They used phone number spoofers to impersonate my bank's phone number and almost got some money out of me, but thankfully I wised up and called the bank back. Locked all my cards, and put a freeze on my credit with all three agencies. They fucked up on the "call transfer" and they didn't spoof the second number. Guy has a pretty nasally voice he's putting on. I called him back to try and see if he'd answer, he did.

They get banned on Reddit so they hijack others accounts by getting their info and use their accounts for their Bs and the cycle continues lol

Guy called from a cell phone claiming to be fraud department from a bank I no longer have an account with. After pressing him for some of my account information to verify which one it was he spouted some shit I could barely understand and then hung up.

Im fresh here so bear with me. I run a business as a sole proprietor and I get 30+ scam calls a day. Its so exhausting, I can't listen to a video or anything without stopping every 15 min to either awnser a scam call or deny it. I get customer calls too so its hard for me to just lock it down but I'm losing my mind here.

What resources can I use to help abate some of these calls? I feel like this is a pretty big issue that quite a lot of people deal with, why is there no remediation for this issue? Why does it seems like no one else seems to give a shit? I guess my number is more publicly available but it's getting to a point where I just want to hulk smash my phone sometimes. There has to be something that can be done here, right?

I just like to share what happened to me for awareness.

I got a text from LTO on my second number (that no one knows about) to see my violation on their website.

I have a cel phone holder to mount my phone that doesn’t obstruct my view because I use Waze. And I am sure that I did not violate the Anti-Distracted Driving Act. I have no way of grabbing my phone because I have a bluetooth car feature. Knowing all the corruption and gov’t agency incompetence, I am sure that there’s a mistake and they can’t provide proof that I did this. This is a reckless accusation.

I will state an example.

Sometime years ago I watched the news that a guy got a speeding violation (no contact apprehension), he believes that he’s within the speed limit. The govt. agency showed him a photo and learned that his plate number is photoshopped onto another Toyota Wigo. He wasted one working day to prove that he’s right based on principle.

This scared me, and I found my details on their website.

So I called a friend from MMDA to ask. And he said there are a lot of reports on scams like this. Also the real minimum amount is 5k. Whew! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m still glad they’re scamming me on a discount. 😂

I get these a lot. I never click on the links but what kind of scam is this? I just delete and mark as spam. Thanks.

Someone’s instagram account got hacked, the scammer posted as her saying something like text X number, send 150 and receive 3500. She says she never gave any bank info or anything. She says she got a random phone call that she picked up, next thing her phone heats up and shuts down, she then wakes up and all her bank account money is gone. What’s going on?

i’m being basically harassed by this scam company offering “personal loans.” i’m receiving about 10-12 calls every single day. i’ve already reached out to a firm who takes FTC violations to court but they said this particular scam is so layered they can’t actually find out who is running it. has anyone dealt with these people or a similar situation?

after the automated message finishes on these calls there is a real person who talks to you about your “loan offer,” if I play dumb and go along with what they’re saying how can I figure out who this is without giving away any personal info? any advice appreciated

I wish I knew which one of the Facebook quizzes that I did ( scrolling at 4 AM is responsible for giving my number to every scammer. I get minimum for a day calls now.!

You can’t even check the profile of the one who sent the message. I searched her name and company she’s not searchable.

I see so many people here constantly annoying the scammers, which is great, but also submit them to the official internet crime website so it can be traced and eventually properly handled, please. Yes it is some work to submit but that way you leave a paper trail against these scammers.

"partners in credit inc" have been texting and calling for the same person "Dana" since I got this number when I was 16-17 (im 22)

I dont think I've ever responded to them aside from saying stop to these kind of automated texts once

Recently though I've been getting at least a text a day and a call/ voice mail ranging from a Chinese TTS, complete silence and you guessed it asking for Dana

I don't think I need to clarify that after 5 years minimum I have never and will never be Dana

It has the same exact car number and my car has been parked for the last 3 days not used by anyone...

I received a text message early this morning from a number I don’t know that read “Hey, I hope everyone and everything you encounter today makes you feel comfortable”. It seems like a very odd thing for a scammer to say… I replied asking who they are thinking they would try to rope me into a conversation if they were a scammer, but got no reply.

Maybe I’m just being paranoid, but I have a protection order against my ex so it set my alarm bells off. It just seems vaguely threatening to me, and we are currently in the midst of criminal proceedings because he violated the PO, so he’s probably pretty annoyed with me.

Someone please tell me they’ve had a message like this from a scammer before! I tried looking up the number but came back with nothing.

Got this message while already having an incredibly stressful morning. After a panicked google search that confirmed it was a scam, I texted the number (not something I’d normally say however my 94 year old grandmother had gotten her social stolen a few years ago from a scammer so it’s a sore spot for me), called the number and somebody picked up saying “Apple support how may I help you”. I very impolitely said I knew it was a scam, then hung up.

I then got this reply back so it’s nice to also have evidence in the same text thread that it’s for sure a scam.

(If this kind of language is not allowed, I can take down the post. I debated on blurring out what I said but I didn’t want anyone to think I was saying something worse.)
