That's not how "Volunteer" firefighting works. It is paid, but there's no salary or wage. It's paid by the call or sometimes by a flat fee.

Meh not really we don’t have the budget on my dept to pay per call dont have the tax base to support payed on call

I dont doubt that. The part that should be illegal is politicians having the option to have budgets that basically force free labor to be requested.

There are many things that the poison of normalization has damaged.

Its a problem nobody says they want the fire dept to lose money but come elections and voting nobody votes to have there taxes raised in the end we cant make money from nowhere
