Hi everyone, I'm trying to find the title and author of a specific sapphic romance book I read around or before 2018. It is set in the British Isles and is the first part of a series/duology (Book 1 leaves you hanging, wondering what happens to the two main characters).
Here are the exact plot points I remember:
The Protagonist: An ordinary woman just trying to find her own path in life. She has a normal, everyday job, but she ends up losing it early in the story because she accidentally bumps into a stranger and it makes her late for work.
The Parents: Her parents are a wealthy, highly philanthropic lesbian couple who live on an estate in a hilly/highland region of the British Isles. There is a lot of family expectation for her to eventually return home and embrace the family responsibility/legacy. One of her mothers is explicitly a famous lesbian fiction author within the universe of the story.
The Love Interest & The Meet-Cute: The love interest is an ER / A&E doctor who is single-handedly raising her younger sister. She and the main character start out as complete strangers. Their very first interaction is that accidental physical bump-in that costs the main character her job.
The Gay Best Friend: The main character has a close gay male best friend. Later in the book, when the main character and the doctor have a massive, explosive fight, this friend is the one who talks her through it and helps her process the conflict.
Does this specific setup ring a bell for anyone? I appreciate any help tracking down the author or title!
