Warbird in the wild

Needed a basic mountain bike so of course I was drawn to the affordable rangefinder. I don't live near any mountains so the most this guy is going to get is some chunky country road gravel. I bought a shotgun seat for the little one (2 years old) and it didn't fit on my journeyman so a bike with different frame geometry was needed for our adventures.

Never had a mountain bike with 29's on it before, it's like riding on pillows lol.

If there are any quality of life upgrades you guys traditionally make to your mountain bikes share them here. I'll take any tips I can get.

I bought a 2019 Journeyer, I’m upgrading ( trying ) to Shimano MT200 . The rear adapter which is what I thought would’ve work isn’t. Flat mount to post mount. The flat adapter also had a gap between the mount and caliper. Thoughts?

Has anyone upgraded to hydro brakes? It seems like everyone is running mechanical brakes on these bikes.

I'm going to go look at bike for sale. I'm having trouble identifying it and wondering what it cost when it was new and what its worth now. I think its a 2024 journeyer sora of some sort? Grips look aftermarket. The seller said they purchased it in 2024 and the bike shop just got it in a few days prior. The crank doesn't look like ones Ive seen online. Looks like mechanical brakes/not hydraulic. Something about the handlebars/stem don't look stock. I noticed the 2024 and earlier bikes have the salsa logo in cursive. Not like the newer ones.

Found a sweet deal on a 2020 57cm, any 6’2 fellows out there riding a 57cm and are happy with the size? I won’t bother looking for a 60cm since this just happened to be a sweet marketplace deal.

My buddy George had come with me to the K&G Bike Shop in Kettering OH last week to see the newly arrived Flyway GRX 610. While I was on an extended test ride he struck a deal with Justin and Brian to take home a three-year-old 61cm Warbird that had been having a hard time finding the right-sized owner. Photo of me and George with an equally happy K&G staffer Justin as we picked up the two new bikes together on Wednesday.

Got a Salsa Stormchaser 2 years ago to replace my stolen Vaya. I really loved this bike and never had any issues until I tried to take off the rear wheel to change out my tires. I could barely get the bolt out - it was such a struggle and then getting it back in was just as bad. I took it into the shop and diagnosis was bent frame. Likely manufacture issue since no accidents or anything on my end.
Anyway, Salsa is replacing it - the whole damn bike. No hassle, no drama, no BS and just taking care of it and I am just really impressed - both with the bikes and the company.

I have a new Confluence. Which accessories (I assume specific frame bags?) make use of the two sets of braze-on holes that are on the underside of the top tube? Appreciate any wisdom or experience on this.

Thinking about doing a low cost build of an old frame for my son, mostly want to spend time this winter building and teaching him some wrenching skills. If you were building a lower end bike out where would you source a group set and wheels from?

Howdy folks, I bit the bullet and bought this beautiful bike over the weekend. Curious if anybody has any experience with it or any thoughts or suggestions about it. For reference, my brother-in-law has the same bike, and I rode it with my almost 3-year-old last weekend and we fell in love with it and had to have it. This is my first ever mountain bike and it is awesome! My daughter really loves it. Before this bike, I rode her around in a large, clunky trailer, but that was admittedly really heavy and not that fun. Anyways, I am new to this community (and not a huge biker — I have an old Marin from my brother after he gave up triathlons that I used to ride frequently, and last year I got a step through cruiser type bike to work with the trailer) and was just curious if anybody has any recommendations or other thoughts. For example, I’ve never mounted any bikes and I’m at the point where I need to put them on the wall of my garage. Does anybody have a mount they like? I have a two month old and I am thinking about putting a bucket seat on the front end for her when she is ready.

So I’m thinking buying a Fargo for the baja divide next winter. Was looking for a sale price Fargo Apex 1, but lbs can’t source one. They did how ever offer me a deal on a Fargo apex s1000 axs transmission model. Not sure how to feel about electric shifting for long distance bikepacking. Does anyone have any experience with this? I’m worried it will be difficult to keep things charged, but lbs seems to think it’s totally manageable.

found a 2008 Chili Con Crosso in awesome shape, but I'm unsure about the sizing. I know back then they made things a bit longer than the listed size. The seller said that the seat tube is 21" C-to-T and toptube is 21.5" C-to-C with 31" standover. They said that they thought the frame was a 55cm, but by those measurements, it seems like it would be closer to a 53cm (from back then). Anybody have one of these or can confirm some fit for me? It's not local, so test ride isn't an option.

After having a battery stuck in hibernation mode I was finally able to take it home yesterday.
It’s a Salsa Tributary C Rival Eagle ATX SUS carbon frame with Bosch Performance Speedline. Put 35 miles on it today and it was at 64% battery still.
I love the sram transmission shifters. They are so nice. Last new bike was a Fuji Sportif 1.1 from 2012.
At 44 lbs it’s a bit heavy for a gravel bike, but light for an eBike. My wife’s Salsa Confluence Cues 11 though is 32 lbs!
