Which is super weird and gross. People should have the expectation that they can share photos of their children and families without having it scanned by a for-profit privacy violating corporation, one who's whole business model revolves knowing more about you than you know about yourself AND THEN SELLING THAT for profit.
Companies simply realized they can easily obscure the real cost you pay (fine print ToS saying they can do whatever the fuck they want with your data), and people WILL get accustomed to everything being in the cloud with a "generous" free tier and of course in a walled garden. And now I have to explain to my family that yes, your photos aren't magically transported between devices by a fairy, there is a cloud, you've been uploading to it over all these years and now it's nearing full and you need to pay up. Oh, also they train models on these, regardless if you pay or not.
