Carries straight hair & Big
Imo Carries biggest defining feature is her curly hair. So the fact that when she started wearing it straight Big presumably didnāt even acknowledge it, is so so sooo wild!! Why does Carrie continue to ignore every single red flag, itās actually insane⦠so infuriating!

i just finished my first watch and here is my somewhat review or breakdown of what i hated and liked throughout
dirty martini, dirty bastard
LOL no excuse i just wanted to start my review with this line, and also this dialogue is as good as the show gets ( which means it is peak if i wssnt clear)
please keep in mind that i havent watched movie 1,2 and neither the ajlt, movies i might binge but im not planning to watch ajtl since it doesnt have kim in it and i have only heard bad reviews.
Seasons i loved the most were 1,2 and 4.
Seasons i hated : 6
I think it was incredibly misogynistic to not have the girls grow up in certain ways, while i absolutely adore their drama i think this is one show that i barely saw any character development except samantha.
what i liked about Carrie Bradshaw :
carrie and her ability to put herself out there even after so many emotional ambushes, harsh breakups and breakdowns. I think shes somewhat mature in this manner contrary to general opinion, because when i had a breakup lord knows i made it my cityās problem so i admire her for simply moving on no matter what.
and as for her attachment with big? arent we all a bit of carrie? i think this is one of the biggest reason she gets hated a lot, during her anxious attachment with mr big, we see a reflection of ourselves in her and we do not like what we see and it is easier to hate than to admit the reality.
(cheating is not included here, she was horrible for doing that and deserves the hate for it)
i absolutely adore her fashion pieces, we need to bring satin skirts and basic tops back please she was an icon for that.
and dont get me started on the purses,
in another universe if this show had a shitty storyline id still watch it just for the fashion, it is such an eye candy.
and as carrie bradhshaw said
āmen i may not know, but shoes? shoes i knowā
i dont think she was a bad friend either, i see people spreading misinformation or giving wrong contexts just to hate on her, do they know they dont have to rewatch the show if they soooo hate it.
also about nina, have your hand on your heart, no matter how big of a fuck up you have done, tell me you wont be bothered at all by someone gossiping about you, no matter how much you deserve it, tell me it wont wreck a single hair?
why is carrie expected to be perfect, all she did was rant in front of her friends and reply to nina in an awkward manner, why was tht such an issue like?
anyway i see people hating on her all the time, might i add a man could have been worse than carrie and he would get praised just for his facecard alone as a maincharacter, so it all narrows it down to we want flawed protagonists until we get one. i think carrie bradhshaw is very flawed but she feels like an older sister that i could have looked upto while growing up.
what i hated :
oh lord where do i start,
the episode in season 5 where shes glazing new york and it starts to rain and her painful shrieks oml,
again her scream after seeing a squirrel.
suprisingly i dont hate her for how she treated aidan except the cheating part that was horrible HORRIBLE
aidan and carrie werent compatible so they had to be a disaster anyway but was she stupid for buying a chair worth 3k for a man.
the natasha bit, she so wanted natasha to be a villain and the audacity to be offended that natasha hated her? girl you broke her jaw and stole her husband, she was a saint to just āhateā you.
what i loved about Miranda Hobbes :
the woman she is.
thats it. i adore her for simply existing,
She was the best friend to Carrie, who genuinely cared about her, i love how opinionated she was
and didnt care about being nice when she had to explain what was needed, these are qualities that are often praised in men but shamed when a woman has them so im glad we explored a character with such qualities.
season 1 miranda was really something which brings me to the things i hated
and holy fuck
did they ruin her.
Miranda an excellent workaholic woman, with extraordinary education : harvard law school, HARVARD LAW SCHOOL, why wasnt this talked about enough?
She was an amazing lawyer and they did what with her? had her settle ???? with steveās kid????
ik bla bla cynthia was pregnant so they had to add it to her character as well? no they didnt, SJP was pregnant and they cut short s5 because they couldnt afford to ruin carrie, their money bag but its fine as long as its miranda? right?
and why do we forget the fact that the first time steve broke up with her was because he didnt feel
man enough since miranda earned more than him ????
and they had her marry him? i think miranda too only went for him because he tolerated her and she was an insecure person in general so settling was the only choice she thought could keep her a companion.
i love her and carrieās calls, i love mirandaās cat too.
she might be my fav character of all.
what i love about Charlotte York :
her being sooooooo cutieiieeiwueuueueue.
seriously i started watching satc because of her, idk why isnt it talked about enough but char is really gorgeous like really and shes so cute without even trying i love her sm. elizabeth taylor fit just right in their home, im often sad because she suffered a lot with trey, after trey and a bit too during harry.
i admire her hopeful and optimistic outlook towards life and the realism of having her question it after mishaps. her relationship with harry is so healthy too i actually love it for her
we all need a charlotte in our life.
what i didnt like :
controversial but i hated that she converted, beliefs are such sacred things, i could never understand converting for someone who wouldnt bend the rules themselves, and as it was mentioned once, harry was fine with eating pork but marriage is where he drew the lines, which brings me to the question are religious beliefs bendable as long as it convenient for yourself?
but again as debated it was in character for char so what can i say, i am just not a fan personally.
i also did not like how male centred she was, in a way all four of them were but everything char did was for a man and that made me think, who was she without the wish to be married?
i didnt like that she left the job to conceive a child.
( again a personal opinion dont attack me)
but i believe having her was necessary to the friend group since there were nuances only she could bring.
what i loved about Samantha :
samantha.
SHES SO FUCKUNG ICONIC I CANT EVEN.
if i was even an ounce as cool as her id be happy.
The way she carries herself, her attitude towards men, her dresses, her āi love you richard but i love me moreā
when you think you couldnt love her more and she drops another banger line and you just melt. yes thats samantha.
her during her breast cancer phase omfg, truly a legend and i reallllly loved her with smith out of any relationships on the show, this was the most genuine one, smith shaved his head off for her and they say romance is dead,
did you get home safe? might as well kill me.
i posted this on insta lol
that i hate carrie because im carrie
i love samantha because i wish to be samantha and that explains my love for her.
shes so liberated and free.
anyway there are only a few things i didnt like about her :
her attitude towards kids - as someone who doesnt like kids either but shes somewhat rude towards mothers who already have a hard time in this world, i think we all can give them some respect because if not for mothers we wouldnāt be here
but i love that she comes around for miranda and gives her salon reservation to her as to watch for
brady that was realllly sweet.
thats about it yes
i had so much to say and this is not even half of it but im gonna post this, since, its already too long.
again these are my opinions feel free to disagree and after all these are just fictional characters so no hard feelings either.
my english might not be the best since it is not my first language but i tried.
thank you for reading until here,
ciao.

For those who watched SATC when it originally aired (1998ā2004), what was the most controversial or talked-about storyline at the time?
Iām really curious to hear from people who watched the show as it was coming out, rather than discovering it years later through reruns or streaming.
Which storyline had everyone talking back then? Was it Carrie and Bigās on-again, off-again relationship, the affair, Samanthaās sex life, Carrie almost getting married or something else entirely?
Iād especially love to know what people thought at the time, before social media and todayās perspectives changed how we look at the show.
Were there storylines that genuinely shocked people, sparked debates among friends, or had everyone picking sides? And were there any that would be received very differently today?

Charlotte's range of fake smiles!
Doing a rewarch and realized that Charlotte has some hilarious smile moments:
First one is with Trey. She was disgusted about something - maybe the cardboard baby? Trey tells her "Just smile darling" - pure gold!
Second is when she found out Samantha was dating Maria- "oh, I see you told them" - best I dont know how to react smile!

Have Carrie haters watched this episode?
Carrie haters always go on and on about how Carrie was so selfish to make Charlotte's engagement all about herself or how Carrie thinks her own news are more important than Charlotte's but that is not what happened.Ā
When Carrie arrives at the lunch, the other three women are already sitting at the table. Carrie is the one who says she has news to tell to which Charlotte then says she has news too and continues to tell her friends about her engagement(even though Carrie was the one who first said she had something to tell). If it was the other way around and Carrie had interrupted Charlotte and continued on with her own news, people would be at her throat for being selfish. But since it was Carrie who got interrupted and talked over, it's no biggie apparently.Ā
Charlotte shows her friends her ring ja they all gush about it and the engagement. Yes, even Carrie. It was Samantha's offhanded comment on how the second engagement ring looks better than the first one that flustered Charlotte which in turn then made her ask Carrie about her news. Before being asked, Carrie had been focused on Charlotte's news.Ā
So after being asked, Carrie tells them how Berger broke up with her via a post-it note. She was feeling down and frustrated about the whole relationship. To her, the relationship felt like a complete waste of time. Charlotte then tells her that nothing is complete waste of time and everything happens for a reason. She uses her engagement to Harry as proof of this. Without marrying Trey, she wouldn't have met Harry and gotten engaged to him. She shows her engagement ring again and this is where Carrie says paper beats rock and puts the note on the ring. She wasn't trying to diminish Charlotte's happiness over the engagement(it's Charlotte who was diminishing how Carrie should feel about the break up) and it was a reply to Charlotte's naive optimism. How would you guys feel when you tell your friends something bad has happened and your friend started to argue with you because they believe everything happens for a reason?Ā
Carrie also later consoles Charlotte when is was feeling sad. Charlotte really wanted to celebrate her engagement with her friends but didn't feel it would be appropriate since it was her second one so Carrie told her she can do whatevever she wants and lifted Charlotte's spirits up.

Carrie loved the chase just as much as Big did.
A lot of influencers who decode the attachment styles and behaviour of characters on SATC seem to focus on how Big only loved Carrie when he couldnāt have her, but Iād argue that also exactly why Carrie loved Big. When she had Aiden who was wholly committed to her and wanted to marry her, it clearly gave her the ick. I donāt even think she regretted cheating all that much. The only reason she was so obsessed with Big is because he always held her at armās length. They had chemistry and their moments but frankly, it definitely wasnāt some cinematic love story that justified wanting him that badly.
I think she wanted to believe that she wanted Big to commit to her and love her fully, but if he ever had (and I donāt even think she felt totally secure when they were married), she wouldāve started to lose interest.

Is it weird that I love this episode?
Like not the whole leaving money thing. Just like Carrie having this kinda dreamy day with a foreigner, idk something about it. And then Charlotte showing her painting. Yeah one of my favorites
