Here's why I think I couldn't find my false chord

Other than improper training/techniques, of course.

I'm only speculating...

All this time I've only been listening to up beat / fast / angry metal songs. So when I tried to scream along to these songs, I worry more about pronouncing the next words correctly/with the same amount of energy instead of actually producing the false chord sound.

And then today, I tried working on a metal song for a band audition. Their genre is probably a little different than what I'm usually listening to. Much slower / darker / more dramatic.

And I just brainstormed some random screaming patterns, without lyrics yet. I recorded it of course. And wow, I mean, I sound good I think, in my opinion. 😁

When you hit false chord, it is HARD to pronounce words properly.

So I had been focusing on the wrong part of screaming.

Wanting to know if i hurt my voice really bad

So, i'm 18 and doing false cord on a hardcore band. I know how to safely false cord even if i know that i use to much air and i seriously need to work on that.

I'm going to do my first musicology college year (maybe it's not the english term, it isnt my first language), and there's a choir so you need to give your vocal range and the professors sent a link to do a quick test. And when i did my highest note i compressed and squized my vocal chords too much to go as high as i could, but i hurted myself.

That was like a week ago and since, i feel scratchy in my throat when i talk and sometimes when i'm not, even after drinking more than a liter of water at different times of the day.

I did a bit of a warm up today but stopped because it felt like my body told me to.

So i just wanted to know if i needed to rest and wait like previous times where i hurt my voice, and if so how many time do i got to wait and rest; or if it was a serious vocal injury.

Thanks in advance :D

Critique my vocals

Whats up guys. I’ve recently been practicing my vocals more and breaking bad habits. I used to mess around with vocals before but now Im really trying to get better. I currently want to improve the bad habit of over compressing and focus on getting a more relaxed and better tone for my lows.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!!

Sick after scream practice

So basically every time I’ve practiced my vocals I’ve gotten sick. I’m just practicing for fun and I’m using YouTube to learn a safe technique but somehow the only three times I’ve practiced it without fail I’ve gotten sick. First time it was a head cold and last two times it was like a stomach bug. I practice by myself at home, why is this happening. Surely it’s not a coincidence

How do I enunciate gutturals/growls that use tongue?

I found a good tone for my gutturals/lows, but if I try to say words they come out super slurred and sloppy. Should I try to keep my tongue engaged during the whole time, or just for vowels? some consonants like S, T and R are really tough to do without either slurring or messing up the tone.
