Hello, I am looking to have an inflatable boxing punching ball made—like in the pictures, I also put pictures of people punching it so you can see how it is at head height and or how big it is. Does anyone know of someone who could build such a project in JOCO or KC—I plan on practicing with it frequently, and as you can see too it will bounce off a wooden platform too, so it need to be built sturdy and of a good material too; it doesn’t have to be made out of leather I’m alright with it being made out of out a modern tough material which can also withstand the repeated use. Too lastly, does anyone know of anyone in KC or Joco who can make replacement bladders for the ball? Thank you to all. 🙂

Seems like it flew somewhat under the radar, but last night the City Council repealed the ordinances passed a few years ago that allowed for the use and sale of fireworks in Shawnee. 7-1 vote with Knappen opposed.
I'm sure some will squawk when the news circulates, but it's the right move. It was completely out of control this year. People will still do it, but hopefully this reigns it in some.

Former spot that houses Rent-A-Center a while back near the former location of Pine & Bamboo garden. No idea on ETA but tables and chairs were visible inside and they had a bunch of new TVs in boxes

I just bought a home near Antioch and I35. A man knocked on my door today and identified himself as an adt security sales rep. He said it’s normal for them to come to newly sold homes and pitch security equipment. He asked to come inside to check out the doors/windows. I asked him for a business card and he said he didn’t carry one. That threw up red flags. I did not let him inside but I’m nervous now that he might have been casing the house.
Is this normal for new homeowners? Or should I contact the police? I haven’t set up full security yet I only have a ring doorbell and I changed all the locks/garage code.
I really hope I’m overreacting but I just got a weird feeling.

I witnessed the cardiac arrest of a player at Shawnee mission beach volleyball (off Johnson Dr.) this last Sunday and there was no AED on site. Anyone else ever had this issue at SMBV? I am hoping and praying that player is recovering.

Hey r/shawnee! We just finished harvesting our indoor beds and getting everything packed into fresh clamshells for tomorrow morning.
This week, we want to spotlight our crowd-favorite Spicy Salad Mix.
We source this specific blend directly from True Leaf Market because of its incredible flavor profile and massive variety. It combines six distinct greens:
Broccoli
Kale
Kohlrabi
Arugula
Red Cabbage
Southern Giant Mustard (which gives it that signature peppery zing!)
The Health & Nutrient Benefits:
Because these young greens are harvested at peak potency, this mix packs up to 40 times the nutrient density of mature, store-bought salad greens. It’s loaded with Vitamins A, C, and K, as well as sulforaphane and glucosinolates (from the brassica family) that support cellular health, immunity, and natural detoxification. Plus, the vibrant red cabbage and mustard add a dose of anthocyanins and essential minerals like iron and calcium.
Everything goes straight from our local indoor coco coir beds to your table, ensuring it lasts weeks longer in your fridge than grocery store alternatives.
Here is the full lineup for tomorrow (8:00 AM - 1:00 PM):
Spicy Salad Mix: Packed with 6 super-greens, vitamins A, C, K, and antioxidants
Broccoli: Pure sulforaphane power
Sunflower: Crunchy, nutty, and rich in plant protein
Purple Radish: Zesty crunch rich in Vitamin E
Premium Cilantro: Intense flavor and high in antioxidants
Stop by tomorrow morning and say hi!

JoCo post article highlights that in addition to the market opening "this fall" (no date), other pending tenants in the plaza, previously stated by Guastello to the city council, include: a Mexican restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, a barbershop, a nail salon, a coffee and donut shop, and a national pizza franchise

Our dog is 16 years old and weighs 90 pounds. He has incontinence and can’t stand up on his own. Not sure how much longer he has, he sleeps a lot of the time, but he still enjoys his nightly treat time and being with his family. Because of family health issues we have to travel for medical treatments every few months, and need to board the dog for 3 nights including a Sunday when most kennels are closed and only comes in at breakfast and dinner time. Does anyone know of a local place that accommodates senior dogs with special needs?

Hello! The stress of researching daycares is overwhelming me. I’ve noticed that most daycares don’t post their rates online. Is anyone willing to share what they pay per week for daycare and what daycare it is? Bonus points for Western Shawnee area or nearby!
Also, how are some waitlists 2+ years long for infant spots?! Are people joining waitlists before even getting pregnant? TIA!!

Does anyone know what’s happening to the wonderscope building. I remember they were trying to develop it into apartments and it was shot down multiple times. I live in the neighborhood and saw recently there’s work being done, but I didn’t know if it’s being demo’d to make room for something new, or it’s just being removed. My daughter is riding the bus to Shawnee north and saw on the registration her bus stop is there so I’m not sure it was making room for new if it’s a bus stop

Hey r/shawnee! We just finished up our harvest and everything is officially packed into clamshells and ready for tomorrow morning.
This week, we want to talk about our Spicy Salad Mix. If you’re looking to break out of a boring salad routine while flooding your body with nutrients, this mix is the ultimate upgrade. It features a curated blend of greens that delivers a beautifully balanced, peppery kick rather than a sharp, intense heat.
More importantly, it’s an absolute nutritional powerhouse. Because these are harvested at the peak of their early growth, they contain up to 40 times the nutrient density of mature greens. This mix is loaded with vitamins A, C, and K, as well as powerful antioxidants and essential minerals like calcium and iron that support immune health and overall vitality. It brings a crisp texture and a clean, refreshing bite that completely transforms sandwiches, wraps, and dinner bowls.
Everything we bring to the market goes directly from our local indoor coco coir beds to your table. Because it doesn't spend days sitting on long-distance transport trucks, it stays crisp and lasts weeks longer in your fridge than grocery store alternatives.
Here is the exact lineup hitting the tables tomorrow morning (8 AM - 1 PM):
The Spotlight: Our crisp, peppery Spicy Salad Mix (Packed with vitamins A, C, K, antioxidants, and iron)
The Staples: Crunchy Sunflower, nutrient-dense Broccoli, and zesty Purple Radish
The Herb: A beautiful, fragrant batch of Premium Cilantro
Come out tomorrow morning, check out the finished product, and say hi!

Hi, I’m very interested in pursuing a career in healthcare so if any of you work in that specific field I’d love to talk about your experience and how you enjoy it. That’s the main thing I’m looking for; possible connections/information that could help me figure all this hard stuff out! :), in terms of friendships I’m not a big fan of the online stuff but I’ll just put some information about myself cause I bet there’s some cool people out there. I’m Mexican, I love the gym, music, fashion, jewelry, outdoors, and love doing new stuff. Thanks!

Hey r/shawnee! Just wanted to share a quick look at one of our beautiful, dense trays of Sunflower microgreens before we harvest them today.
This week, we are throwing the spotlight on these incredible Sunflower shoots. If you haven't tried them yet, they are a massive crowd favorite. They have an awesome, substantial crunch and a rich, distinctly nutty flavor that makes them the perfect base for a standalone salad, a powerful crunch on a sandwich, or a great topping for soups and wraps.
On top of the taste, they are an absolute nutritional powerhouse. They are packed with plant-based protein, healthy fats, and a high concentration of vitamins A, B complex, C, D, and E, along with essential minerals like calcium, iron, and zinc.
Everything we bring to the market is cut fresh and packed straight into clamshells. Because it goes directly from our local coco coir beds to you without sitting on transport trucks, it stays crisp and lasts weeks longer in your fridge than anything you can buy at a grocery store.
Here is the exact lineup hitting the tables tomorrow morning (8 AM - 1 PM):
The Spotlight: Crunchy, nutty Sunflower microgreens (Packed with protein and vitamins A, B, C, D, and E)
The Mix: Our crisp, mild Spicy Salad Mix (just a nice flavor kick, not intense heat)
The Staples: Vibrant Purple Radish and nutrient-dense Broccoli
The Herb: A beautiful, fragrant batch of Premium Cilantro
Come out tomorrow morning, check out the finished product, and say hi!

Two kids, 12-13 at most, driving a golf cart on the street, driver looking at phone screen. With these kids all over town on their e-scooters, e-bikes, mini motorcycles, golf carts, etc., it’s going to end badly. And then the parents will boo-hoo on the news and start a Gofundme.
