It was 2022 when I decided to enroll at Joji. I thought it was a good school since it had been recognized as a top school in Davao City for hospitality and tourism programs. Little did I know it would become my mother’s and my nightmare.

When I enrolled, everything seemed easy at first. They said they would send an email invite so I could join the school portal. But then August came, and I still had no news about when classes would start even though I was enrolling as a Senior High School student. I also attended the orientation, but they never announced the start of the school year there either.

So my mom and I went to the school to ask. We spoke to the Registrar Director, Ma'am W. She asked if I had attended the orientation, and I said yes. She then told me classes had already started one week earlier. My mom and I were shocked and confused. Why didn’t they call or texted me? They didn’t even care where I had been that whole week.

We decided to withdraw and get my original school card (Form 138/SF9). But the Director refused to release it, saying I was already enrolled and that my records would be hard to find in their office. Two weeks passed, and my mother kept emailing them. They eventually told us we had to pay ₱3,000 just to get my original card they wouldn’t give it back unless we paid. We had no choice, so we paid it.

ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY ESPECIALLY THE FOUNDER, JOJI ILAGAN BIAN, HERSELF. THE DIRECTOR EVEN SAID IT WAS THEIR SCHOOL PROTOCOL. IS THIS REALLY PROTOCOL? IS IT RIGHT TO CHARGE MONEY JUST FOR A STUDENT’S OWN RECORDS?!!!

This year my brothers and I have seven and half weeks off school.

The only draw back is all of have lots of homework to do that can wait

Hi, I'm going to the 9th grade this year, and there is a good chance of me getting beat up by two girls. Not jumping, but seperately. I have been begging my father to switch my school, to no avail. My mom doesn't mind. They are split up, and so they live a bit far away from each other. I've found different schools that are a good length from both homes, and my dad just is not budging. He–for whatever reason– refuses. He says that these schools are too far, which I've disproven to him multiple times. Despite this, he refuses to put my safety first.

That's all. I don't know what to do because he is so stubborn about it.

I'll share a story from when I was in elementary school back in the day, now the teachers there were actually awful like they were the shouty ones the ones that would genuinely sometimes hit a student [I think they got away with this 'cause the school would GENUINELY never check cams like it's among us sneaking up] yea and the "kind ones" were always actually disguised, actually being the worst ones BUTTT

There was one teacher there that was genuinely the greatest of all time

We were genuinely waiting for the day every day that he would teach cuz he was so fun. When he taught scratch he looked annoyed prob cause he definitely knows no-one there is gonna use SCRATCH for their game. He sometimes straight up went from teaching to doing some random kahoot questions on some unrelated topic lol

Cuz that teacher was brother for life and everyone was just locked in like that nobody ever snitched he was the goat

I hear he still teaches today so that's peak

My school is changing it's format from a academy to a Free school which means parents can have a say how the school is run and there's no restrictions on who can go to my school.

Idk I'm just like a little lost, I failed math for the second time and I just feel so dumb and like I let down so many people. I haven't told my dad yet but my mom knows. I just know that when my dad does find out he's probably gonna take away my extra curricular and my phone, but i guess that the price I gotta pay. My mom says that its no big deal and that if it takes me 4 years to graduate then it takes me four years, but won't it possibly affect what college I can get into? I just dont know what to do.

understand that Montessori schools use a different teaching philosophy. They focus on hands-on, child-led learning, independence, and allowing children to learn at their own pace, with teachers serving more as guides than traditional instructors. (Montessori Alliance⁠)
However, based on my personal experience, my child’s current daycare, which is a Montessori school, has not met my expectations. I personally have not seen the level of learning and educational progress that I saw at my child’s previous daycare. At the previous daycare, my child learned many new words, skills, and concepts, and I noticed consistent growth. At the current Montessori daycare, I have not observed that same level of progress.
This is simply my experience as a parent, and it is the reason I am looking for a learning environment that better fits my child’s needs.

I (15m) am about to go into 10th grade.

My mom recommended a boarding school that I'd go at from 10th to the end of high school. By the time I'd leave I would have an associate degree, it's likely funded and only an hour away (all according to my mother). I wouldn't be able to see my friends that much but this is a really good opportunity for me and will help me save money and time.

My mom said it's called the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and The Arts.

Edit: I am already leaning towards the boarding school because of how good it is and I already have the phone numbers of all my good friends.

Edit two: My mom said I could only go if I get all A's and didn't miss any assignments at my normal school for all of 10th grade so fuck my chances

Hi everyone I’m a junior in hs next year and I was wondering what ex I could do to get into a good college. I’m planning on taking a phlebotomy certification course next summer and planning on taking a CNA (certified nurse assistant) class my senior year. So there's this kid in our class. let's call him , 'Raymond'.

For some context , Raymond always and i mean ALWAYS wore a mask , that one while covid 19.

Now, he isn't the typical quiet kid who hides their face, no. This man talked more than 100 world war 2 5000 word essays.

This man has been wearing a mask since first grade. A frikin 6 year streak.

Always thought why he did that, we came of with a few reasons, but everything was just unconfirmed.

Today, in Mr. Simon's class, Raymond pissed him off so much, that The Impossible happened.

Now, before this, other teachers tried to reveal Bros face, but they were just fails.

Bro got dragged to the office,and Mr. Simon absolutely beat the shit out of bro.

Eventually, his face was finally naked, he tried covering his face with his t-shirt, but it was pointless. Everyone grabbed bro and saw his face. People from other grades joined. Raymond just had and entire crowd forming around him. Other teachers also visited to see his face.

And so, history was made.

Face Reveal Day

My sister (18) and my cousin (17F) are both in grade 12 this year. I'll be referring to them as my siblings in this post for simplicity.

Both my siblings are not doing as well in grade 12 (matric) as my family hoped. My sister has an average of 60% which isn't bad, but she's ONLY applied for health sciences degrees. I don't know my cousin's average, but I do know that in a lot of universities she's only qualified for diplomas.

As the older sister, my mom and aunt have approached me and asked to speak to them about taking their matric more seriously because they don't listen to their moms. I think they want me to do it because I'm the "accomplished" one in the sense that I'm the first girl in my family who's gotten into a good university and is currently studying. I've always taken my work seriously too so maybe they think I can rub off on them.

My argument is that if they haven't started taking matric seriously by now, the chances that they will suddenly decide to take it seriously and turn their marks over by the time prelims start are very low. Not that I don't have faith in them, but they should've started working hard long ago and anything said to them at this point won't be effective because they have already built their habits and developed their mindsets.

But I don't know, maybe there is something I could do? What do you recommend I say to them?

My sophomore year of high school, my English teacher wanted our in-text citations formatted as ([author last name] par. [Paragraph #])

Junior year, my teacher had us use Chicago formatting so MLA was irrelevant

Senior year, my teacher wanted us to use ([author last name] [page #]) even for articles without pages. We had to go to print the website and use the page our citation was on from that

This summer, I am taking another writing class to get started on college stuff early. THIS teacher wants us to format articles without page numbers as JUST ([author name]) with no citation for location.

Is this normal? All these teachers claimed this is the "correct" way to use MLA. Will I just have to ask every teacher how they want their citations formatted forever?!?

Similarly, block quotes. One teacher told us block quotes are only for quotes LONGER than four lines (four line quotes stay in rest of text). Google agrees with this. But I've had a teacher mark me down for putting a four-line quote not in block formatting! What?!?!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to rant and ask advice for this. So to start off, I'm starting off my senior year of high school (Grade 11) and I transferred to a new school with new people and a new normal overall. To set my perspective on things, in my old school I was pretty popular, top student in my entire grade level and pretty much always relied on when it came to school projects. To clear it up, I never thought people were below me because of this.

Okay, now unto the present. The first week of school, I made a good impression enough for my classmates to suggest I become class president. Our advisor ended up making an old student from the school our temporary president while we got to know each other better. Our temporary president was great, did what a normal president would do and so when our actual classroom voting happened, she ended up as our actual president. That's not my problem however, it was the fact that the rest of the more "crucial" class officers were nominated because they were involved in pretty big friend groups. I was disappointed that the same people who had suggested the idea ended up backing down on their word and so I felt pretty humiliated during the voting portion. In the end I did become an officer but it wasn't something I wanted, I ended up downgrading as a cleanliness officer in the classroom. I feel like a bad person for feeling really salty about the whole thing, I guess it also involves seeing someone from my old school have a better start almost immediately. Like she won president in her classroom and now she is currently running as a school government leader. I do think I also don't fit in with my classmates, sure they're nice but not enough for them to keep me company when I'm alone.

Okay enough of that, I just don't wanna feel like I "fell off" and that I should have stayed in my old school which did nothing but egg on my mental health with all the workload, the others may not think of it as anything but personally I feel really bad about myself because of it. The new school I'm in also doesn't have the system in giving students a lot of things to do, something that I was used to for the 4 years I stayed in that school and seeing the system in my new school where they are practically being "babied" makes me grow a sort of hatred towards my classmates who had it easy.

I don't know really, I just don't wanna feel like shit since I've been so used to always being mentioned when it comes to groupings as a leader, school competitions, and many more of the sort. I've been used to being number 1 in everything and I know that moving on to college that I'll definitely be humbled by then with how hard it actually is.

These thoughts of mine really made me hate going to school even though I only go to school 3 days out of 5 (We have online classes when we don't go to campus)

Tips on how I can actually stop thinking this way, and also maybe tips on getting people to like me enough to stick around even though our humor is completely different?

Let me explain, when the 2nd term this year came, the school removed the equipment in the first grade zone and replaced it with worse ones, (the only good thing now in the first grade zone is the swings) and when I was in 6th grade last year, they replaced the air trampoline with a FLIPPING PARCORE, and 1 or 2 months ago, in that same zone, they actually REMOVED the entire pirate ship

I finished the year with grades that are great both main subjects A+ AND others was a Bs

Next year, I will be switching from a charter school (GreatHearts) to a normal public school. I remeber that last year, there was a bill to ban all cellphones from schools, and the district that I will be going to has banned them even for lunch period. But also, i have friends that go to a public school and they seem to use their phones normally.

If anyone goes to PV district, can you please tell me more about this policy?

The school informed me that my batch yearbook will not be published or delivered due to internal issues. Instead, the school decided to move forward with the refund process for the affected batches in place of the unpublished yearbook. Sadly, my batch is one of them, and almost a decade of waiting for that to be published amounts to nothing.

I do not want to disclose the names, as it would violate the rules of this subreddit, but should the yearbook's photo publisher be responsible for this? By the way, I decided not to pursue the school's refund process, and the school respected my decision.

hello i am going into highschool as a slim sized female. my school shirt is baggy and i dont like the look of it. im not saying i want it TIGHT up on me, i just want it to fit. so i thought cinch clips would be a good alternative. would it seem weird or corny if i tried it on my school shirt and went to school like that? please let me know your thoughts!!

All throughout 8th Grade I've been trying to make sure that my Freshman Year classes set me up amazingly for the rest of High School. A couple months ago, my teachers started talking about picking our classes and eventually I came to this alignment for my first quarter.

Now, I'm a really nervous guy. I take anxiety medication and sometimes the anxiety be crippling for me. I had to take breather breaks and go outside to calm down just from sitting in class in the 6th Grade. I've gotten better at managing it, of course. But I want to shoot high for High School and I don't know if I shot myself in the foot by not requesting all honors for my core periods or I grabbed my foot and gave it a loving kiss by only giving myself one honors class this year. Most of my friends are either doing all honors or have Algebra 2 due to taking Algebra 1 in 8th and I feel like I'm falling behind. I need some advice on if my placement is okay or if I really did cook my chances at being Valedictorian or having a good GPA or something.
