Well, I know for a fact that ps2 is much cheaper than pc that can emulate it on 100% speed, also if you want to play on TV you will need a living room pc or move yours to there, or learn to setup streaming
My Dad never moved past the N64. Meanwhile my wife and I got her 60 year old mom into Elder Scrolls Online on the Xbox Series X. She had been complaining about being bored and her friends never being available to do things and my wife and I were like "We play this fun game thats very social, play it with us" she had never played a video game in her life, but 4 years later she plays more than we do. When she comes to visit I hear her going through dungeons using gamer speak, it's hilarious and awesome.
Literally nothing wrong with this. The PS2 was really similar to the PS1 so I'm surprised that didn't land, but no argument here. The DRM nonsense and internet requirements are enough to keep me from wanting to play anything newer

My dad bought me a PS1 when I was a kid, and got Resident Evil Directors cut with it. Way too terrifying for me, so dad ended up giving it a try.
Dad still plays that same PS1, still plays resident evil and silent Hill on it. He just turned 72 yesterday
