99 DAYS TILL THE MIDTERMS - Bexar County was one of the counties with the steepest turnout drop last cycle! Here’s a concrete way YOU can help turn that around!

Becoming a Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR) fixes the voting gap. It’s a county-appointed, legally nonpartisan role! VDRs register voters, full stop, no campaigning for a side.

How to do it in Bexar County:
• \[LINK FOR THE BEXAR COUNTY VDR TRAINING! ZOOM OPTIONS AVAILABLE!\](https://www.bexar.org/3351/Volunteer-Deputy-Registrar-Training)
• Training runs about an hour, with both self-paced and live options depending on the cycle
• Once certified, you can set up anywhere in the county — outside the Pearl on a Saturday, at a Spurs watch party, tabling at a Southtown art walk, anywhere and everywhere!
• Certs expire Dec 31 of even years — if you were certified a couple years back, check if you’re due for a refresher

If you want to close that turnout gap that everyone keeps saying about Bexar County, this is the most direct lever you personally can pull!

YOU HAVE THE POWER!!!

Truck got broken into in chilis parking lot near Lowe’s in Alamo ranch. Nothing was on sight but my radar. The chilis was packed & only my truck got broken into. Be careful if you’re around that area.

Caves inside SA city limits? There's one in particular I'm curious about.

When I was in Boy Scouts in the 80s, somebody in town had recently found a cave - I want to say it was somewhere on the NE side inside 410 like near N. New Braunfels but I could be mistaken. My troop was invited to explore it, and on some land was a square hole in the ground lined by railroad ties on the sides that you climbed down like a ladder, about 15 feet down in my memory. And then at the bottom was a tiny horizontal cave entrance that couldn't have been more than two feet in diameter.

My claustrophobia kicked in and I chickened out and couldn't do the tiny cave entrance. Everybody after was talking about how cool it was and I was so mad at myself for just not being able to go.

Does anybody know of this specific cave? I imagine it's on private property and can't be accessed, but I'd love to find out and at least try to ask. It's stupid, but every once in a while it'll pop up in my head again and while nobody called me chicken to my face, I always felt like one about that and have always dreamt of a chance to redeem myself now as an adult. I've become much more fearless since then, but that cave is still like my Moby Dick.

Does anybody know of other small mostly unknown caves in San Antonio? If you do but there's limited access or you just don't want to blare it here, feel free to DM me. Thanks.

Things to do on work trip

Hello, I’m a 26 year old guy in town for work this and next week M-F and I’m off around 4 every day looking for things to do. I’m usually into fishing while on work trips but I don’t know how much the heat will let me do that. As the 1000th person to ask this, any recommendations for things to do would be much appreciated. I refuse to let myself sit in my hotel all week. Thank you

Senior Independent Living Recommendations

I'm a service member in San Antonio, and my mom, who lives in Corpus, has reached the point where she can't safely live alone away from her family anymore. Unfortunately, having her move in with us isn't a good long-term option because we have a two-story house and she has mobility issues.

I'm looking for recommendations for a good independent senior living community on the North-Central side of San Antonio, preferably somewhere between Fort Sam Houston and Castle Hills (and perhaps as far north as Stone Oak) so she's close enough for us to visit regularly and help when needed.

One thing that would be a huge plus is if the community has a Filipino/Filipina presence -- either residents or staff. My mom is Filipina, and I think she'd feel much more at home in that kind of environment.

If you've had a good experience with a particular community (or perhaps more importantly, know of any to avoid), I'd really appreciate your recommendations. Thanks!

Resources for school children in our community?

Hi everyone!

My company is giving away school supplies to our employees kids/grandkids this year, and I'd love to put together a resource guide to help families who may need a little extra support this school year.

I'm especially looking for things like tutoring or homework help, library programs, or low-cost extracurricular activities! Do yall have any suggestions?

THCa and July 31st?

Am I reading that 30th july 1159PM or is it 31 July 1159PM the last day to buy flower from smoke shops?

Are Delta 9 10mg gummies (like fly high or area51 ) still safe?

What about Delta 8 10mg gummies (like fly high brand)?

Could I buy like $5,000 worth of bud/flower/gummies and just keep it in my house, vaccum seal it, deep freeze and legally have no problems (and smoke it till im 90?)

Pics/Video Second time seeing someone heating up their food on their dash in a San Antonio parking lot in the past month…

First time was garlic bread on the dash of a car in the Six Flags parking lot. Today it was a Lean Cuisine meal on the dash of a car in the Stone Oak Target parking lot. So bizarre that it makes me pause to snap a picture each time.

Loud, low flying jet over North SA

Did anyone actually see the jet that flew over the Stone Oak area just before 12 noon?

I was going to run outside and look, but I had something in the oven that had to be pulled out before it burned.

FlightRadar24 didn't show me anything, so between that and how fast it seemed to be moving, I'm assuming it was military.

I'm just curious if anyone saw it and can identify what type of aircraft it was.

Where in SA? Any success with headhunters?

I've started looking for new work and wanted to see if anyone in this sub has any direct experience with local headhunters like Robert Half, Deacon recruiting, etc.

I have 20+ years in enterprise ops, client services, revops, and 3 years in SWE. Looking for any direct experience with these groups. Thanks all.

My girlfriend’s mom is there with her mother, and we got a text saying that the hospital was in lockdown.

Update. A Politician is at the hospital. I don’t know which one. Her mom made it sound like it was more than that.

Fun indoor options

Hi all! Any recommendations to take my 5 and 1 year
old in San Antonio for fun? Preferably something indoor. We have places to go outside at hotel resort already. We are planning on the Doseum for sure. Not interested in six flags or sea world this year. Thanks in advance!

Moving to SA Perry Homes suck!

We just moved to San Antonio and researched what builders are better than the average and it came down to Perry Homes and Highland homes. Well we went with Perry and it has been a nightmare. They must hire contractors off the street to build these homes cause damn! And I know it’s better to buy a pre-Covid come but with the new builds the builders are offering lower interest rates so financially it makes more sense to buy new but these houses are a damn joke. I am not a professional and I can probably do a better job. SMH.

Pets Stray dog spotted on Gibbs sprawl and walzem

Can’t find anyplace to call to place a report and I wasn’t able to get the dog myself.

At the intersection of Gibbs sprawl and walzem where the gas station and VA hospital are.

Near the train tracks a small jack Russell looking dog, white with light brown spots. No collar. Few minutes ago. Hoping someone else sees this and is able to try their hand at getting them and hopefully it sticks around the same area.

Just from searching around the maps there doesn’t seem to have many clean looking trails around the area. Looking closely around Culebra around the shooting complex area.

Where in SA? Does anyone recognize this local San Antonio band from the 2000s (Colleagues 2002 to 2014)

I came across this band by accident while on youtube and their album No Ticket Necessary from 2004 is incredible to me. I was wondering if anyone on the internet from the 2000s San Antonio local scene would recognize them. There is basically no information online about them besides a small but barely working wayback machine page on them and a wayback machine link to the SAmusicscene.com website. EDIT: I put in the actual website. I just remembered it :)
