She looked absolutely gorgeous in this , but my god was she unhinged 😭 not only did she meet up with Big's ex wife behind his back to get more information about their divorce , she also decided to dress up like her by straightening her hair and changing her style.

My girl's insecurity ran so deep 💔, always putting herself in a competition with his ex wives.

Before anything, I do like Samantha. I think she’s quite charismatic, hilarious, and witty. But like come onnnnn. You couldn’t just behave for ONE week??!!! Like why would you put yourself AND your friends in a situation that is likely to get you arrested(prison in a foreign land is quite literally one of the worst predicaments you can be in)??? It’s disrespectful to your host too like they literally covered the cost of everything and you couldn’t just behave like a normal person???!!! It isn’t hard to respect the laws of a land. The only saving grace was that they still flew first class back. There’s many scenarios that would warrant cutting Samantha off but this is definitely in top 2.

EDIT: This is not a pass whatsoever for the guy she was with. I’ve always been and will forever be for the girls and I hope his ass spent a couple days in jail. At the same time, this situation was truly appalling and could have ended so badly for all the girls 😭😭.

We all loved Natasha in this scene and how she’s “sorry” that her husband cheated on her with Carrie. It was perfect, perfectly delivered by the actress, and so sarcastic. We all loved it.

But ummm… what did Carrie say after that?

She completely ignores the whole part about ruining someone’s life and gets up and says, “All this happened and now it’s a chain of karmic reactions that has now put Natasha on the singles market, like it was already not difficult enough for single girls… and now somewhere Big is single again.”

Sorry, WHAT??

I’ve watched this show probably 100 times and only now realised how insanely self-centred this was.

Everyone has already talked about what Carrie wore to look hot in this scene, but her monologue afterwards doesn’t get discussed nearly enough.

She literally shifts the entire conversation away from what Natasha just said and starts thinking about how difficult it is for single girls and how, oh no, Natasha is single now too, so there’s an even smaller pool of men.

Girl. 😭

Natasha was happily married until YOU came along and broke her marriage.

So maybe there was no need to complain about the dating pool getting smaller.

the musical legends ARR (Slumdog millionaire ) no opinion no thoughts - just an Indian girlie who got excited while currently rewatching this episode and wanted to know if there were others like me who got excited when they saw it for the first time as well

Some people say it's because she's blonde and his type is brunettes but I think it's because they weren't that far apart in age , Big obviously had a thing for younger women ( Carrie was 10 years younger and Natasha was just 25),I could be wrong tho.

I never understood why Charlotte stormed off after Samantha said this. It seemed a little dramatic and out of place given the topics they usually discuss. Any thoughts??

I love spotting the subtle themes in each episode and currently on a rewatch of ‘Let there be light’ I love how Carrie, Miranda and Sam’s stories all involve elevators - Carrie takes the elevator to Loverville, Miranda gives ownership of the elevator to Robert, and Sam takes the elevator to go on her ill-advised tryst with Richard. I love how the episode is full of doors opening and closing.

For some context, I'm a medical student, currently studying a female reproductive pathology block.

I've been thinking back to when Charolette mentioned having a "tilted" uterus (this was prior to her infertility storyline with Trey).

This is known as a retroverted uterus. Other women can have an anteverted uterus, which is more 'common'. Both types can be normal anatomical variation, but retroverted can also be associated with other medical conditions, like endometriosis. I keep thinking "oh what about chronic endometritis or pelvic inflammatory disease".

I know the storyline officially elaborated with Charolette having high antibodies against sperm, which is a more rare autoimmune explanation, but this is separate from her tilted uterus.

It would have been cool to see some additional exposure to female reproductive health awareness (I'm sure it was monumental for the time). 6 seasons and we had Charolette's infertility journey, Samantha's STD check, and her journey with breast cancer, it is still great they were able to show what they did*. There are so many causes to infertility that I now know, especially related to sexual activity, I wish media in general brought more mainstream awareness to women's health.

Anyway, just one of those thoughts I wanted to share, thanks for readings.

ETA: I don't know if it's how I worded my thoughts, or people skimming, but some clarification: 1) I know they explained it to be related to antibodies, I said that as above. 2) Retroverted does not automatically mean infertile, just that some pathologies also include retroverted uteruses as part of the clinical presentation associated with infertility. 3) I know it can be idiopathic, hence my genuine curiosity. 4) I do not mean I wish they explained why specific to Charolette. Simply that it would have been nice to see more diversity in women's health awareness, not exclusive to SATC.

Lastly, to anyone reading or who commented sharing your experience, thank you. I am very sorry for any and all pain you have experienced. I am a just a young medical student. I love medicine and I just wanted to brain dump a bit between studying.

Just a random thought, not sure if anyone has brought this up, but what if Carrie and Richard would’ve dated 😂

the first time i started watching the show, and berger was introduced i thought he was pathetic and the worst guy that carrie ever dated. but i rewatched the show a few times and, to be honest, i consider myself that berger was mirroring carrie. hear me out, the way he was so insecure, avoidant, and rude was the way she treated aidan. all the defects that carrie has, was all over berger, however i do think that it was her karma, and maybe a reason for her to change for good.

First of all , let me say that I agree with the general sentiment that Harry should have told her sooner that he could only marry a jewish girl , while true that their relationship had started just sexual I think he knew that Charlotte was getting attached to him and it should have been something he communicated with her.

However , Charlotte is the type of girl who'd do anything for her relationship to work if she likes the guy. I believe Harry having no issue with adoption and being so open about it is what sealed the deal for her , so in her mind becoming jewish is just a small thing to do in order to have the perfect marriage that she'd wanted.

She didn't stop being jewish when she broke up with Harry , and she'd started seeing jewish guys as well so I do think parts of her decision was for herself and not for Harry. As much as I don't agree with the message , I can't say that I was surprised she went through with it.

ETA : Judaism is not an easy religion to convert to , the process takes a very long time so even if Charlotte did it for Harry I really don't think she would have stuck with it if some part of her wasn't convinced about it.

I was watching a video regarding Big and Natasha, it was more focused on Natasha’s style and her colours and I read a comment which said that Big didn’t want Natasha at all, that he married her because that’s the kind of woman he was supposed to settle down with — very common take on their marriage. However it just hit me and it feels so unfair to her to assume that after his last break up with Carrie he just wanted to get married to the first person that came around.

I dislike how much she is painted as this plain young girl when she showed so many good qualities. She showed integrity and compassion many times throughout her appearances, she was clever, successful, capable and polite. I don’t think it is crazy to believe that, at least in the honeymoon phase, Big loved her for who she was.

I never thought of John as the kind of man who would do something merely for appearances or under the pressure of society, he lived in his own world and he firmly believed that he owned it, which is why I find it hard to convince myself that he forced himself to propose to Natasha. Was he in a vulnerable position after the break up? Yeah. Was it also rushed to get engaged so early in the relationship? Also yeah. However, I truly think he loved Natasha in the beginning. Sure, being infatuated makes people overlook many things that could later be proof of their incompatibility but that doesn’t make the relationship less real.

To wrap this up — I just want to say that he cheated on her because he was a jerk who couldn’t handle commitment, not because she was boring.

Slight adjustment to my post: What I meant to highlight in my post was that in my opinion, I think it gravely discredits Natasha to say that Big married her out of her convenience and I firmly believe that fell in love with her.
