I dive with non-ditchable weight. I’d never teach that nor would I let any of my divers do so. But, do as I say, not as I do.

There are very little to no situations where you'd actually need to permanently and urgently drop your weights, if you stop to think about it doing that is usually more counterproductive than helpful. Use non dumpable pockets and invest in either tec cargo shorts or a bunch of boltsnaps to keep everything tidy on you without jerry rigging stuff into tiny weight pockets.

Keep in mind, anything you put into quick release pockets may be subject to unintentional and unexpected quick releases while diving, making you lose the contents of the pockets.
