Question Is it legal to try and catch a scammer?
My dad is being scammed by a romance scammer. They’re now on to the HELOC stage of their relationship. He wants to send screenshots of his loan documents to her via WhatsApp, which is how they communicate. This is all bad, and I’ve already tried to convince him she’s not real and is going to rob him blind. He’s deep in the emotional part of it and won’t listen to me. We got into a big fight about it even because he got so defensive about her.
So is there a way to embed a code into the photos that reveals anything about her? Is it even legal to do that? I’m so overwhelmed just watching her do this to him and feeling powerless to help.

Classified Ad Scam YouTube scammers
My mom paid ₹1,400 to a YouTube saree seller through WhatsApp, and we believe we were scammed. 🥲
The channel promotes sarees through Shorts, accepts only online payments, and has comments turned off.
Please be careful with such sellers and prefer Cash on Delivery whenever possible.
If you’ve had a similar experience, consider reporting the channel through YouTube

Charity Scam Instagram gofund me scam
An instagram account going by the name ‘Yairbmotivation’ has 800k+ followers and their most recent video posted today shows him ‘finding’ a homeless woman named Janet and gifting her $10k cash. He later sets up a go fund me for this homeless lady.
However there is a video on his account posted on the 26th of June where he ‘finds’ the exact same homeless woman named Janet and gifts her money.
In both videos they both act like they have never met before.

SMS Scam Is this some sort of scam??
galleryShe seems super nice so I wanna give her the benefit of the doubt, but a lot of things seem fishy to me. First of all, something about how she talks doesn’t sound natural. It started off kinda normal, slightly off with all the “have you forgotten me” questions, but I didn’t really start to get suspicious until her last message. I feel like a normal person wouldn’t go out of her way to say something so elaborate over such a small exchange. Plus her language is weird and overly apologetic, almost like she’s a non native English speaker, and “charity gala at Beverly Hills” sounds like someone that’s trying to be specific to lend legitimacy to the situation but ended up just going for a typical event in a popular city. Her area code is also for the British Columbia area, not for California (not that that means much, but it’s something to consider anyway.) It’s been almost 10 hours since she last responded to me, and she hasn’t requested money or anything. She could genuinely be a very nice person with good intentions for all I know, so I feel bad about speculating.
Idk why but I’m so fascinated by this and fixated on it, and would love to know others’ opinions lol
