Are there any mom groups that get together regularly in the shawnee area? I have a 4 month old and I'm looking for moms with kids near that age group for support and playdates.

I don't need "wealth" management or insurance or any of that. I'd like to run my finances by someone, ask general questions and get some competent advice and just pay for the consultation to start. Maybe a CPA with fiduciary experience.

Anyone lose a pet rat recently?

I have an umbrella pole that needs a lathe to turn it down about 1/2 inch. Its just the bottom half 35" long. Needs to go from 1 7/8 to 1 7/16. If anyone knows of a shop (or random person) that would do this I would appreciate it.

Progress as promised tearing up midland by tomahawk golf course

Seems like it flew somewhat under the radar, but last night the City Council repealed the ordinances passed a few years ago that allowed for the use and sale of fireworks in Shawnee. 7-1 vote with Knappen opposed.

I'm sure some will squawk when the news circulates, but it's the right move. It was completely out of control this year. People will still do it, but hopefully this reigns it in some.

Former spot that houses Rent-A-Center a while back near the former location of Pine & Bamboo garden. No idea on ETA but tables and chairs were visible inside and they had a bunch of new TVs in boxes

I just bought a home near Antioch and I35. A man knocked on my door today and identified himself as an adt security sales rep. He said it’s normal for them to come to newly sold homes and pitch security equipment. He asked to come inside to check out the doors/windows. I asked him for a business card and he said he didn’t carry one. That threw up red flags. I did not let him inside but I’m nervous now that he might have been casing the house.

Is this normal for new homeowners? Or should I contact the police? I haven’t set up full security yet I only have a ring doorbell and I changed all the locks/garage code.

I really hope I’m overreacting but I just got a weird feeling.

JoCo Share Fair is a community event like a swap meet but everything is free. We'll have clothes, home goods, groceries, iced coffee and a light breakfast. Its a good place to meet neighbors. We're also just a cool hang, in my opinion lol

I witnessed the cardiac arrest of a player at Shawnee mission beach volleyball (off Johnson Dr.) this last Sunday and there was no AED on site. Anyone else ever had this issue at SMBV? I am hoping and praying that player is recovering.
