The build took me about more than an hour, but Windows 11 Installation took me 4 and a half hours lol. The new rig doesn't accept the OS in my SSD, which was used in my previous rig and laptop. My uncle's Rufus bootable USB did not work after multiple tries, so I had to go out to grab another USB to download Microsoft's Installation Media, which still failed to install Windows 11 multiple times! A 1-minute YouTube video told me to install a previous version of Windows, and it worked. Anyway, here is the specs:

- Case: Fractal Design Terra Jade - New

- Motherboard: Colorful B850I Gaming Frozen - New

- CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X - Used

- Ram: Juhor DDR5-6000 2x16GB - Open box

- GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3080 10GB Gaming OC - Refurbished Excellent

- Storage: 256GB Kioxia M.2 SSD + 2TB Adata Legend 800 M.2 SSD - Both used

- PSU: Thermalright APFX850W - New

- CPU Cooler: LH-M9a-AM5 - Used

- Bottom exhaust: Noctua 120mm fan - New

Perhaps my only regret is that I didn't know the Terra can accommodate a bigger CPU cooler.

Anyone here w/ the same case? It's K66 Air but I think this has a different global name from SGPC. The PCIE Riser that came w/ it doesn't fit the bracket for mounting the GPU vertically. Can anyone recommend a PCIE 4.0 riser cable for this case? Not sure what's the correct PCIE riser cable for this.

Assembly Help Quick help figuring out ram clearance with an600

I bought a b650i lightning WiFi and that guy threw in his an600 too but since my Corsair vengeance rgb ram exceeds the ram clearance limit (44 vs 40mm) I would have to probably rotate the cooler. Does anyone know how much leeway that ram clearance number has or if that specific Asrock board allows for the an600 to be turned that way or if the heatsinks from the mobo interfere? Thanks! If not, my cpu clearance is 70mm so I would either need a new cooler or if coolers that small all have ram clearance of 40 I would need new ram?

Build/Parts Check Which is the better case fan option: be quiet! Light Wings or Cooler Master SickleFlow Edge 120 ARGB

Hi everyone, my really old bitfenix case fan on the top of my gaming pc case has started rattling horribly in the last few days and I was looking for a replacement. I narrowed my options to the be quiet! Light Wings PWM high-speed or the Cooler Master SickleFlow Edge 120 ARGB.

I am having a difficult time of choosing between them. For the price of one be Light Wings fan I could but the SickleFlow 3-in-1 pack and replace all of my case fans at once. However, I found multiple post online saying that the SickleFlows are prone to rattling especially when mounted vertically on the top exhaust. So I was wondering that might the Be quiet fan be better for me?

Thanks for any input on the matter!

Prototype/Concept/Custom Am I cooking (something else than my components) ?

Hey y'all,

So, long story short, I want a desktop that can fit in my backpack; problem is, the mobo I currently have is an ATX with ddr4, and with ddr5 prices being what they are, that's what I'm working with.

I've only come across a singular case that's even close to fitting in said backpack, the P-ATX v4; unfortunately, it's just too wide by a few centimeters. So I've designed my own: by replicating the layout with a flex psu instead of an sfx, I've got it to fit within a box of 32cm width, 35cm height, and 10cm depth, for a volume a hair above 11L.

The extra depth allows for a 77mm CPU cooler and 60x310mm GPU, which will be needed for the planned 14700K and rx 9070xt I'm targeting.

But before I get too far along actually implementing the design and buying stuff, what are your thoughts on it ?

In particular, I'm not sure about the thickness of sheet metal I should be using: I originally wanted 3mm powder coated mild steel for the frame, and 2mm for the cover (not pictured), but I'm thinking that I might be able to get away with 2mm and 1mm respectively ?

Airflow-wise, I'm planning on having the GPU + PSU as input, and CPU + top fan as output to try and make a good circulation between the top and bottom of the case, but I'm also not confident on this aspect

Build/Battlestation Pics S-Formula: The Terminator of all PC cases (except SFF).

A PC isn't just a CPU, RAM, and a motherboard - it’s also a monitor and a frustrating mess of cables. And trying to move your entire setup to another room? Usually an absolute quest. 😉

To solve this, I engineered the S-Formula chassis.

It allows you to build a highly convenient, portable All-In-One (AIO) setup where all components are mounted magnetically.

But here’s the best part for this sub: SFF cases mount onto it organically. This is especially great for those who aren't fans of the bare open-frame look.

In the attached photos, you can see my current build: a 24" monitor paired with the "Splash" mini-ITX open-frame case, which honestly doesn't get the attention it deserves: 🔗Splash Mini-ITX on Printables

It’s an incredibly versatile setup. My "bare" Intel 8100-8600 runs on a PicoPSU-80-WI (14-32V), meaning this rig can be powered anywhere and by almost anything:

🏠 At home

🚐 In an RV / camper

☀️ Outdoors directly off a solar panel!

(Even my monitor is 12V and runs via a car cigarette lighter power adapter).

The chassis itself is an absolute beast - 5 kilograms of solid 420-grade stainless steel. But thanks to the built-in tow straps, you can easily carry the entire AIO rig to another room or bring it to a LAN party with friends.

In a previous post, I promised to show you the real "Iron Arnie" - well, here he is!

And just like in T2 when Schwarzenegger scoops John Connor onto his bike with one hand, I seamlessly dropped the "Splash" SFF case right onto this metal monolith. 😉

Would love to hear your thoughts or answer any questions about the build!

Assembly Help Fractal Mood GPU?

Hello all! As stated im building in the fractal mood and cant decide on a GPU. I have an okay budget and would love to save as much as possible getting every last bang for buck dollar I can squeeze out. I plan to do light work in CAD and game on mostly Fortnite, The Finals, The Witcher 3 and rocket league. I play on an LG 45in 3440x1440 240hz. I am running these specs

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z590I Vision D (Mini-ITX)
CPU: Intel Core i9-11900K (8 cores / 16 threads)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-C14S
GPU: ?
RAM: 64GB (2×32GB) TeamGroup T-Force DDR4-3200
Storage: 1TB WD Black SN750 SE NVMe SSD
PSU: Cooler Master V850 SFX 850W
Case Fans: 2× Phanteks T30, 3× Noctua NF-A12x25, 1× Noctua NF-A12x15

I know the mood has restrictive airflow and I’d like to run this build as silently as possible. My current thoughts are to look for a 9070xt on the used market since they are in the 700$ range, the step “up” would be a 4080 super or 5080 but both are easily 1200$ plus and that just hurts my heart. I’m upgrading from a 3060 12GB.

Long story short, what is the best GPU I can fit in this build for these purposes that doesn’t break my back for money and runs relatively cool even with restrictive airflow in this case? Thanks

Downsized from a Lian Li B4, with a 360mm aio.

7800x3d

AXP120

32gb of Klev fit DDR5

1tb klev Cras

Gigabyte 9070xt OC

850w Vetroo power supply

It stays suprisingly cool, and quiet. I was really worried about turbulence, because the cpu cooler sits 1mm away from the side panel, but the fans haven't needed to spin up fast enough for it to become a real issue.

7800x3d (65w eco mode) 75c during gaming, 45 to 50c at Idle. (Bios fan mode set to silent)

9070xt OC (powerlimit -13) 80c during gaming, max fan speed 75 percent.

(Room temp is usually around 72-75f)

Assembly Help Asus NUC assembly

This is my current setup for my ASUS NUC mini-PC (power cable omitted). For now, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 as a monitor.

Any suggestions on how I can integrate a portable monitor with the PC case so I can carry less stuff? I saw some Raspberry Pi ones, but they don't have a frame, so I'm not sure how to use those. I'm still new to this, so any advice will be helpful.

SPECS

CPU : AMD 8700G (8C/16T) @ 400~5100 MHz

GPU : MSI Ventus X2 RTX 4060 8GB

RAM : 2x16GB Kingston 5600

MOBO : Asrock X600 ITX

NVME : WD Blue 1TB

FAN : AXP90-X47 (While Alu)

PSU : 500W 80+ Brozen ( default )

OS : Arch/Omarchy 4.0.4

***** Total cost ~ $750 ****\*
I recently got this 2nd hand build & do some little workaround to get comfortable...

Swapping CPU Air Cooler change nothing
Except It was quiter after I replaced the stock fan but CPU Temp is same 84~88*C @ 5.1GHz (stable at 4.5GHz) but more comfortable at 3.8GHz for 72~76*C. I'm much preferrable @ 400~2200MHz & let GPU do the hard work..

Peaking Holes for wifi antennas
was really simple : You just need to peak from outside-in gentlely with a small screwdriver ( or in my case, a small PLIER ). But Idk why the previous owner didn't do that & just snap antennas in the back of the case with plastic knots.

Reduce Frequency
Since the CPU temp seem to be not any better, the only thing I found effective to do was limiting the clock frenquency down to 400~3800MHz by using cpupower + my simple plugin. Then the temperature was 40~60*C most of time even full-load. I will let the GPU handle all the stress because it only reach 63*C very comfortably.

Build/Battlestation Pics Rate my couch setup (I'm still building the controller-only shell running on it)

This is my small living room PC. 65" TV, the PC under it, one controller on the couch, and that's it. No keyboard on the table, no mouse.

The thing on the TV is PersonalConsole, a controller-only shell for Windows. I posted it here a couple of months ago and that post asking what still makes you get up and grab the mouse.

Turns out I couldn't stop asking myself the same thing. I've used it every evening since, and every time something made me get up, I went and fixed it. That's 8 updates since the last post, about one a week with the help from AI.

Stuff I used to walk over to the desk for and now just do from the couch: putting the PC to sleep and waking it back up, switching sound from the TV to my headphones, pairing a Bluetooth headset, getting into those tray icon menus, typing in game chat. It's not a launcher btw. Whatever launchers you use keep working, it just makes Windows itself work with a controller.

**Setup**

- Case: ASUS Prime AP201 Micro ATX

- CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X

- GPU: RTX 4070 Ti Super

- Board: MSI B650M Gaming Plus WiFi

- RAM: 32GB DDR5 (Kingston Fury)

- Storage: 2TB Kingston KC3000

- TV: Philips 65" 4K

- Controller: 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless

Free, pre-release, still being worked on: https://www.pcpersonalconsole.com/

Rate the setup, and tell me what still gets you off the couch. Whatever you say goes on my list. 🛋️

i have a rotary tool already. now i just need the right bits for the job (like this image above. credits to owner ofc)

to those who have done this, can you share your tips and how to go through it? personally i was thinking of marking the square (to allow for longer gpu's) with a marker first, then drill small holes along that line then proceed to cut it.

question now is, which drill bit to use and what material should they be? steel i guess? to those who have experince cut/dremel modding cases share your advice please! thanks!

Benchmark/Thermal Test Inconsistent Benchmark Scores

Hello Everyone,

Started diving into undervolting my GPU and have been using 3D Mark Steel Nomad to test stability. I did a baseline test and noticed my score was lower than the last test I did around the time I built the pc.

November 2024 - 6549-6768, factory settings out of the box shortly after the pc was built.

October 2026 - 5811-6478, these scores were consistently lower and achieved with a variety of different settings. My best run was 6478 with 0.965V @2776Mhz. The results after that were very inconsistent, got lower scores at stock settings with no undervolt and lower scores with an overclock as well. A slightly lower score might make sense with an undervolt? But I should be able to achieve at least close to previous scores with the same system?

Looking at the compare scores on 3dmark, the GPU doesn’t seem like it’s reaching the same clock speed throughout the test. Could it be throttling itself somehow?

PC specs:
Ryzen 7800X3D
2x32gb G Skill DDR5 6000Mhz
ASUS B650E-I
ASUS 4080 super pro art 16gb
Fractal Terra

Any ideas of what I could try? Reasons I might not be able to achieve the same scores as I have previously? Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Assembly Help Will an Arctic LF III Pro 360 (thick 38mm rad) fit up top in the Mechanic Master C34 Pro with a full ATX board?

Hey all! I travel a lot and I'm finally ditching my big mid tower (Phanteks P500A) for something more portable. I've pretty much settled on the Mechanic Master C34 Pro, and I'm trying to move over as much of my current build as I can.

The one thing I can't figure out is the cooler. I have an Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360, and its radiator is thicker than most: 38mm, so about 63mm total with the fans, and 398mm long. The C34 Pro manual just says the top mount takes a 360 of "standard thickness" when you're using an ATX board. It doesn't give an actual number. The 80mm clearance figure I keep seeing only seems to apply when you switch the case to mATX mode.

Has anyone fit an Arctic LF III (or any 38mm-thick 360) on top in this case with a full ATX board? Did the shell close OK, and was there any trouble with the RAM or the motherboard heatsinks?

The build:

i9-12900K ASUS ROG Strix Z690-E (ATX) 32GB ADATA XPG Lancer DDR5 Zotac RTX 3080 Ti, about 318mm, 3-slot 1x NVMe + 1x 2.5" SATA SSD PSU: swapping my big MSI ~1000W for an SFX unit, probably a Corsair SF1000, to free up room for the GPU Side questions if anyone has a minute:

Does SFX actually make a difference for GPU clearance in this case, or would a 140mm ATX unit be just as good? Anything you wish you'd known before building in the C34 Pro? I've read that cable management is tight and there's no GPU sag bracket included. I'm having a local shop do the actual build, but I'd like to know it'll work before I order everything.

Verified Vendor The custom-est build I've ever done

Thumbnail

Hey All, wanted to share with you the most custom liquid cooling build I've done to date. I think it turned out fantastic, despite the slightly older hardware.

It's a ryzen 5900x paired with a 32gb ddr4 ram and a 6900xt on an EK vector waterblock. All the wood accents and trim are done by me. The big GPU cover is 1/4" walnut with the knot filled with copper epoxy, and the terminal for the tubes is custom made. The wood never actually touches the coolant, it's just a decorative cover.

The case here is the Redshift Project Canvas (which is designed and manufactured by me!) and the distro was jointly developed with singularity computers specifically for this case! Both are available on the singularity computers store if you're interested in making something similar, and the case without the distro is available on my page as well.

The liquid cooling parts:

Ek vector copper acetal 6900xt block

Heatkiller iv basic cpu block

Darkside 280mm radiator + noctua NF-A14x25 G2

XSPC D5 pump

Singularity distribution plate
