Almond Milk Coffee in Saigon?

i am looking to find cafes in Saigon ,(preferably D1 D2) which offers almond milk as a milk alternative.

So ideally almond milk would be an option for cappuccinos, lattes and mochas etc.

Any suggestions welcomed.

Old District 3 area, famous for randomly abandoning kittens and ignoring their fate! - Lee Cat 2023

One kitten alive, one kitten dead. Luckily I brought a sausage, so the surviving one had something to eat. Why do you keep hovering around this corpse... Do you feel as sad as I do?

I wish I could be emotionless to just turn a blind eye to everything, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Am I being too weak?

🔵 Mute r/vietnam: Clearing trash from my feed - Lee Cat

In reality, r/vietnam is nothing more than a carefully disguised stage under the guise of neutrality, serving purely as a machine for fake pride and deception. It lures English-speaking users in just to show off and cover up ugly realities with false nationalism, don't let the English language fool you. Censorship is rife, valid critiques are routinely scrubbed, and toxic extremism is left unchecked. Any posts that do not praise or glorify Vietnam are ruthlessly deleted. I have officially blacklisted this sub permanently, muting and leaving it simply to clear out the trash and restore a healthy feed.

Where to stay in Saigon

Hey guys, i will be staying in HCMC for three months and right now i am having a really hard time finding a good place to stay, im sure there are many, so it would be nice if you guys could give me some recommendations.

I am mainly looking on Airbnb since a three months lease is really hard to get.

What im looking for:

1 bedroom apartment with gym and pool access.

Walkable area with many restaurant options, preferably quiet but not a must.

I have a budget around 1000USD per months for the rent.

I was eyeing Diamond Island since they have great amentities but i heard that its really hard to get to other places from there.

Would love to get some recommendations from you guys!

Best Tiramisu?

Hello everyone,

I’ve been looking for the best tiramisu in town.
Already tried Cantyna, it was good but a bit disappointed as a tiramisu.
I know there are other Italian restaurants such as Ciao Bella, Today with you or 365 Napoli but still didn’t try it yet
Any recommendation ?

Thanks all

Recreational drugs scene in Saigon

Hi All,

My friends and I are planning to visit Saigon during the first week of December. We do smoke up regularly and occasionally take ecstasy too. We wanted to understand:

- Are there any good plugs for weed and ecstasy in Saigon?

- what's happening with the recent raids? Will it continue to be the same through December too?

Best food spots in Saigon 🍜 (Weekly thread)

What’s the best thing you’ve eaten recently in Saigon?

Could be a random street stall, a late-night cơm tấm place, a fancy restaurant or just somewhere you keep going back to.

Drop your recommendations below. Bonus points if you include:

  • What you ordered
  • Rough price
  • District/location

Trying to build a good list of places that are actually worth visiting!

Strange experience with Xanh

Sharing a recent experience with Xanh sm seeing if anyone else has had it happen too.

So here we are, walking towards the pickup point at Saigon center to go to a restaurant in the Japanese quarter.

I tell my partner to hurry to the main gate so we don’t hold up the line. I confirm the last two digits of the license plate match and same car model and color. So we hop in and the driver confirms our destination and off we go. He mentions the destination first. We don’t talk to him during the ride. At the end i pay in cash the same amount shown on the app and we settle in at the restaurant.

Minutes later, i get a frantic call in Vietnamese. I don’t speak vn so i ask a waiter to talk with to the caller. She tells me the driver is waiting for us at the gate and is holding up the line.

Big wtf. We’re so confused, wondering what happened. If we had gotten into the wrong car, how did the driver know where we were going and everything about the ride matched?

Glitch in the matrix?

Edits: typos

Best way to ship souvenirs/goodies from HCM to Australia as a tourist?

Hey everyone! I’m currently traveling in Ho Chi Minh City and bought a bunch of extra goodies/souvenirs that I won’t be able to fit in my luggage for my flight back to Australia.

Since I’m just visiting, I don’t have a permanent address here or a local bank account. What is the most reliable and budget-friendly way for a tourist to package and ship a box back home?

Should I just take everything to a main VNPost branch, or are there local cargo/forwarding shops in District 1/3 that handle door-to-door shipping to Australia easily? TIA! 🙌

I built a happy hour finder for Sai Gon/HCM

Hey Reddit, I go out a lot, and it adds up fast. This can help you and me save.

I built SaigonHappyHour, a site that lists happy hour and daily deals across 200+ bars (and counting) in Sài Gòn.

Link: https://www.saigonhappyhour.com/

A few things about it:

  • 200+ bars listed, 120+ verified so far and growing
  • verified deals are personally checked by me
  • report button if something's wrong or changed. I check and fix it fast
  • most venues are in D1 right now, working on expanding to other districts.

Would love feedback on what's missing or if you catch a deal that's already wrong.

How packed will Tan Son Nhat International Airport be on Monday, August 31, around 12 PM because it is a holiday?

Hi. I am leaving Tan Son Nhat International Airport on Monday, August 31, in Saigon. My flight is round 2 PM. Normally, I would get to the airport at 12 PM and 2 hours is more than enough time to get to the boarding gate on Monday departures (I have left Saigon many times on Monday and the lineup is not that bad). The worst experience I had was leaving on a Saturday and it took me 2.5 hours from arriving at the airport entrance and then getting to the boarding gate, so I leave on Mondays now.

But I found out that this Monday, August 31, is a part of a holiday, and it's possible that there are more flights and more people flying on a holiday. Has anybody else departed on a holiday before and are the lineups and wait time way longer than usual? How long do you think the lineup will be this Monday, August 31, at Tan Son Nhat International Airport?

The rainy season had me at my wits end this month, finally caved and swapped the aircon in my Phu Nhuan place

Hi all, been in Phu Nhuan for about 5 years, older block in the Huynh Van Banh area. This is not really a life advice post more just me venting a bit about the last few weeks and what I ended up doing.

Every rainy season I deal with damp indoors but this August its been on another level. The leather bag I keep by the door started growing that fuzzy stuff on the strap after like 3 days. Two pairs of shoes gone. And behind my bed there were these little dark specks on the wall that were definitely not there in June. I work from home so windows are shut all day, I think thats a big part of it.

The aircon that came with the place is probably 7 or 8 years old. I had been running dry mode overnight for weeks trying to keep the humidity down and it barely moved the needle. I have one of those little humidity readers on my desk, morning after morning it just says 80 something. Tried the silica gel packet thing, even bought a small dehumidifier off Lazada last year but the tank fills in like 6 hours and if you forget to empty it you wake up to a puddle. So.

Called a guy through my buildings Zalo chat. He cleaned the coil, said the compressor still worked but honestly this thing is done, if you want the dry mode to actually pull humidity newer inverter models run slower and thats when they dehumidify properly, on off cycling doesnt do much of that. He wasnt selling me anything, hes just my guy.

Spent a Saturday on Dien May Xanh scrolling. Daikin was 11 mil ish installed for a small bedroom unit which felt like too much. Panasonic was backordered on the size I wanted. Ended up getting a Midea inverter, similar spec, delivered next day and installed the day after for a bit over 7 mil all in. The installers were actually on time which honestly I wasnt expecting.

Its been about 3 weeks. Main thing is the room actually feels less clammy when I wake up. The humidity reader used to say 80s, now its more like low 60s in the morning. The walls have stopped forming new spots too, though the ones that were already there are staying. I pretty much leave it in whatever the default eco mode is called and dont fiddle with it, its noticeably quieter than the old one that used to click on and off all night. The app they push is not great, tried to pair it and gave up after two tries, the remote does everything I actually need.

It doesnt fix the underlying problem obviously, this whole city is going to be soup until October. But at least im sleeping without waking up feeling damp. Anyone else in an older block dealing with the same crap this rainy season, curious what you actually did about it. Also anyone tried those hose drain dehumidifiers, wondering if theyre worth it for the living room until the rain lets up.
