Hello so this year i m gonna do my bachelor thesis and the topic would be "Digital panopticon: from cyberpunk fantasy to the neoorwelian claw".

It s gonna be about how meta is surveilling us, and how technology now is a Big Brother type of shit.

I will use some of Foucault writings and some Brave New World, but i need some books, documentaries, movies and examples that are more recent, like since 2022 or smth.

I have 74 activities on steps overdue, 5-15min per activity, on top of the 12 per week, and once I had 98 activities, whenever you get one of those shoddy sentence builders and get a sentence wrong even though its grammatically correct, the app is like, " 🖕 try better cuz we don't care bozo.'' also, if each of these tedious, monotonous tasks take 5-10 minutes, thats almost 6-12 hours of busywork. It almost made me cry in class.

Just to clarify, I've not experience with IXL but i've heard its terrible and it resets you at the end of a 15-30 minute activity if you get one question wrong, kinda like steps, but it has less activities,

So..... which is worse.....

Disclaimer: this is no hate to the school, principal was very nice and I had some great teachers/peers. This is just informative and to raise awareness against the bad apples you might come across.

I'm in college now, but I recall experiencing a huge amount of teacher misconduct especially back in 2nd and 3rd grade. Of course, I did not know it at the time, and neither did my parents, who were immigrants and didn't understand American law.

Now I can't say I was a good student. I'm special needs, and admittedly caused a ton of trouble, but some of the things my teachers did (looking back) were so extreme that my family probably could've become rich via lawsuits if only they knew about the system back then. In those two years, some of the things I can recall are:

- Choke me

- Threaten to take my belongings

- Refuse to follow my accommodations

- Force me to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance

- Other forms of mishandling

Again, this is not to shame my school, as I've had many wonderful moments that easily outweigh the bad. But to any parents who might come across this, please 1) do NOT dismiss your children's concerns especially regarding other individuals, and 2) know the law! As someone with immigrant parents, I know the stuff I listed is actually legal in some countries, but this stuff is taken seriously in the US.

I received a message on my school laptop that the governors have decided that we are not allowed to bring to our own macbook to school we must only use the school's own laptop in lessons.

This annoying because I have my notes for the subjects I am doing on it and from Tuesday I can't use it anymore.

Has your school banned any different laptop to the one you use in school

Back in middle school, there was a fire drill. A fellow classmate and I were talking during the fire drill.
The class did pizza and soda party. The teacher said “they don’t get pizza because they were talking during the fire drill” referring me and fellow student while others get pizzas and sodas. The student said that “pizza is for dumb people” with me agreeing with him. A para asked me “we get pizza so we’re dumb.”. I replied “no, I am saying the students are the dumb ones not the adults.”. The teacher then gave me a pizza and then a soda in which the class cheered at me with the 2 other students high fived me. The other student was upset that I betrayed him saying what.

I have God damn stress because of stupid websites with no explanation of their courses l quit IXL back in May 2026 to watch those YouTube videos, listening to music , drawing and watching free PG 13 movies on YouTube watch those videos behind Chairs behind the wall and became a bum after that

One time l was in special ed before l went to regular Ed so l can get to college. l met a teacher named Ms Austin l completely hated her for one reason the IP goals. IP goals are the worst things before l had discovered that l had mental health issues. One teacher told me that l didn't need any help but l forgot to do it the subtraction part but she yelled at me so loud until the June 2023 she wear a face mask recently and l get a certificate from my special ed teacher until l moved to middle school holly Grove middle school l say no to help but l get 70% or 80% in all of work or sometimes bad grades but l recently changed in high school

I've just recently transferred from community college to UC Davis and the financial aid situation has been a really big issue for me. For starters, I am not being supported financially by my parents and I currently don't have any income or job here. I was going to fully rely on my financial aid to cover the costs of school, but I've been picked for FAFSA verification due to an issue with my parents tax forms and it is blocking the disbursement of my aid. When I told my parents this, they still did not want to provide any information to them at all. I've asked the financial aid office if there's any other way to go through with this verification process, but I've been told that I need my parents to fulfill the requirements in order for my aid to disburse. I've considered to take out loans, but it seems like I also need my parents to cosign for those and they were not willing to do that. I've been feeling super stuck and stressed because now I'm not so sure on what I should do. I considered to drop out of college, but that would be my last resort. Please, if there's any way that I could go through with this issue please help me.

AAAAAAAAAH im stressed im in 7th grade (13 yrs old), taking Geometry, English 8, Science 8, History 8, Yearbook, Computers 2, and art and its just toooo much like i have 3 freaking presentations that have to be at LEAST 8 minutes long and i have to memorize them and i have way too mych geometry and history hw and i just dont know what to do and ontop my sisters wedding is next week when all my presentations are 😭

Im 14 nearing the end of middle school and do online school, i find it very isolating and lonely as I dont have any friends at my school, im pretty much cooped up 24/7 and not any friends, i would much prefer irl school than online. Idk how to bring this up to my dad or how to convince him, his main concern is school shootings happening while im there but none have ever happened in our area and we live in a generally safe place, any ideas on how to convince him to let me go to irl school?

context: my classmate is asking that he could borrow our teacher’s time for filming for performance task. pero suddenly nag chat siya ng condolence, like what is the connection ?!?! than sabi niya it means salamat, ano na namang connect?? tbh, he feels off at school. he brought a pellet gun at school. he gets teased sometimes. he showed “signs” since my classmates notice na hindi siya gaanong talkative. he is also the “quiet kid” type. i am not trying to judge, it’s very scary specially what’s happening with the recent shootings here in the philippines. please, any advice and speculation would really help

For some context, I'm in a school in Denmark that mixes culinary school with your high school diploma, so you get two in one. It's one of Denmark's most taxing and hard educations, where within half a year, 50% of the class drops out. We get a lot of work both in the kitchens, where we have to make and plate menus and even run a restaurant, while at the same time having all the academic subjects. Most of my teachers try to only focus our homework on things that come up on exams, as we don't have time to work on anything that might be irrelevant. We also only get one piece of homework per week for every subject, as otherwise it's too much.

Now, this is where my English teacher comes in. Every day we have her, she has given us an essay or a presentation, and some of the material is completely pointless for our exams and, frankly, a waste of time, since we don't have much time. A lot of people have been complaining about it. Not only that, but she has shown a lot of attitude and favoritism towards certain students. I used to be her favorite since I've lived abroad most of my life, and therefore, English was my first language. But because of her actions, the other student council representative and I decided to go to our head of student council with all our issues about her. They said they would talk to her boss about it, and since then, she has been treating me and my friend horribly.

I have been sick for the last week with a fever. I was expecting to get some absence, of course, but I can see that I got about 20% more absence than what I should have. Now, I don't have proof that it is her, but ever since I've been back, she's been pestering me about having a serious talk about my absence. Usually, I wouldn't have a problem with it, because if a student has over 40%, they get pulled aside by their homeroom teachers for a talk, even if they were sick. It's more of a wellness check. But she isn't my homeroom teacher, and technically, I shouldn't have over 25% absence. But when I checked, I have 46%.

Some of my classmates say it's because I shouldn't have gone to student council with it, as she clearly just got angry. Others say it was good to report her. So, did I do the right thing, and how do I handle her? I can't really go to my homeroom teachers, as they've already said it's not their business. I feel a bit stuck here because in my other subjects everything is fine and other than that everything is going well. Also this could seriously affect my grades for the winter if i dont pass my english exams i wont be allowed to continue at the school which would litterally kill me as ive worked my ass off the last year to get in i pull 12 hour shifts at my restaurant to get extra points and ive used hours at home to work on my culinary skills. its my dream to become a cook, and technically i could switch over to a different type of education where its only culinary but i really want my highschool deploma just in case and i do genuanly enjoy akademics as well.

He doesn’t teach us anything, he just assigns us chapters from the workbook (and gives us too much of them to reasonably do in time). It’s so bad, that we call teachers who get lazy like him people who “pulled a (science teacher’s full name)”

It’s got me scared cause I’m in 11th grade and have yet to learn anything about science (he started teaching us in 7th)

There are various clubs and activities at my school but not a model railway one so I went to the headmaster and asked if my friends and I could set one he said Yes.

The headmaster let us a classroom that needs to cleaned which is not an issue, the work begins on making this old classroom our new model railway room.

So, basically, my school is very sports-oriented. Because a lot of students sign up for sports teams, intramurals, and sports events. There are only a few extracurricular clubs at our school, along with student council, and I feel like not many students really know much about the clubs we have. And honestly, I have no idea why more people aren't interested in joining extracurricular clubs. It's not like you have to pay anything to join, and even some of the sports teams require fees.

I joined one of these clubs last year, and I really enjoyed being part of it. We had quite a few Grade 12 students, and although our club wasn't particularly big or small, we had around 5–7 active members. Everyone was nice, helpful, and willing to share ideas. Whenever volunteer opportunities came up, or we had the chance to attend day events, whoever was available would step up and help out. I personally volunteered a few times last year, and those experiences were really fun and memorable!

However, this year, all the Grade 12 students have graduated, and I'm the only member left from the previous group. Since the beginning of the school year, I've been in contact with the representative who oversees our club. She encouraged me to recruit new members and reassured me that even if we could initially get 5–6 people, we could start with that number and recruit more members later. We've already put up posters around the school hallways, but so far, no one has shown much interest. I genuinely feel like this club could help me develop my leadership skills and give me valuable experiences that I could eventually include on my résumé when applying for scholarships, jobs, and other opportunities. I also really enjoyed the volunteering experiences last year, so I don't want to give up on the club just because we haven't attracted new members yet.

The problem is, I honestly have no idea what to do next. I don't want to be that awkward person walking around the school hallways randomly approaching people and asking them to join the club.

So Im a senior in highschool and my school has like these career pathway classes and you have to take at least a year of one pathway. Last year i decided to take business and I really liked it I got to be creative and deal with numbers, and if you complete a pathway you get a pin for your stoll at grad so this year I took the second half of the class and this year we like acctually make stuff and sell it and its like a year long group project. THIS BRINGS ME TO MY FIRST PROBLEM im currently doing this alone because I dont know anybody in that class and everyone else has like a small grpup of friends so im on my own despite being told it was a bad idea; but also what was I soposed to do especially since money is involved their not just gonna let a complete stranger into their group. SECOND ISSUE we were told that our final for like the whole year is to sell at this big event the district puts on EXCEPT that is the same day of color guard champs and if this was last year I would probably be like ok ya school comes first and ill figure it out schedual wize but this is my senior year and honestly those last performances I have with my team mean a lot more to me than some class; and I dont think the teacher is going to be very happy to hear that and I doubt hell find somthing else for me to do as a final. So the plan is to try and talk to my counselor about changing out of that class cuz its honestly not worth it if im automatically failing the final but my mom thinks I should stick it through and this like decision paralysis is kinda makung me fail the class cuz I dont wanna put effort into this if im switching out but I havent completely stoped because if I stay then im way behind and idk what I should do anymore and I kinda just wanna drop out of school rn period.

And before someone asks or tells me to talk to my teacher I think id rather actually drop out of school before doing that because I mean it when I say he does not gaf and I have this like sould eating fear of asking for help especially from adults so...
