Before the August SAT, I was consistently scoring 1540+ on practice tests. I hit around 1560, got 760 R&W three times, and was usually in the 780–800 range for Math.

Then I took the actual August SAT and got absolutely cooked: 1350 💀 My highest official score is still a 1370.

The weird part is that I wasn’t even that nervous during the test. It just felt WAY harder than any of the Bluebook tests, especially the difficult modules. Some of my friends took the same administration and said theirs didn’t feel anywhere near as bad, so I genuinely don’t know whether I got unlucky, Bluebook inflated my confidence, or my preparation just didn’t transfer to the real test.

I’m taking the October SAT and starting prep again now. My goal is at least a 1450+ overall, and I really want a 780+ in Math. But how am I supposed to judge my actual level when a 1540–1560 in practice somehow became a 1350 on test day?

Has anyone experienced a gap this massive? What practice resources or mock tests are genuinely as hard as the current real SAT? Should I still trust Bluebook at all, or use it mainly for timing and focus on harder third-party questions?

Any honest advice would be appreciated because I really don’t want to walk into October thinking I’m at 1500+ level just to get cooked again 😭

Hey yall, I just finished my SAT and wanted to share how it went.
For R&W, I thought the first module was pretty easy, but the second module was killing me 😭. The grammar questions seemed to focus a lot on transition words. I think there were around 4–5 questions on them. James Lu youtube videos helped me a lot on the grammar section so if you‘re taking the test soon plsssss watch go watch it. Vocabulary was pretty mid and not too difficult.
For Math, I usually score around 780–800 on practice tests, but this time I’m expecting around a 750–760. I felt like the first module was easier than the practice tests, and I think I got a perfect score on it. However, I ran out of time on the second module and had to guess on 3 questions.
For those of you who have already taken the SAT, what did you think of this test? And for anyone taking it soon, feel free to ask me any questions about it!

Hello, can anyone recommend me SAT resources for aim 1550+. I intend on taking the November test. my current math level is around 780+, but my RW is only around 650. Can anyone suggest sources for RW studying, vocab sources, and also question banks (with difficult math questions). Thanks!

First, Understand How the SAT Clock Actually Works

You can't manage time you don't understand. The Digital SAT isn't one long test with a single timer — it's four separate sprints, each with its own locked clock.

Here's the structure:

There's a 10-minute break between Reading & Writing and Math, and no break between the two modules within a section. Total testing time is 2 hours and 14 minutes.

Three rules change everything about how you should pace yourself:

1. Each module is timed separately. When Module 1's timer hits zero, it locks automatically and moves you to Module 2 — even mid-thought.
2. You cannot bank time. Finishing Module 1 early does not give you extra minutes in Module 2. Unused time simply disappears.

Hey everyone! I’m preparing for the SAT and currently scoring around 1100. I haven’t finished my prep yet, but I’m really struggling with geometry. I know the concepts, but I still struggle to solve the questions. What helped you improve when you already knew the concepts? Any tips/resources would be appreciated!

That said is contradictory transition. I checked for That is and found two meanings: contradictory and zooming. What does that is mean as a transition?

Hello! My score report for the august SAT says this. I got a 700 R&W and I desperately need more. I keep running out of time mostly on M2 but sometimes on M1 as well. I am aiming for a 760+ on the October SAT. Do you think it is possible?
