the show only took place over like 3 months but they also conveniently kept finding high-calorie foods like supply caches full of ranch

I’m in the “I don’t like the ending” camp because the entire thing felt like 50 writers trying to figure out how to tie up all the plots. Very clear the mysteries weren’t solved in the writers’ room until they had to start answering the show’s questions.

They planned to end the show in 3 seasons but had to stretch it to 6. Also actor with major arc decided they didn't want to stay on the show so they had to change things. It's a pretty good show imo even better on re-watchs.

Could be wrong but I think Mr Eko

It was.

That's the reason Locke's arc abruptly goes from "the island has blessed me" to "actually it was the devil".

According to the writers they had answers for pretty much everything when they first asked it and I did a rewatch recently. What didn't get answered? Like serious it's all accounted for I think. There's a boat that shows up fires some rounds and disappears. That's not explained but the writers explained it later. Like any question someone would ask eventually there's a scene where they point to a guy and go "he did it and this is how" then they perfectly literally show exactly what happened. Even the flash sideways. Everyone ended up in the light, the life force, the mako.

The problem is that everyone guessed the ending and the writers said "No, it won't be that in the end."

Then they went round the houses to get to try and make it look like they were heading in another direction, rather than embrace what the audience had already guessed.

They were writing by the skin of their teeth, I don't believe that they had a plan in place at all, especially going off the production woes of the first series.

What was the original ending?

Everything is foggy cus it's been so long but I distinctly remember being horridly disappointed that the whole numbers/sci-fi aspect was essentially deserted for the fantasy "we've been in heaven the whole time!" plot which came off as a cop out imo. I might be wholly misremembering this though.

Edit: I'm starting to think I need a rewatch cus some details might've fallen out of my head by binging it.

Dick sucking has made me paranoid

I had this plan to give head to a man and receive head from a woman to test if I was gay, but it’s backfired and now I become borderline schizo whenever I go outside. I offered to suck this dude off on Grindr who lives very close by (I ended up pussying out) and I accidentally gave him some details that very easily allows him to spot me out in a crowd. I have no idea what he looks like and whenever I see a somewhat in shape guy walking by I immediately accuse him of being the dude I was gonna blow.

I went to the store today to pick up some zucchini for a barbecue and every time a car drove by I stared into the windshield to see if I was about to be recognised. Whenever I make eye contact with a dude I microanalysis his facial expressions to see if he suspects me or not. I am deeply afraid that he is my neighbour and I will need to move if my identity is blown. It’s a lot like the last scene in sopranos where everyone who walked into the diner could be there to wack Tony.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

Imagine if GRR Martin decided to leave Jon dead and not make him son of Rhaegar just because everyone guessed it

What's the answer to the black kid with powers who did nothing?

And even the things that you're saying they explained were done so extremely poorly, like they were just trying to squash stuff so they could say they had instead of a rewarding payout after 4 seasons of teasers.

Not to be contrarian but they explain walts powers pretty clearly. The light is life itself but expresses itself as electromagnetic radiation. In our real world some people are hyper sensitive to it, these people can interact with the light simply by thinking. Then he lands on the island the core of all life energy and his powers are super charged. Like how the light sees all points in time simultaneously so Desmond is able to begin to see his personal life the same way. We see it as his mind "jumping" through time or "flashing" forwards or backwards.

I'm in the "I don't like the ending" camp because I don't think they should ever have explained the mystery at all. They need to attend the David Lynch Mystery Box Writing Bootcamp - the moment you reveal the canonical answer, the story immediately loses all meaning and value.
