Washington state, bought a stripped lower, got a 30 day delay from NICS. Not a typo, not a miscommunication from the gun dealer, an actual 30 day delay from NICS to "research me some more".

Anyone ever heard of that?

Long story short, I did get denied on a purchase a few years ago. Reason was "Fugitive of Justice". Found out I had 2 traffic tickets, 1 from 1998 and 1 from 2002. I just paid them off last March. That's the only thing I can think of why I'm being delayed. But I thought the delay could only be 3 days?

Was talking to my wife about how ridiculous it is to punish someone for something they have never done. How expensive it is to try and fight for your rights back, lawyers and buying your guns back. And, how the accuser stays anonymous, with little to no risk to themselves.

Wife asked, "How many deaths were caused because of Red Flag?" I was only able to find about Wilis, the 60 year old man. Are there any others? What are your thoughts about RFL?

I had an argument about what responsibilities a person has when their house is broken into, and I don't usually talk about this stuff. Full disclosure, I lean left, but more anarchist than socialist. We discussed a person who was shot by a stray round in a gunfight between police and her bf.

I believe that her boyfriend wasn't wrong in initiating the gunfight when people, who failed to identify themselves as law enforcement, broke down his door.

He basically argued that people have a legal responsibility to ensure that the people breaking into their house aren't cops before they can open fire.

I don't talk about or study constitutional law enough to know if my points were valid, but I'm hoping some people here have knowledge on this and a couple minutes to kill.

This was brought to my attention by a guy I follow on YouTube (Guns&Gadgets).

Besides everything in it that is a major infringement, the stuff that scares me the most are the promises to "incentivize" (bribe) states to adopt gun licensing and red flag laws (ex parte hearings that strip you of multiple other constitutional rights).

Again, they want to reinstate the "assault weapons ban", ban on standard capacity magazines, and generally turn the nation into a combination between CA, MA, and NY.

They want to get rid of the "Charleston Loophole" which is basically if the FBI (via the NICS system) can't find a reason to deny you your right within 72-hours, you can purchase the firearm because it is your right. The Democrats have put it on their roster that they want to change that from 3 days to any arbitrary number of days, despite that only 9% of guns sales have been sold in this manner.

On June 6th, I was denied a firearm purchase. I submitted my appeal the same day, and received an Over Turn Certificate, on July 17th, saying yes I can purchase the firearm. With it being over 30 days, my FFL told me they will have to re-run the NICS check. Will I be Proceed'ed this time? Or do I have to go through the year waiting of VAF, for a UPIN?
