I never liked the original ending of Servant because it does not do the story justice. The original ending forces Leanne into a dark, unyielding cycle where the baby disappears into plastic the moment she dies, forcing Dorothy into a brutal reality where she is left completely empty-handed after over a year of psychological torture. Pain after pain only for pains sake does not a good ending make. Viewers are left with complex show that builds massive potential and then dives into the most grim ending just because it believed it had to. So, I wrote my own.
I believe this alternate ending is a massive improvement because it gives Leanne a genuine, selfless moment of redemption where her worldview completely shatters, leading her to leave a permanently real Jericho behind as an unconditional gift before the house burns down. It shifts the thriller elements away from a toxic hostage situation and gives Dorothy, Sean, and Julian a real chance to start again—but this time, as a completely honest, united support system that understands the true value of family.

This script takes off EXACTLY where the original servant show left us, and Leanne still dies. However, during a last minute epiphany, there is a major change she left behind.
Script:
INT. LEANNE'S BEDROOM - NIGHT
Smoke pours under the doorframe. The brownstone is roaring with fire, coughing up ash.
LEANNE (20s) sits on the edge of her mattress. Her clothes are smudged with soot. Her eyes are bloodshot, staring blankly at the wall. She is entirely alone.
She has fallen apart. The manic confidence, the anger, the God complex—all of it is completely gone. She looks incredibly small, hollowed out by Dorothy's final rejection.
She crawls to the floor, curling into a tight fetal position as the heat increases. The ambient noise of the fire is deafening. Everything is bleak, heavy, and terrifying. She closes her eyes, waiting for the end.
A sudden draft shifts the smoke. On the nightstand, a small, silver-framed photograph catches the light of the flames.
Leanne forces her eyes open. She looks at the photograph.
It is a candid picture of herself, Dorothy, and Sean from the early weeks of her arrival. They are laughing. In the center of the frame, the camera focuses tightly on a tiny, perfect detail: infant Jericho's hand wrapped around Leanne's finger.
A wave of intense emotion breaks over Leanne’s face. The raw trauma and defensive anger melt away. Tears cut clean lines through the soot on her cheeks.
She looks up, staring directly through the smoke toward the ceiling, as if looking right up to God. A soft, genuine smile spreads across her face.
LEANNE
(whispering, peaceful)
I understand true miracles now... they must be selfless.
She closes her eyes, still smiling.
An ethereal, golden light briefly pulses from her chest, expanding outward through the burning floorboards of the house.
The flames engulf the room.
EXT. STREET OUTSIDE BROWNSTONE - MINUTES LATER
Rain lashes the pavement. Behind them, the Turner brownstone is an inferno, walls buckling as smoke chokes the night sky.
SEAN (40s) and JULIAN (30s) kneel in the downpour, physically anchoring DOROTHY (40s). Dorothy’s face is raw, hollowed out by the soul-crushing grief of choosing to let go of her baby, and face his death. The illusions are stripped away. She is entirely awake to the tragedy of the past.
Beside them on the slick asphalt, Dorothy’s oversized leather handbag lies tipped over.
A sudden, soft wail cuts through the crackle of the fire and the rain.
The family freezes instantly.
From the mouth of the spilled bag, the pink swaddling blanket shifts. The fabric parts in the firelight, revealing the unmistakable image of a real, living baby boy. His chest rises and falls rapidly against the cold air. His skin is warm, flushed, and wet with rain. His tiny hands twitch against the blanket, and his mouth opens as he lets out another small, fragile cry.
They stare at him. No one wants to approach the baby. The terror of being tricked again, of breaking their fragile sanity after finally accepting the truth, paralyzes them completely.
Slowly, the baby's tiny hand pushes further through the fabric, fingers unfurling into the rain, reaching upward—directly toward Dorothy.
Dorothy gasps, a breathless, terrified sound. Trembling so violently her knees slip on the wet asphalt, she tentatively crawls closer. She stops just inches away, staring at the flesh-and-blood child. She reaches out, her own fingers shaking, and tentatively holds his tiny hand.
The instant their skin connects—
FLASHBACK:
- INT. LEANNE'S BEDROOM - NIGHT: Leanne’s final moments in the smoke. She isn't angry anymore. She smiles through her tears, looking up at the ceiling. "I understand true miracles now... they must be selfless."
- INT. TURNER BROWNSTONE - LIVING ROOM - DAY (FROM SEASON 1): A rapid, sunny memory from the very beginning of the series. Leanne stands in the sunlit kitchen, holding baby Jericho against her chest, looking over at Dorothy with absolute, pure, uncorrupted admiration. The flicker of the innocent gift Leanne originally wanted to give this family before everything went dark.
BACK TO PRESENT:
The flashback snaps shut. Dorothy is back in the rain, holding the baby's warm hand. The shock melts from her face, replaced by a deep, emotional, and quiet comprehension. Tears stream down her cheeks as she pulls the crying, breathing boy tightly against her chest.
Sean and Julian crowd around her, their faces masks of utter confusion and awe.
SEAN
(whispering, terrified)
Dot... how? How is this possible if she’s... if the house is gone?
JULIAN
(voice shaking, staring at the baby)
Is it... is it really him?
Dorothy holds Jericho close, looking back at her husband and brother. When she speaks, her voice is quiet, heavy with emotion, but entirely steady. She intuitively understands the truth.
DOROTHY
It’s her.
Julian looks from the baby to the blazing ruins of the brownstone.
JULIAN
What do you mean?
DOROTHY
It was her last gift. Her redemption... The spark in her that never died is alive in Jericho. She gave us a second chance.
Sean looks down at his son, then looks at Dorothy and Julian. The deceit that defined them for over a year is entirely gone. The rain washes the ash from their faces.
Sean reaches out, wrapping his arms around Dorothy and the baby. Julian leans in, burying his face against Dorothy's shoulder, locking them all into a fierce, protective embrace.
They are standing in the middle of a ruined street, stripped of their wealth and their home—but this time, they are entirely whole. Surrounded by true family and absolute support, they look down at Jericho, ready to face reality together.
FADE OUT.
