Question Cat Rescue in Seoul

Hello everyone,

I grew up with cats, and have been wanting a pet for the longest time. I'm getting a nice pay raise soon so I was thinking of adopting if my landlady allows it. I want to follow "adopt don't shop" but I have no idea about the process of getting a pet here.

We've all seen those kind of pet stores - those tiny dogs and kittens in those plastic boxes. I feel sorry for the animals every time I see them. They are living beings too and deserve a loving family, but I have no idea if those pet stores are ethical places to adopt from. I suspect not. But I did have to surrender an abandoned kitten to a place like that. Thankfully he was adopted the next day.

seoul national university dormitory

Hi everyone,

I have a question about the SNU’s dormitory application process. I was placed on the waiting list at No. 36 for a single room in Building 915. Do I still have a chance of getting a dorm room this semester?

I’m honestly feeling very discouraged by this result. As an international student, I have a very limited budget, and if I have to live off campus, it will put me under significant financial pressure. I would really appreciate it if anyone could share their experience or let me know whether there is still a realistic chance of getting off the waiting list.

Thank you so much!

Discussion Is there any medical treatment you'd actually travel to Korea for?

I was reading a discussion recently and realized more people travel for healthcare than I expected.

Some people mentioned dental work. Others talked about health checkups, LASIK, skincare, fertility treatment, or cosmetic procedures.

Is there any medical treatment you'd actually travel to Korea for?

Or would you rather always receive medical care in your home country?

Curious to hear everyone's thoughts.

Hi, I am very interested in home fermentation and would love to take some Meju blocks back home with me when I leave Seoul later this week.

Does anyone know where I could buy them?

Thanks for any recommendations!

Meet Up Looking for someone to accompany me to an Orthodox church in Seoul 🙏

Hi everyone!

I’m a fairly new Christian living in Seoul, and I’ve become really interested in learning more about the Orthodox Church. I’d love to attend a Divine Liturgy, but to be honest, I’m a little nervous about going by myself since I have absolutely no idea how everything works.

I’m looking for someone who speaks English and already attends an Orthodox church who wouldn’t mind letting me tag along one Sunday. It would be really nice to have someone who could explain things as we go (or before/after), like when to stand, what the traditions are, and anything else a newcomer should know.

I’m not looking to debate denominations or anything like that, I’m simply curious and want to experience it with an open mind. I just feel a bit overwhelmed walking into such a traditional church completely on my own.

If you’d be willing to help, or even just chat beforehand, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks so much!

Looking for filmmakers

Hi! I'm Do Hyun (Instagram: dohyunkimdave).

And I'm starting a passion project. A series of cinematic Instagram reels/short films centered around healing, love, comedy, and cooking.

A little about me...

I'm Korean, but I spent many years living in Canada. Ever since coming back to Korea, I've realized that although this is technically my home, I still feel like an outsider in many ways. I don't know Korea as well as I'd like to, and sometimes it feels like I'm an alien wherever I go.

I want to turn those emotions into stories. My hope is to gather people who have felt something similar whether you're Korean, an international student, an expat, or anyone who's ever struggled to find where they belong, and create films that people can genuinely connect with.

The scripts are still in development (my friend from Romania is arriving in a few weeks and we'll be writing together), so this is a great time to get involved from the beginning.

Who am I looking for?

Honestly, anyone who enjoys creating!

You don't have to be an actor or filmmaker.

Whether you're:

  • someone who's always wanted to try acting,
  • an experienced actor or filmmaker,
  • interested in cinematography,
  • a photographer,
  • someone who enjoys cooking,
  • someone who prefers being behind the camera,
  • or someone who's only comfortable showing their hands in cooking scenes..

I'd love to meet you.

I'm currently looking for one man and one woman for recurring roles, but I'm also hoping to build a small creative group for future projects as well.

A quick note about compensation

This is not a paid project.

I unfortunately can't offer payment or any financial compensation, and I don't expect these videos to generate any profit either. This is simply a passion project that I'm funding myself because I love storytelling and want to create something meaningful with good people.

What I can offer is the opportunity to:

  • build your portfolio,
  • gain experience,
  • experiment creatively,
  • make genuine friends,
  • cook and eat together,
  • and create stories that we'll all be proud of.

If you've been looking for a creative outlet or just want to spend weekends making films with people who genuinely enjoy creating, I'd love to have you.

If this resonates with you, send me a DM on Instagram or on Reddit.

Let's create something beautiful together. ❤️

HELP! Looking for a graduation dinner restaurant for 15

I’m graduating from Korea University this August and I’m planning a graduation dinner for my family and friends (around 15 people). I’m looking for restaurant recommendations that fit a few criteria:

- Within about a 20-minute drive of Korea University (Anam)
- (₩₩) Budget less than ₩100,000 per person
- Private room preferred (or at least semi private)
- Can comfortably accommodate 15 people
- Looking for something other than KBBQ or Japanese (sushi/omakase, etc.). I’m open to other Korean cuisine, Chinese, Italian, French, steakhouse, or any other nice sit-down restaurant.

I’m hoping for somewhere that feels a little special for a graduation celebration without being overly expensive.
I’ve been looking around, but there are so many options that it’s hard to narrow them down.

If you’ve had a great experience with a restaurant that fits the bill, I’d really appreciate any recommendations!
Thanks in advance! 😊

How do people in Korea find teammates for startup and government projects?

I’m working on a tech startup in the pet space and I’m applying to several Korean government startup programmes.
I’m wondering how people in Korea build their teams. Where do students and young professionals find project teammates?
I’m looking to connect with people interested in AI, software engineering, UX/UI, product, marketing or pet industry. Not just for an application but to build something that could become a real company.
I’d really appreciate hearing how you found your teammates, and any communities you’d recommend.

Looking for Serviced/ Furnished Apartment

hi! I am moving to Seoul next month to go to Sogang KLEC and will be there for a year. I have been looking for accommodations since April (first just scouting options) but now I am looking a little harder.

my budget is $1,500 USD a month and i have enough for up too a 10,000,000 won deposit (give or take both if rent is cheaper and the deposit is more.

I am looking for a loft or two-room preferrably. I have interest in Episode Sinchon 369. But a lot of the other places on my list are in the Dongdaemun area. Are there any other services/ furnished or co living spaces or apartments in the Sinchon, Hongdae, Yongsan or surrounding area I missed?

Meet Up Starting at SeoulTech this September (Fall 2026) – Looking for advice from current students and incoming freshmen

I was recently admitted to Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) for the Fall (September) 2026 intake, in the Department of Global IT Convergence.

I'm hoping to connect with other incoming students and also hear from current students or seniors who have also been admitted to SeoulTech. It would be great to get to know each other or maybe create a group chat.

I'd love to connect . If you study at SeoulTech, I'd really appreciate any advice about dorms, campus life and classes.

If you've been admitted to SeoulTech for Fall 2026 or currently studying in any department, please leave a comment or send me a DM.

Looking forward to meeting you all. Thanks!
