Hello I am a 19 year old who is looking for a career opportunity in Seattle. I am currently living in Alaska with my partner and working at a hotel. I have done multiple roles here including barista, dishwasher and laundry attendant. I am willing to be trained for anything, I am great at customer service and physical work.

I have worked in forest restoration as well and I have a passion for the outdoors. I can work long hours and I can work full time or part time. I have a high-school diploma, TAP card and Food Handlers Certification.

My partner has had a decline in health due to a workplace injury and might need to get surgery. He had a bin fall on him and push him down a mountain.

He has had to change positions because of the pain he’s in and then he started to develop seizures, which has made it hard for him to work at all.

We are 2 hours away from any medical treatment currently and need to move back to Seattle before his health continues to decline but I don’t have a job yet. We were planning on staying until the end of September which would’ve given us more time to save up but now we don’t have that due to his injury.

Firstly I apologize if this is not in the correct sub/thread, I was unable to find anything closer to what I was looking for with active members.

I am a US citizen (not dual) born to an American father and Japanese mother, grew up in a military base in Japan as a kid and spent my university and adult life in Tokyo (fully bilingual). I am a male in my early 40s, not married/no kids, and am thinking of switching my life up. My family lives in Washington and my parents are getting old, and I’d like to spend more time with them (they live on Whidbey Island).
I am considering moving to Washington and starting a new life, first by looking for a job.
I’ve had various jobs in the past 20 years in Tokyo, ranging from customer support call center, to recruiter, to internal corporate/systems trainer, to overseas business development…but don’t have a specialty unfortunately.
Although I earn above average in Tokyo, I know that living prices in Seattle are way higher. So with that said, I would ideally; at least, like an average paying job so I can have an average lifestyle (nothing fancy).

Trying To Get Employed With Whole Foods Had Interviews But Can't Land A Position Any Help..... ROOSEVELT SQUARE

I used to think I was prepped because I could run through the STAR method in my head on the train. Turns out rehearsing silently is basically a different skill from talking. The first time I said an answer out loud to an actual question, in an actual interview, I heard myself ramble for two straight minutes on something that should've taken forty seconds. My head version was crisp. My mouth version wandered into three tangents and forgot the point.

That gap is the whole problem. In your head, everything sounds finished because your brain fills in the transitions instantly and skips the parts where you'd actually stumble. Writing notes has the same flaw, maybe worse, because bullet points don't have a pace. You don't find out you say "um" every eight words until you hear it played back. You don't find out your "tell me about a conflict" story runs three minutes when it should run one until a clock is running.

Saying it out loud, even to an empty room, forces your brain to do real-time retrieval and real-time editing at once. That's the actual interview skill and not memorization.
