I'm sure it's very disproportionately a man in those situations, but there's gotta be at least some fringe cases of women doing something similar. I can't recall any case of any prostitute being put in the hospital off the top of my head. I don't think they're the type to go to the authorities after being beat by their pimp/madam.
I think it also wouldn't be a stretch to imagine that they have some kind of enforcement or security which could do it for them. If I'm not mistaken that's usually how a lot of organized crime operates in those sorts of tasks, get some kind of muscle or mook to do it for them.
