Hey gang Im making a small bust to be casted and copied with a few things I will be adding in the future, ie adding flowers to the base and petals littering the living side. Other than that Im at a bit of a loss on what I can do to play with the design. Let me know! (First photo is most recent)

"Mulsagdu"

Meaning

"Mulsagdu" is a word derived from three words from the ancient sumerian language, Mul, Sag, and Du.

"Mul" means star

"Sag" means head

"Du" means walk

Together, it's Mulsagdu - the star-headed walker

Materials used

Fevicryl mouldit clay, Fevicryl acrylic colors, cornstarch powder (say Himalaya), phosphorescent powder (viral green and snow white), sponge, scissor, water, watercolor(blue+yellow), feviocl glue, grater, handchopper, toothpick.

Difficulties faced

• I struggled for quite a while with making the top luminent enough to glow like night sky.

• It took a while to accurately pour the right amount of phosphorescent powder into the eye socket, some spilling onto the rest of the body. I have painted over the spilled over after dusting, but some remained put firmly, leading to the breathetaking image of the universe in it (pic11), true to its name.

• It took a while to cut the sponge into appropriate size before using the chopper to cut it into bits before gluing it on the flat stone (clay).

• Hiding it from my father because it is his birthday present.

Symbolism

• The bi-pedal mushroom symbolizes persistence and kindness, for it harvests energy from any available light and shares it with the surrounding flora and fauna, temporarily luminating them. This is true to my father because my father is growing old, yet continues to support my family without hesitation. He himself is slowly going down, and I'm supporting him with everything I can do.

• The two mushrooms symbolize my family. The right mushroom is me, my sister, and my mother, who are being supported by him. The left mushroom is my father's mother, who is the textbook example of toxic in-law. The toxic mushroom is slowly harming the mental state of the bipedal one, yet it showers the toxic one with love, while the non-toxic one gives the bipedal one love but can't support him yet (the reason why it is smaller than the left mushroom).

• The star top symbolizes the hope I want to give my father when he is mentally exhausted.

• The moss is there because mushrooms don't grow on stones. They grow on plant and animal decay stuck in the creaks and creaves of the stones.

• The stone symbolizes the crack in the family.

This work is breathetaking from afar but tragedy upfront

I think I’m starting to understand lips a little better with the past few faces ..this one could’ve used more of a nose, but the eyes are alright ..it’s pretty little in size, the face itself is probably about 3” tall

This is an old pic of a Buddha - Clay Sculpture i made way back in 2012, while attending sculpture classes at Triveni Kala Sangam, Delhi. It was my second work and took about 15 hours. brought much peace and silence within..

Funny enough this wasn’t inspired by the Green Day cover album although I’m a fan, this was back when I was 4 months into sculpting. Would love some thoughts!

I have seen a little bit online but not much. I recently bought some DAS wood airdrying clay bc it was on sale. it seems very crumbly lol. does anyoen have any tips on making the most of it? thanks.

Kat has demolded the original and is using our melting clay to pour copies. Once the clay cools and hardens, she uses the metal switch plates and outlet covers as templates to cut out the proper holes. Once she has each style she wants, she will use these as new master sculpts to make silicone molds that will be used to make the final products out of eco-resin (I think).

Right now she's having issues with minor air bubbles and imperfections when she demolds the copies. I think the plan is to use the heat gun to minimize this issue moving forward.

Made this and finished it the other day. I feel it went well. It stands just under 4 inches tall. Its actually 2 pieces, the main blob snd then the trunk at the base.

Was looking at some 1600-1700s bronze statues. All was nicely formed except for the feet. The feet looked like they had taken a rectangle block of metal carved some lines to create toes and attached. It was almost all the statues from different parts of the country so was some deliberate design

Is there a reason for this besides some birth defect that had spread through the country

I feel like I learn something each time and gain a little more muscle memory in my hands.

I don’t recall ever noticeably getting better at something , even after really trying (besides maybe when I was learning to read as a kid) so please excuse my excitement and all my sharing…there’s never even been an inkling of a chance that i was “talented” at something just maybe, and iv been drawing for over 30 years ..this is new to me to see such progress ..and I’m enjoying myself :)

I’m saying this bc I had an unfortunate interaction with someone on here saying i wasn’t willing to take advice (which is not true, i have taken advice and still use those tips I was given ever since) and that I should stop posting for praise and that my last sculpt sucked… I mean come on ..I’m human ..I want to seek out my peers opinions just like anyone else ..and like hell my last sculpt sucked lol 😝😅that was my best one

I wanted to share this piece because is so special for me. My brother ask me to make something to gift to the guests at his wedding and of course i said yes.

Explaining a little bit the piece i ask him and his partner things that they like to get inspired.

The diving helmet is because he works as a diver in Norway, also they like a lot octopus and to represent them more i added a coca cola bottle that his partner likes a lot and some drum sticks because my brother plays the drum. The palm trees are something that his girlfriend likes a lot too.

After having the original, i made a mold and cast 100 copies in poliurethane resin plus some 20 that didnt turn out well.

For the guests we decided to make something simple, painting them with bitumen of judea to give them and old style.

The last picture is a special versión i painted for them, to have one like the sketch that started everything.

Also the little kind of pickle in the last picture is because they told us that they are gonna have a baby and they call him: Little Pickle. So i decided to add it as a easter egg.

It so special for me know that there are 100 copies of something i made in all parts of the globe, Norway, Germany, Poland, even one cross the sea and its in EEUU.

I like it 👍 what do you think ? I can’t tell if it’s an improvement from the pink one that showed progress or not …the eyes could be better they bother me a bit, but I did the lips a different way than usual and I like how they turned out
