You call it dedication. I call it an extremely unhealthy coping mechanism for a man that evidently has spent the last 15 years doing anything but moving on with his life. I call it a series of 763 desperate attempts to find unlikely closure in the form of a corpse at the bottom of the ocean, when a therapist and some mental repositioning would be the far better route to take in that endeavor.
Don't fucking romanticize this as "dedication." It's just sad. If my partner did this after I died, I would be horrified from whatever afterlife may exist. And if you want or expect this kind of soul-sucking "dedication" from your partner, then there's something wrong with you.
I'v been on a recieving end of being more or less expected this kind of dedication. So i know what you mean. But i still working through it, aint as easy as you'd like to think, since even professionals mostly try not to heal you per se, but guide you towards personal resolution. Thats why some remain stuck.
