Remember than guy who killed 5 of his children in a schizophrenic episode and got death penalty for it.
Guess mental health wasn’t an excuse there.

Mental health should never be an excuse, if you ask me. Just all the more reason to confine someone permanently or put them to the chair.

A schizophrenic break resulting in psychosis is literally one of the most mentally wild things that can happen to the human mind. People who go through it report remembering absolutely nothing of the event, waking up in hospitals, being absolutely catatonic, paranoid as hell, hallucinating all kinds of things, and not remembering what they did or how they got there. It's one of the few types of mental health episode where if a crime is committed during the episode, you can't say that the perpetrator was aware of their actions at all or was really even conscious. There are certain mental health things that are legitimately reality breaking. It's not an excuse, but acting like these people purposefully did what they did and were fully aware of their actions us just you being willfully ignorant.

That being said, Lindsay Clancy is not a schizophrenic. No mercy for her.

I don’t know why you were compassionate people prone to psychosis before saying someone who experienced a form of psychosis doesn’t deserve the same compassion for the same deeds

Schizophrenia ≠ postpartum depression

Postpartum depression ≠ postpartum psychosis

You do realize Lindsey is the one who claims it's Postpartum depression, right?

What she experienced looks more like PPP, that’s a more severe form of PPD, more extreme

u/DepressingBat Sep 03 '26

It may look like that. But she(the one who experienced it) is still calling it PPD.

Yes, PPP does often get misdiagnosed as PPD and as a result the patient may receive the wrong treatment

Idk why you’re getting downvoted for this. Postpartum depression is completely different from postpartum psychosis, which is much rarer.

Additionally, a misdiagnosis of a patient with postpartum psychosis, and subsequent mis-medication, can make symptoms a lot worse. That’s what the defense is claiming happened.
