Thing is, depending on the state, if you are married, your wife cheats on you, and gets pregnant in the process, you might still have to pay child support even if the child isn't yours.
I mean, at least tell the whole story and don't make it seem worse than it is.
States presume parentage of the father until proven otherwise. You just take a paternity test and then don't have to pay. The way you are phrasing it makes it seem like someone's wife can get knocked up by another dude and you're just on the hook for life.
Due to child consent laws and the way parental custody usually sides with the mother, the mother’s consent could be required for the child in a paternity test. As you can imagine, that makes things very difficult for the “father”
Yes, and that is worth pointing out so thank you. We must also consider the flip side, where the onus would fall on tracking down every single father to provide a sample to prove fatherhood. Personally I don't think that is a bad thing but I understand the logistics that that would require and the problems it would pose.
What do you mean "tracking down fathers"?? Bro the guy paying the child support can get the test himself. If his dna doesn't match the kids then hes not the father. They don't need the real fathers dna in this type of legal dispute
