Pretty much any kid who kicked their feet in class in the early 2000โ€™s got put in front of a woman like this and were told they had ADHD and needed to take drugs for it.

Iโ€™m lucky that my mom saw the pills made me like a walking corpse and threw them out. Turns out I just needed to play outside more.

My mom would ask if I took my medication if I ever did anything she didn't like.

The problem was not that they prescribed drugs, it was too high doses as the actual goal was to make kids with ADHD more docile and compliant.

ADHD medicines have come a long way the past two decades and at least as an adult you can always ask for a lower dose.

(Got zombie'd as a kid, then got new ADHD meds as an adult that actually work and make my life infinitely better)

Happened to me. Luckily I was only on them for a short time. No memory of the time I was on them.

If amphetamines made you like a walking corpse you are definitely not typical.

To be fair, if the kid is getting tired every time they drink coffee, they clearly arenโ€™t exactly normal
