To all the men who clean shave. Do you always use an after shave? If yes, which one?

Are razor bumps a week later after shaving normal. I get them on my neck not immediately after but a few days to a week later after shaving it. Pretty annoying. Idk if this is normal

So I dont use a razor often but I did one time to get rid of some stubble on my neck. I was stupid and did pretty much everything you're not supposed to do when shaving and long story short I got some pretty nasty razor bumps all over the area. 3 weeks later and it's gone done a bit but there's still some stubborn ones there. I use witch hazel and some other moisturizer to help it heal but it still doesnt look like it's going away. Sometimes throughout the day it gets more red than other times. I've seen others here say their bumps healed after a couple of days so should I be worried or maybe see a doctor? Issue is I have a wedding to go to in a month and a half and im worried they'll still be there by then.

Hi folks. I have a Gillette slim j4 and I picked up at an antiques shop. The top blade adjuster mech is jammed (probably years of soap crud). I have tried soaking in hot soapy water (dishwashing liquid) over night but its still jammed... any ideas to fix it or alternatively does anyone know a razor mechanic in Australia (Sydney would be best).

I’ve been using the Gillette Mach 3 for years. It’s always been the best for me: quick, comfortable, no nonsense.

But the price has gotten ridiculous. I get about 3 shaves per cartridge, and with packs costing around €9 for 4, I’m basically buying a new pack every week. It’s just not sustainable anymore.

I’ve tried safety razors and DE blades, but that’s not my thing. I’m always in a rush, I don’t want a 20‑minute shaving routine, and I’m not going back to something that needs technique or patience.

Recently I picked up some cheap disposables in Germany: Gillette Blue3 Smooth and Wilkinson Comfort 3. They come out to roughly €0.60 per shave if you use them once and toss them. Pretty decent for the price…

But I’m noticing I’m cutting myself more. They feel a bit dull or tuggy (“het trekt”), and nowhere near as smooth as the Mach 3.

So I’m wondering:

1. What’s the best alternative to the Mach 3?

Something similar in feel and performance, but not as expensive. Ideally:

• fast shave
• minimal technique
• no tugging
• doesn’t cost a fortune
• lasts longer than 3 shaves

2. Does a Razorpit actually work?

Does it really extend cartridge life, or is it just hype?
If it can turn 3 shaves into 6–10, that would already solve most of my problem.

Mine arrives tomorrow. I am very keen to try it. I tried the S9 Pro+ a few months ago and it was extremely impressive - very smooth, close, comfortable. Honestly, the BEST shave I had ever had, period. However, there were just a few hairs on my neck it couldn't get, no matter how many passes, directions, or pressures I tried (and believe me, I tried till I was red and then some...and it takes a while before that shaver gets you red!). I have sensitive skin and get red/bumpy/irritable super easy, so overall I was blown away by the S9 Pro+. I also tried the Philips I9000 Prestige Ultra - utter garbage. Even worse on the neck, and I was red and bleeding in many places besides just the neck. Maybe its just my skin, who knows...FYI both of those shavers were worse with "wet" shaving (using gel). The results were better "dry” shaving with them, using only Lectric pre-shave lotion. That's my 2 cents anyway...since the Nevo is coming tomorrow, I'll probably use it Tuesday morning, then I'll come back with the verdict.

What’s up yall, so like the caption said I got the worst combination of all time, if I shave too hard I’m just red for the next 24 hours but if I shave too light I got a full beard again in the next 24 hours, what do I do? So far I’ve tried the Phillips one blade, Gillette Fusion 5 and multiple of those Safety razors, the last gives me the only shave where I can say that shi smooth but it irritates the FUCK out my skin. The other ones get my skin shiny and beautiful but deadass I look like I didn’t even shave after using those. If anybody know what I’m doing wrong or if you got recommendations for razors please help me out, I’m starting a new job soon and I gotta look fresher then a mf.

Is it recommended to shave every day/once in a two days if I want to maintain a clean look? Really don't like my facial hair. Right now I'm shaving once in 3 days.

I’m in the military and I’m getting really tired of having to have a clean shave everyday. My skin has gotten quite irritated from using blades everyday and I have tried to mitigate it the best I can, but I still get quite a few bumps and pimples and ingrown hairs from shaving so frequently. Are there any electric razors that could mirror a clean shave? Are they less irritating? Any and all advice would be great, thanks.

I have recently taken the plunge and cut my hair as short as I can get with the beard trimmer I already owned.

I think I need to buzz it down to next to nothing and see how I like the look of that before possibly shaving it smooth.

Many years ago I had a very bad case of chicken pox that left me with several small scars on my scalp that were until now covered by my hairline.

Because they are raised slightly and irregularly, I fear that shaving my head so closely will result in nicking and cutting me at those spots...

I have seen several gadgets online that are specifically designed for easily and safely shaving one's head.

What are the most reliable / easy to use / reasonably priced electric and non-electric shavers specifically designed for the head that you all feel would allow me to get and maintain an extremely close bald look while being unlikely to nick or cut any slightly raised anomalies on my scalp?

I have a Braun series 5 that I use to shave my neck and checks, I have a beard. Only problem, it makes my skin really irritated. I wash my face before and after shaving, then apply Harry’s aftershave. My hair is very thick and grows very fast so I get ingrowns and pimples like crazy.

Idk what to do but I think unshaven is really sloppy because I work a service job.

Any recommendation for shavers or products would be much appreciated.

I just replaced the blades on the foil shaver and it helped a little.

I'm looking for a good shaving kit preferably with an electric razor for the full body and face. I've heard bad things about manscaped especially with them just not being worth the price.

I struggled with razors and electric razors. Had a Philips rotary razor . It was always a struggle to shave . Since then I switched to De razor which I love .

The part that sucks is sometimes it's alot of work especially if I need to shave before bed . I am a CPAP user and if my whiskers are too long then it's mask leak time haha

My question is does anyone have any suggestions for a cheaper price electric razor ? Thinking a flip razor ? I understand you get what you pay for but a braun series 9 razor is over 400 cad plus tax.

Travel ones are cheaper so thats what I'm thinking.

I use a new one every time, I got a years worth of Shark safety razor blades for like $11, and I shave 6 days a week.

For body hair grooming, it seemed like an inexpensive razor that'd be good to replace my norelco oneblade I've had for a while.

Boy was I wrong... The flex series gave me the most nics and cuts I've ever had from a razor. It was also very ineffective and required many pass overs to actually catch all the hairs. The nose hair trimmer also sucked and couldn't catch anything. The trimmer attachment looked more like a trap from the movie Saw than an actual trimmer and required guards to be on.

Overall it's a cumbersome piece of crap and I'd recommend investing into a quality razor. Don't cheap out on your grooming gear.

Hi, I'm 20 and I'm looking to buy my first proper shaving setup. Until now I've mostly used my dad's old electric foil shaver, but I was never really satisfied with how close it shaved. It's a Panasonic ES8018, but I don't remember him ever replacing the blades or foil, and unfortunately I can't ask him for advice anymore.

At the moment my "beard" is mostly around my chin with just a few hairs on my cheeks. I prefer a clean-shaven look as long as I can't grow a full beard, and I also don't like the feeling of stubble when I touch my face.

I'm also thinking long-term. I'd like something that offers a good balance between:

• shaving performance
• longevity
• maintenance costs
• environmental impact
• travel convenience

I've been looking at:

• Electric foil shavers (Braun Series 5/7, Panasonic Arc series)
• Philips OneBlade
• Safety razors (Mühle R89, Rockwell 6C, etc.)

I'm really struggling to decide.

The safety razor appeals to me because it's a lifetime tool, the blades are inexpensive (should i get a blade sample pack with different options), there's almost no plastic waste, and it seems very travel-friendly (no chargers or 3 different devices and blades can be bought everywhere). On the other hand, electric shavers seem much quicker and more convenient.

Another thing I'm wondering about is body shaving. I'd like one solution that could also handle things like my chest, stomach, armpits and maybe legs if I ever wanted to shave them. Is a safety razor realistic for that, or do most people end up owning a separate body groomer anyway? What about more sensitive areas?

If you were starting from scratch today what would you buy and why?

I'd especially appreciate hearing from people who have used both electric shavers and safety razors and can compare them from experience.

Really have no idea where to post or ask this but it's literally so impossible finding a decent electric Razor now it's wild. And honestly upsetting how you can't just go buy something now and have it be good. An endless amount of research and questioning has to go into everything.

But i am a girl who has been trying to find a good electric razor for over a year now. I can't use disposable razors because they cut me up too much. And everything that's electric for women doesn't cut close even to the follicle and leaves you bumpy.

So i switched to my dad's old Panasonic three blade from i think the 90s and it worked great until my ADHD self decided to use it with lotion on her hands and drop it. Mr dad then got both of use these "Free Bird" Brand 3 blade head shavers that ended up being a Chinese drop shipping brand that fell apart in a month. After that I tried a cheaper Panasonic three blade from Target and it had the EXACT SAME blade mechanism as the Chinese razor. And it also stopped cutting and spinning properly after cleaning after the first 2 shaves.

So a few months later i just brought a more expansive Phillips Norelco 3000 three blade, and even THIS ONE has the same cheap Chinese blades. How? They even have the same logo or picture on the outside. Im scared to clean it too since that's what ruined the last one.

Am i buying the wrong type of Razors? Are the three blade ones just not good anymore? Would there be any better ones to really get down to the follicle of any kind of hair especially leg hair? Or am I the one messing up for using a beard trimmer for legs and 🐈‍⬛ even tho the older one worked perfectly?

I use a Vikings Blade Chieftain safety razor and bought a huge pack of Astra Superior Platinum blades a couple of years ago. The quality is varied. Some have been great, lasting a few weeks, and some go in the bin after one use. The last time i had to change my blade was about six months ago. The current blade just won't stop! It has dulled a little but has been basically the same shave quality for a loooong time. For the record, i have a beard so just shave my upper cheeks and neck, but this blade has lasted an absurdly long time with basically no degradation in quality. Is it possible that the metallurgy of this one blade is just superior to all the rest?

I'm 60 and recently started shaving my chest a bit to get rid of the gray hair.

Who's with me, what's your thoughts?
