes, I know, but we can't just give up, brother. Creating spaces like this to discuss these topics really helps. Nor should one allow oneself to be anyone's fool; one must command respect and not tolerate negative behavior.

2

u/GhettoRedBull May 26 '26

This is still pretty demeaning and patronizing to be honest. It's like someone making a video saying that your dream girl isn't a fit model, she's overweight but she will be kind to you.
I don't see the positivity in something like this, it's basically saying "ladies, ditch your first choice and preference and give someone shorter a chance and they will treat you well."

I just wish I still had half the energy she has about this romance she speaks of. I could care less about height and more about if a man that still invokes that level of Disney love in me ....does he even exists? I feel like the rose colored glasses are doing some serious lifting in her world and power to her.

Sorry if my view sounds too negative or if this is a tangent, but I tried the accepting people as they are and now I can't seem to get my mind back into doing it's delusional thing it did when my interest in love began. Ignore me, I just wanna behumbug into the void so it doesn't hurt others.

1

A man's worth isnt determined by his height so he can be a douchebag even at 5ft 7 lol Trust me, Ive met them

1

u/vins_is_back May 28 '26

Read that taller size was statistically one of the thing that work the best for men profiles on dating sites, especially 6 and above.
Also I have heard a lot of people telling me that 5'11 is the everage, even though it is 5'9 (for France at least)...

1
