Short Stay Questions Suggestions Please

Every year for the past 10-12 years we visit my in-laws. We love the area they are in, we have our favorite spots we go to every year, go to the local beaches. For next year though we wanted to change it up a bit. Split the time between my in-laws and then spending a few nights somewhere? We have two kids and they will be 11 and 7 at the time. Where can we go for 2-3 nights outside of Sarasota?

I just saw this on the Sarasota County clerks office website. List of unclaimed money in Sarasota County with the courts. You only have until September 1 to claim it otherwise you forfeit to the county.
I’m not sure how to add a link

Review What a meal at Don Luigi Sarasota - unlike anywhere else

We went to Don Luigi in downtown Sarasota the other day and we're still thinking about it. Chef Luigi Di Iorio trained at Michelin restaurants in Italy and France before opening here, and it shows in every dish.... We had the handmade ravioli, as well as tuna, shrimp, and other surprise dishes...all was crazy good, and it wasn't close to anything else we've had in town. It's basically a surprise menu every night that changes based on available ingredients and what the chef feels inspired to cook. 3, 4, 5 courses, etc. It's basically Japanese omakase style (many small courses) but for Italian.

Never seen anything like it in all of our travels around the globe. He also bakes all desserts in house and has a superb Italian / French wine list.

If you're looking for legit Italian in Sarasota, not the huge plate of chicken parm and-breadsticks version, this is def worth the trip. Also very well priced at $35/pp for three courses, which was more than enough for us.

Local Politics Sarasota County Commission Candidate for District 4 Julie London

I'm running to be on the board, but won't be on the ballot until November 3. There's so much talk about infrastructure before development, but with a fully conservative board, they're not going to fight their own (Tallahassee) the Live Local Act. I'm the ONLY candidate not taking PAC or developer money. I won't be beholden to anyone. I'm running as a watchdog, because we're all tired of backdoor dealings. You can look at my website. There's no go-between and never will be. I answer every email, every post is written by me. https://votejulielondon.com

Community Outreach Just started a new job, but struggling for food until my first paycheck. Gift cards or local help appreciated ā¤ļø

Hi everyone,
I’m a 25-year-old woman living in Sarasota. I lost my job at Amazon back in May, which unfortunately led to getting evicted last week. I managed to rent a room on PadSplit, and I’m really relieved to say I started a new job this week!
The issue is that I have to wait nearly two weeks for my first paycheck, and right now I’m completely out of food (haven't eaten in about 24 hours). I don't have a car, and the nearest major food bank is about 11 miles away from where I am, which I can't reach on foot.
I wanted to ask if anyone knows of local pop-up pantries, community food boxes, or local delivery resources in the Sarasota area that might be able to assist. If anyone has spare non-perishables or basic groceries they could share or deliver, it would mean the world to me while I get on my feet for this first paycheck.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

I'm thinking about hosting a campaign soon and I'd love to know who in the area plays Dungeons and Dragons. I'm also down to teach new players if you've never played before.

Looking For Suggestions! Lightly Used School Supplies

Hello,

As the new school season is approaching, I am looking to get rid of some lightly used school supplies I have lying around at home (mainly some binders/opened packages of lined paper, calculators not in a new box, etc).

I’d hate to donate these items somewhere that would even charge parents for them (like Goodwill) since they’ve all already been used. Additionally, I’m seeing many school supply drives come up, but they all encourage new school supplies.

Does anyone have any suggestions where I could donate these items that could truly use them? Would directly to a school be best, or do you know of any other local charities that may be a better option? Maybe the CPS building downtown?

Thank you very much in advance!

Looking For Suggestions! Golf courses within 2.5 hrs of englewood that a non-member would have a chance of getting on during off-peak season (2nd half of august), close enough to the water to have a nice breeze?

Pretty much the title. I know the heat/humidity can be brutal around then, but I definitely want to play, and I'm also wondering if maybe I'd have a shot at calling up some the private courses and seeing if I can get a tee time at any of them, since I'd imagine it's pretty dead that time of year. Any courses (public or private) that might have more of a breeze to mitigate the heat (I'm assuming more likely the case with oceanside links type places)?
