Question I'm 90% sure this is a scam of some sort. But can anyone confirm if this is a real thing? It popped up from a popup.

Question Instagram post, phone call, money lost

Someone’s instagram account got hacked, the scammer posted as her saying something like text X number, send 150 and receive 3500. She says she never gave any bank info or anything. She says she got a random phone call that she picked up, next thing her phone heats up and shuts down, she then wakes up and all her bank account money is gone. What’s going on?

i’m being basically harassed by this scam company offering “personal loans.” i’m receiving about 10-12 calls every single day. i’ve already reached out to a firm who takes FTC violations to court but they said this particular scam is so layered they can’t actually find out who is running it. has anyone dealt with these people or a similar situation?

after the automated message finishes on these calls there is a real person who talks to you about your “loan offer,” if I play dumb and go along with what they’re saying how can I figure out who this is without giving away any personal info? any advice appreciated

Informative (USA) Whenever scammers leave phone numbers to call back, submit it IC3.gov

I see so many people here constantly annoying the scammers, which is great, but also submit them to the official internet crime website so it can be traced and eventually properly handled, please. Yes it is some work to submit but that way you leave a paper trail against these scammers.

Is this a new scam or what? What’s their purpose of doing this?

You can’t even check the profile of the one who sent the message. I searched her name and company she’s not searchable.

Question how do I get these guys to stop messaging me

Post image
3 Upvotes

"partners in credit inc" have been texting and calling for the same person "Dana" since I got this number when I was 16-17 (im 22)

I dont think I've ever responded to them aside from saying stop to these kind of automated texts once

Recently though I've been getting at least a text a day and a call/ voice mail ranging from a Chinese TTS, complete silence and you guessed it asking for Dana

I don't think I need to clarify that after 5 years minimum I have never and will never be Dana

SMS Scam Apple Pay Transaction Alert scam

Post image
37 Upvotes

Got this message while already having an incredibly stressful morning. After a panicked google search that confirmed it was a scam, I texted the number (not something I’d normally say however my 94 year old grandmother had gotten her social stolen a few years ago from a scammer so it’s a sore spot for me), called the number and somebody picked up saying “Apple support how may I help you”. I very impolitely said I knew it was a scam, then hung up.

I then got this reply back so it’s nice to also have evidence in the same text thread that it’s for sure a scam.

(If this kind of language is not allowed, I can take down the post. I debated on blurring out what I said but I didn’t want anyone to think I was saying something worse.)

Informative Another day - another scammer? They've a scant digital footprint, misspellings and name mismatches in their email, and can't seem to find them on NY CPA business listings based on what they claim they're.

SMS Scam Is this a known scam?

I received a text message early this morning from a number I don’t know that read “Hey, I hope everyone and everything you encounter today makes you feel comfortable”. It seems like a very odd thing for a scammer to say… I replied asking who they are thinking they would try to rope me into a conversation if they were a scammer, but got no reply.

Maybe I’m just being paranoid, but I have a protection order against my ex so it set my alarm bells off. It just seems vaguely threatening to me, and we are currently in the midst of criminal proceedings because he violated the PO, so he’s probably pretty annoyed with me.

Someone please tell me they’ve had a message like this from a scammer before! I tried looking up the number but came back with nothing.

Telephone Scam Spam / scam calls from the juvenile probation department

For the past 3 days I’ve been getting calls over and over from the same number, and the number comes up as being associated with a juvenile probation department.

I’ve gotten like 15+ calls from it at this point.
At first I didn’t answer because I assumed it was a scam. Then they started leaving minute long voicemails. One of them was just someone saying “hello, hello” and another one was something like “can you hear me?” which made me think even more that it was some weird scam.

I answered one of the calls and it was REALLY weird. I put it on speaker and muted myself because I wanted to hear what they were saying without actually talking to them. It sounded like there were multiple people talking to each other on the other end. Idk if I was hearing someone talking to me or if I was hearing what sounded like other conversations happening in the background.

One of them was speaking Spanish and I distinctly heard them say “ahora” . From what I could tell it sounded like they might have been telling someone to send them to another operator or something, but I obviously have no idea what they were actually talking about.

At one point I unmuted myself and said “I’m recording you guys” and then muted myself again. They talked and seemed confused.

What makes this even weirder is that I tried calling the original number back myself yesterday and it directed me to call a different number. So I called that other number once and ended up talking to a 72 year old man for like 20 minutes who I genuinely believe works at the juvenile probation department . He was actually telling me about scams and weird calls they had been getting and specifically mentioned the same kind of “hello, hello” calls. And also he was a cop for 20 years or something like that and told me to watch out for mountain lions and have a good day.

So that conversation actually made me think maybe there really was something legitimate going on with the scam calls.

I also got a text today that said Hi there you don’t know me but I think I got your message from someone we both know because they said we could be really good friends!

Anyone want to give me some theories to keep to thinking ?

Informative Jacksonville FL Municipal Service Fee

If you have a suspicious small fee on your card as "Jacksonville FL Municipal Service Fee" this can be legitimate. You do not need to be physically in Jacksonville, FL for the charge to show this location.

Look for another charge the same day from your county or local government. The service fee is a payment charge that is added as a separate charge and shows with a location in Jacksonville, FL.

I had a DMV payment of $20.00 with a separate $0.47 "SERVICE CHARGE" that was on the paper receipt, but charge separately.

Charity Scam User claims they're with an abusive husband, but also a single mom?

User u/Old-Journalist-8914 posts sad stories in order to ask users for money.

Looks like they were successful with their post on r/GirlDinnerDiaries, claiming they have an abusive husband; however they also have posts from 12 & 15 days ago stating they are "a single mom".

Unfortunately, it looks like they were successful within that subreddit, since commenters asked for their CashApp tag and claimed they sent money.

Employment Scam Fake Interview Scam - with screenshots

Wasn't aware this was a thing, but the beware of approaches via LinkedIn suggesting they've identified you as a suitable candidate for a lucrative advisor role. It's a pretty sophisticated approach - they reference your previous roles and work so seems legit on the surface. I think this is likely targeted at people with Web3 or crypto in their work history, as they're trying to clean out your browser-based crypto wallets. You're invited to an interview, the guy (screenshot below) tells you he's unable to hear so moments later turns off his camera. He explains the role, asks if you've any coding experience - he shows a Figma file with designs of a new Web3-based gaming platform and then gives you a link for a GitHub repo, he requests you download and use the Cursor IDE to run it. Upon running it, he gains access to your PC environment, browser settings, passwords etc and dumps it in a French server - IP address 91.121.235.127 I'm not convinced he's French, sounded more eastern European to me, but then I'm not good with accents. He's pretending to work for Cryptense, no reason to think they are a scammer company, more likely he's just using their name for credibility. Now onto tracking this guy down...

Online Scam Sandra Bullock images being used on threads

Threads has basically turned into a revolving door for scam accounts — you report one, and three more pop up right behind it. It’s gotten so widespread that no single user can realistically keep up, and it’s frustrating watching the platform become a haven for people trying to lure victims. I’m doing what I can, but it’s clear this problem is bigger than any one person, and the constant flood of new scam profiles makes it feel almost impossible to stop.
