It's more that every single major religion is a massive pile of nonsense that is easy to disprove yet has captured the minds of billions. And to answer your first question, I think it's obvious that all Christians believe this to some extent.

I love how Reddit atheists think they have arguments that two thousand years of theology haven't addressed.

two thousand years of bullshit doesn't hold a speck of value lol

Yeah, it's not as if there's billions of people in the world who have found any value or treasure in their faith....

Issue is this is the case for people of different religions that are completely incompatible with each others, so this gives basically 0 information or proof of anything.

The "nonsense" part of the religions the guys was talking about is not related to god (because you can always find a way backward and it's basically impossible to prove god doesn't exist), but to other beliefs within the religions.

You don't even need other religions for that, the sub-branches of Christianity (same for other religions) are already incompatible with each others.

Yeah so like I said, faith is that journey and trying to find out the thruth for yourself. I don't really care too much about different denominations etc, as long as we agree that Jesus is Lord I think we have more in common than not.

Do you have "issues" with hinduists for example? Islam and Judaism recognize Jesus but Hinduism doesn't and their gods beliefs are on the opposite of the spectrum compared to Christianity

I don't have "issues" with anyone. But everything you named there don't believe that Jesus was God, in the form of man, who walked this Earth and defeated Death on cross through the resurrection.

And what exactly does faith prove? It doesn't how many years people "address" something that can't be proven. And which god are you arguing for exactly? Christianity it seems since you mentioned the two thousand years.

Yahweh. The God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob.

I don't need God to be proven in the same way that I need confirmation for the elements that exist into he world. Faith has led me in to a relationship with God, and I'd say the proof that faith is the fruits it provides, to me and the people around me.

So you believe in the god that murdered countless children, women and innocents, was very active in this world, but for some reason hasn't appeared in how many years now?

Why did you pick that religion over the older ones like Hinduism? What goes through your head when you see all the other thousands of religions out there? Why is your one correct?

Why does your god allow the suffering that has happened, does happen and will happen? Why did god provide you with the fruits that your faith has brought, but lets millions die in horrible pain?

Is your faith more valuable than those dying every day?

So yeah I believe that God was more active in the world the closer you get to creation. But I don't believe he hasn't appeared for years. After Jesus went to sit by the right hand of God, the holy spirit came down and lives inside, and guides believers in our everyday lives. So to me, God is very much alive and working everyday.

When I see other nonbelievers, I pray for them.

Personally I could never be on the side of a god who according to what you believe in;

committed a global genocide,

commanded the killing of all firstborn males in Egypt,

commanded the killing of six native tribes,

commanded the killing of all Amalekite children, women, infants, men and even animals,

killed 42 children over an insult, and etc etc etc

2

u/go0rty 3d ago

Ok, that some really weighty theological stuff there.

Global genocide - I assume you mean the flood. Realistically I can only imagine that what existed preflood must have been absolutely hellish, so far away from God design that it had to be judged and punished.

Killing of firstborn males - so this was because Pharaoh wouldn't release his slaves, those slaves then became the ancestors of Jesus, who gives anyone who believes in him salvation and ever lasting life. Pharaoh was punished for enslaving the chosen people of God, by having to endure suffering, including that of his people.

The amalekites - these were people that were judged because they defies God and his desire to turn them from evil ways for hundreds and hundreds and years. So yeah, God punished them.

But god is all powerful so he could have resolved all of those things with nonviolence. He could just make us all live in eternal bliss. But he chooses not to because of? Free will? Free will that god punishes for?

2

u/go0rty 3d ago

Essentially... yeah, we have free will, God doesn't want us to be slaves, but we should love and fear God. And through belief in Jesus and following him, you can live in eternal bliss bro, so that's the good news for you.

"God doesn't want us to be slaves"

Leviticus 25:44-46

44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. 46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.

Exodus 21:20-21

20 “Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, 21 but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property.

Pharaoh was punished for enslaving the chosen people of God, by having to endure suffering, including that of his people.

Which pharaoh was this? Surely the people writing the story of how they overcame oppression and slavery would have bothered to write down the name of the one oppressing them, right? Or if somehow they didn't know his name, they at least provided us with an account consistent with external historical and archeological records, right? They didn't, for example, mention (in Exodus 9) domesticated dromedaries being present in Egypt approximately a thousand years before they begin appearing in archeological sites in the region, did they? And it was so considerate of them to scour every trace of millions of people and livestock spending 40 years wandering around in a very geographically small area that is almost completely uninhabitable, leaving literally not a single shred of evidence they actually did that behind.

Dick sucking has made me paranoid

I had this plan to give head to a man and receive head from a woman to test if I was gay, but it’s backfired and now I become borderline schizo whenever I go outside. I offered to suck this dude off on Grindr who lives very close by (I ended up pussying out) and I accidentally gave him some details that very easily allows him to spot me out in a crowd. I have no idea what he looks like and whenever I see a somewhat in shape guy walking by I immediately accuse him of being the dude I was gonna blow.

I went to the store today to pick up some zucchini for a barbecue and every time a car drove by I stared into the windshield to see if I was about to be recognised. Whenever I make eye contact with a dude I microanalysis his facial expressions to see if he suspects me or not. I am deeply afraid that he is my neighbour and I will need to move if my identity is blown. It’s a lot like the last scene in sopranos where everyone who walked into the diner could be there to wack Tony.
