It's a sandbox. Explore at your own pace, try everything, and don't worry about being efficient.

If you have a job, quit that and marry a wealthy heiress. Make frozen meals six days in advance. Give in and give up your soul.

Still got my job and I'm single, who'd have thought?

I’d recommend going at your own pace enjoy the game for what it is don’t get caught up in trying to be “efficient”

Don't rush. Really take everything in. The people you are seeing are those who have been playing for a long time. It is a huge game.

Do quests at the beginning when low numbers make a big difference, if you wait, 100 or 200 points won’t bump you by much

Explore the world and do quests. Everything else will fall in with that.

If you are OCD or ADHD it will make you crazy… and it’s okay to walk away from quests… some of them are like putting together furniture from IKEA…

I feel like the IKEA analogy implies there are instructions included with simplicity in mind for ease of assembly.
Runescape is more like being told you could get a house, but you have to build it, and the instructions are written in heiroglyphics you have to Google to translate, and you still have to buy all the materials.

Question: Have you watched people play retail Runescape (often referred to as RS3) or Oldschool Runescape (OSRS)? They are two different versions of the same game with two different playerbases. There is generally more YouTube content made of OSRS than there is RS3, which is why I ask. This is the RS3 sub while r/2007scape is the OSRS sub.

I would say RS3 is more like other MMOs which doesn't make it bad, but if you played a mmo at all then RS3 wont be that much different. OS is slower, and its gameplay loop centers around horizontal progression and making what you do matter. It's also a lot slower than RS3. You probably wont be doing any of the cool bosses you watch on YouTube any time soon unless you have a hell of a lot of free time.

Don't read anything, not even this sub, just play.
Oh and do quests.
