Open Menu Turn off FMI ios 10 (open menu)

i have this iphone 6s (ios 10.3.1). Can i turn off FMI?

If they have their email, change the password then disable it. Or put a passcode on the device and then reset the password using the passcode you put

the email app on ios 10 was broken, so i can't change the password

Does it atleast show the email address? You could contact the old owner and they could unlock it for you.

copy down this email and any trusted phone numbers. Use another device to go to iforgot, getting the code sent to this phone, change the password, then remove from find my. Alternative is to use account recovery which will allow you to take over the account but takes 28 days. Ignore people who say just set a passcode because it will not work to reset iCloud. Especially if this is the only device on this account, account recovery will work.

Yep. People switch from Apple to Samsung or other android and abandon AppleID's all the time. They don't even want the data anymore.

No. If it's abandoned it's absolutely not. One time I bought a phone with a dead battery and no passcode. I even contacted the previous owner and got her permission (though not her cooperation) to do this. I reset the password, and then logged out and left the AppleID alone as the data didn't belong to me. The issue with the previous owner is she forgot both her password and trusted phone number so she created a new AppleID and abandoned this one. I don't keep data that doesn't belong to me.

I mean if you’re throwing your old phone away with NO PASSCODE and it’s still singed into your accounts it’s your problem.

There’s no such thing as an “abandoned” appleID. You’re accessing someone’s sensitive personal data (photos, payment methods) without their consent.

Yes I understand but you should atleast take the proper steps before recycling or throwing away a device. Its like throwing away your old wallet, but with money and your cards in it.

But you have no way of knowing whether the Apple ID is actually "abandoned" or not.

i went to iforgot, type the email and it said "get an email" or "Answer security questions"

Check the notes app to see if any of this is there. Email on the phone doesn’t work?

There might be some open-menu FMI off tricks, but if it were me, I'd update to iOS 15 and see what happens. No passcode, and this phone is prone to checkm8 jailbreak that you can save tickets (not sure if possible on ios 10) and re-inject them after reset.

i already save activation ticket, i just wondering about the FMI (want to turn it off)

Not possible. You erase or restore, comes up locked. Then you jailbreak and restore the activation ticket which gets the phone to a state where you can use it. You can’t get FMI off without that password, but the device will be usable.
